Breaking Bad: "Do it yourself"

Pages

The second half of the last season of Breaking Bad starts on 8/11/2013 on AMC.

Breaking Bad is about a chemistry teacher who finds he has lung cancer and decides to cook meth to raise money for his son and pregnant wife after he dies. I won't spoil things but the show is filled with emotion, drama, action, suspense and even humor. The whole cast is excellent, but Bryan Cranston (the dad for Malcom in the Middle) is really great. He won an emmy for this.

Do yourself a favor and catch this show.

SWEET! I've been wondering when this was going to come back

I saw a commercial for this and immediately put the first season on my Netflix queue. All three discs are shipping today. I'm excited!

Ya!
Finally the show that relates to Oklahoma is back!

Man, I loved the first season. I figured for sure that it was gone forever. Excellent news!

So I keep hearing. I suppose I should give in.

Oklahoma? I think BB is set in Arizona. Saving Grace is set in Oklahoma, though.

Also, the show is on AMC, not A&E, yeah?

The meth. Its all about the meth.

I don't know they advertise it on A&E all the time, So I think it's on A&E instead but im not positive.

It's on AMC.

The show is set in New Mexico.

Thanks for the tip on the marathon of season 1. I have been interested in the show from the ads but never took the time to track it down. I'll be plugging the marathon into my DVR when I get home :).

Crap. Yes. Fixed the parent post.

The wife and I just burned through the first 3 seasons in 3 weeks. Some of the best TV I've seen in a long, long time. Can't believe it's going to be almost a year until season 4

I'm kind of amazed that this thread hasn't received any love for so long, especially with how phenomenal season 3 was. Is there anyone else watching right now?

The episode that aired on 9/27, "Crawl Space", blew my freaking mind, particularly with the final camera shot.

Yes, watch this show. First couple seasons are on the Netflix now.

Yes, watch it. "Crawl Space" left me aghast. Remember when the Chicken Man was odd and a little goofy? Man...

I have been getting into this show on Instant Watch, about half way through the second season, and it is really good. I am getting a little annoyed at the pace of some things:

Spoiler:

Walt and evilFemale Doggo's marriage. She needs to just leave if she is going to be so miserable. She is making life worse for her and Walt.
Hank and uberFemale Doggo. What does she see in him? What does he see in her? She is ok looking, but she is a nightmare to be around, based on everything we have seen so far. He is a bit of a blustering asshole, and kind of a jerk, too.

Jessie is a really fun character. He screws up so many ways, but winds up paying triple for every little thing, but he keeps on going regardless. I look forward to him and Walt not being so contentious all the time.

Gus has had a series of completely bad ass moments this season.

Spoiler:

Calmly walking into sniper fire with not a care in the world.

Spoiler:

Intentionally poisoning himself just for the opportunity to slaughter the cartel members.

Spoiler:

Calmly explaining to Tio how he patiently waited for fifteen years for the opportunity to destroy everyone and everything he loved out of vengeance.

Also, the fate of Ted Benneke was absolutely beautiful.

Gus is definitely my favorite villain of any show at the moment.

+1

I also started out hating Jesse and loving Walt but those tables have flipped.

Actually I don't really like either of them.

I'd rather watch a show with just Gus and Mike.

Spoiler:

I can't seem to wrap my head around Madrigal Electromotive. Every gangster story is one of a ne'er do gooder trying to make a buck so that they can become legit and here we have a multi-national in the middle of the North American drug trade. With successful companies under its umbrella it just seems like such a risk.

Actually, I really feel like Jesse has come into his own this season. The first half was his moral struggle, but the second half seems to be him realizing that he doesn't need Walt, and learning to thrive. His actions at the cartel mansion showed that pretty well.

Unfortunately a lot of people I know that watch the show are waiting for the the season to end so they can watch it in one fell swoop. I usually fall under that camp but for this show I've been keeping up week by week, and honestly I think the tension and build up from the weekly cliff hangers really raises the stakes for active viewers. I certainly find the weekly conversation with coworkers more entertaining than word vomit after a marathon viewing session.

The ending for this last episode in particular is easily one of the most harrowing moments of television I've ever experienced. Seriously, my gut clenched up in ways I can't even describe. Not sure how it fits into the "Mr. Chips (to) Scarface" transition we were told to expect from Vince Gilligan over the past couple of years, but I can imagine the season finale will bring us to that place in the typical flourishing style we've come to anticipate.

Also, I'm a resident of Santa Fe and I find myself frequently driving through ABQ. I went to a concert this summer at the same location where Walter has an "accident" with with his son's new Challenger. I may have geeked out a little, a lot, "omgwtfbbqsauce I've been there!" after that scene

This show has surpassed Deadwood as being my favorite drama of all time.

No pressure, creators of Breaking Bad; no pressure.

Totally agreed, this show surpasses so many others in terms of quality and plot. I'm looking forward to the completion of the series, with only one more season to go I'm hoping for a very "The Shield"-esque ending.

Can't believe how little love this thread gets.

I'm only 5 episodes into Season 1 (Thank you Netflix!) and loving it. If I didn't enjoy playing Trackmania so much I'd get through the episodes much quicker.

I will give S1 a go first and then move on to the next seasons. Jeff Green also commended this show.

Pretty sure I read after this season there will be 16 more episodes that might be split into two small seasons.

For me this is a good thing. This show is great but it really needs an eventual ending and it could be very epic.

Last season of The Wire was hit and miss for me. Loved the Spranos but it isn't standing the test of time. I wonder what would happen if someone went back and edited the hell out of all the boring side plots and made a condensed 4-5 seasons?

Manny from Scarface as the don was a great touch. Some dialogue and scenes bug me but they always manage to get back to why I love the show. Awesome camera work or quirky stuff like the intro to the one episode with the mariachi band.
