Colin Powell's stock might shoot up quite a bit overseas...

From Yahoo!/AP

Wow. For the Secretary of State to openly discuss something like that and express regrets, this is big. He'll catch 7 different kinds of Hell for saying what he said, but dammit I'd vote for him if he ran for President over just about anybody, even Millard Fillmore.

From whom? I don''t know any one who is proud about that. Powell doesn''t want to be President. In 1996 he could have had the nomination on a silver platter, he doesn''t want it. I think Rice will be the VP in 2004 and she''ll win in 2008. Either way, the Republican party will have the first Black President.

Actually, Ulari, there''s talk in these parts of Rice running for governor of California. Of course, she may have to go through the Terminator to get the Republican nod but after that it''d be smooth sailing.

And don''t you find it odd that Powell would say something like that, something which confirms that validates the left''s belief that the US overthrough Allende and allowed Pinnochet to come to power? It''s like George Tenet admitting the CIA killed JFK. Henry Kissinger must be more pissed off than the article let on, since it''ll be his ass in the fire.

I think it''s pretty well known we did it. It was wrong.

That still sets her up to be President.

LOL

Nothing to do with the thread, but you two look like youre in some kind of sig wars

I was tempted to add this to my sig but the forum software dinged me for having too long a sig:

""Our paradigm now seems to be: something terrible happened to us on September 11, and that gives us the right to interpret all future events in a way that everyone else in the world must agree with us. And if they don''t, they can go straight to hell."" - Bill Clinton

Yes. It''s like the United States V. France and Rat is France! I expect him to throw up the white flag as soon as it''s on the pole!

I wouldn''t use Clinton as the source for that quote. I can point to examples where Clinton did the samething.

I don''t roll over that easily.

And don''t you see the pratfalls in Powell''s statement? He has admitted, in essence, that the US government comitted a crime against the people of Chile. The Chilean government, which is not a real fan of the US after Iraq, may now choose to pursue legal action against the US. And then there''s Kissinger, a man who is wanted for questioning in regards to the incident in several countries, including Chile, Spain, and even the UK if I remember right.

Chile can try but they''ll run into the roadblock of ""They are a super power and we aren''t.""

I agree with you on this I''m just a realist.

I guess this means Kissinger will never leave the country for the rest of his life, then. There''d be cops from a bunch of countries ready to slap the cuffs on him.

I''m not a fan of Kissinger. He won''t be thrown in prison because of the super power status.

Arrg, I realized why I don''t post much in here during the AM: you guys are just too sharp and it takes a little while for me to catch up. I''m not a coffee drinker so that won''t help.

I''ll just side with Ulairi on everything until my brain can function. In those cases where Ulairi doesn''t post, just assume I disagree with everything Rat says. 8)

Hey Yomm, that`s good idea

when Elysium doesnt post, we all should think that Logical and Cold arguments have just been made, and when Rat Boy doesnt post, it would be obvious, that Ulairi and Yomm would not agree with him anyway
