We Love The Iraqi Information Minister

Check it out! Too damned funny! If it doesn't load, just keep refreshing until it does.

Edit: More Info - Iraqi minister becomes Internet star

I''ll miss him. That was some serious entertainment he put up every day.

I hear he''s getting a job at the new Iraqi regional headquarters of Haliburton.

Yer damned right...

Which only serves to strengthen my suspicion that one must be undead to serve a high level position at Halliburton.

Do you think if/when we catch the Information Minister, he will/should be brought up on war crimes charges?

I mean the stuff he was spouting was so rediculous, I dont think it compares with the likes of Goering etal.

He couldn''t possibly have had any effect on the Iraqi troops that were being bombarded round the clock.

I pity him more than anything unless they find that he was a hardliner who ordered or participated in heinous acts.

Is spouting ineffectual propaganda a war crime?

Well, gee, if one could get arrested for spouting propganda that fails to persuade people to your cause, you could arrest Ari Fleischer. Or Donald Rumsfeld. Or Dick Cheney. Or President Bush.

Very likely. He could be considered as at least partially responsible for whatever (suicide) attacks on the Coalition troops happened or will happen. Just to list an example. There''s no way they''ll let him out of this untouched, especially since he was the only major representant of the regime to publicly show up in the last days of the war.

Not only did I know this was coming, I also guessed (correctly) it would be from Rat.

Well, Yomm, it was a bit like a hanging curve ball high and away with the outfield playing at shallow depth. He''d be remiss not to swing at it.

Off topic: I need to stop playing MVP Baseball 2003.

I found his hysterics entertaining as well, but I''m trying to remind myself that this guy is as hip-deep in that brutal regime as anyone involved. Alledgedly, he seemed involved in trying to assassinate reporters in Iraq:

Last December, when I told Information Minister Muhammad Said al-Sahhaf that we intended to send reporters to Kurdish-controlled northern Iraq, he warned me they would ""suffer the severest possible consequences."" CNN went ahead, and in March, Kurdish officials presented us with evidence that they had thwarted an armed attack on our quarters in Erbil. This included videotaped confessions of two men identifying themselves as Iraqi intelligence agents who said their bosses in Baghdad told them the hotel actually housed C.I.A. and Israeli agents. The Kurds offered to let us interview the suspects on camera, but we refused, for fear of endangering our staff in Baghdad.

That was written by Eason Jordan, the chief news executive at CNN in an op/ed here.

I don''t think anybody''d be complaining if they tried to kill Geraldo and the Fox News staff. Hell, there might''ve been a drive to give them a medal if they do that.
