Hidden Gems of Netflix's Watch Instantly

Evil Dead is on there. So is Last Exile, for those curious about AnimeJ's location.

Just found 45 episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus on Watch Instantly.

Also, my Roku box just let me know that not only can I access Netflix stuff, but I can also rent and buy movies and TV shows from Amazon. I know I'll be burning through the second half of Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica this weekend!

OG Slinger: Kudos on the Monty Python find! I'll be watching some of those this weekend for sure!

Teeth on watch instantly.

Whitest Kids U Know seasons 1-3 is a must watch.

Just signed up for Netflix this morning. Great thread we've got going here.

I'm sure this has been mentioned already, but Dr. Strangelove!

1. Dead Like Me - George is awesome.
2. Heroes - Because Hiro is awesome.

The wife and I spent last weekend watching a bunch of flicks...

Across The Universe - It's kind of a cool love story / musical featuring music from The Beatles. To be completely honest, I'm not a big fan of their music but the movie really works and the strange visuals and skewed reality sequences are stunning. Definitely would recommend it.

Body Snatchers (1993) - I remember seeing this and being really freaked out as a kid. Probably my favorite modern take on Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It's not a perfect film at all, but there's enough to enjoy if your looking for a thriller.

Outland - Take a wild-west cliche story (new sheriff tries to clean up town), set it on a mining station on Jupiter's moon Io and give the sheriff badge to Sean Connery. It's definitely dated, I swear some of the sets were used in The Ice Pirates but hey, it's Sean Connery and not too bad of a movie.

Oh, man. Outland. It's one of those movies that I just *have to* watch any time its on.

Just like Zardoz... (Speaking of Sean Connery) Although, unfortunately, it's not on netflix streaming.

Outland is actually good.

Zardoz is just what happens when a script writer takes massive amounts of drugs and a costume designer decides that thigh high boots, suspenders, and a Speedo is what everyone will be wearing in the future.

Wait... so are you saying that my wardrobe is out of date?

Depends. What color is your Speedo?

On a lark I started the first season of Ballykissangel and got hooked. It is set in a small Irish town and is both a drama and comedy. Kind of corny at times, but it has it's moments. Think of Northern Exposure set in Ireland. Kind of fell apart after Season 3 for me though.

For those interested in Medieval times there is a series of documentaries by Terry Jones of Monty Python fame that is interesting. He injects his humor to show some of our major conceptions of those times. Very interesting stuff...at least for me.

Monsoon - what is the name of the documentary you mention? I'd be interested in that.

I *highly* recommend 'Redbelt'. David Mamet does a film about mixed-martial arts.

This site has all of the instant watch movies in categories that are fairly easy to search through. It also lets you add the movies to your instant queue from the site.

I've recently watched Ghostbusters and Serenity on instant watch, both awesome. Also, Word Wars was really good. It's a documentary following four competitors in the national Scrabble championships.

Aren't those the exact same categories that the movies are broken into on the Netflix site?

Thanks for the link. Although simpler, I think I prefer that layout over Netflix.

Oh, man. Fantastic site. Much better than trying to scroll through the movies and shows on Netflix's site.

Yeah, the categories are the same as on Netflix, i just like this layout better and think it's easier to find things. Also, someone earlier asked for a site that lists all the instant watch selections.

Jekyll. Genius take on the story.

Seconded.

Proposal: your post must link to anything you suggest.

I was dying for a site with that information before I signed up (and never found it), because Netflix won't tell you unless you subscribe.

I've been wanting to see that one! There's a lot of good stuff on Instant. For instance, I've been DYING to see Sukiyaki Western Django.

Name of the series is Terry Jones :Medieval Times. http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Terry_J...

That was me, and thank you very much. I wasn't sure if there was much on there that I'd end up watching, but it looks like there is.

For all that NetFlix is advertising this feature, I don't understand why they don't have a complete list, or even a partial list, of videos currently available for streaming.

Hudsucker Proxy, not just the only Coen brothers movie I like, it's really fun on its own merits.

You didn't like Big Lebowski?

For all the fans of Dead Like Me... The feature film followup is now available on Watch Instantly. The Mrs. & I will probably watch it tonight even though some of the watercooler talk about it has tempered my anticipation.
