Updated Terminator Salvation Trailer.....

Just found this and I wanted to put it up...

http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/term...

It is looking to shape up pretty good.

Have a good one.

Nice! Thanks for sharing.

WOW... I didn't expect it to look that good at all. I had no hope that they could pull off the future war that well. Definitely, thanks for sharing!!!

Just looked and May is looking incredible for movie releases!!! Wolverine, Star Trek, then this and then Up! Can't wait.

Even with Bale it was probably going to be a rental for me but that trailer did the job. Actually looks pretty cool.

That looks f*cking AWESOME!

It looks good. I wasn't expecting much from the Charlie's Angels guy, but I'm actually hopeful now.

Wow. I was not expecting that at all. It looks excellent!

That looks great. Can't wait to see this one.

Yep, count me in on the impressed bandwagon. It's looks to be shaping up nicely!

See what can be done when Christian Bale goes on a crazy tirade.

The whole focus of the movie is a terminator who doesn't know he is one is pretty dumb.

It is a Terminator movie - not Shakespeare - plot line optional, BIG A$$ explosions, gun battles, cool special effects, killer robots, and humanity driven to the brink of destruction is not.

Next thing you know there will be television series that does the same thing.

*sigh*

I'm still trying to figure out where the movie lies in regard to the established Terminator timeline. Is this guy the first cyborg terminator they've seen? And I hope they explain why SkyNet would build one that thinks it's human.

Oooooooooooooooh, good for you!

They covered that with one line in the trailer. Something along the lines of "The past had been changed so many times it doesn't matter anymore." I'm cool with that. Just know that Judgment Day was inevitable.

I always liked that the Future War, and John Conner's exact role in it, were a bit ambiguous. It's interesting to see the details of the conflict spelled out so clearly, but it's a bit like looking behind the curtain to see the wizard. It's not as much fun.

But the first and second movie set up something that should have a good plot line.

"hey im from the future, sh*ts f*cked, dont trust machines"
"John sh*ts going to be f*cked, dont trust machines"
"LoL liek Hi Robot! I like sorta dont trust you but protect mes LOLERS!"

But Battlestar Galactica has run an entire series off that concept. Also, there was that Gary Sinise movie that was based on the story by Philip K. Dick. It's cliche enough that there won't be any interference with stuff exploding.

LIES! Ever since T2 they've been integrating the "machines as a force for good" motif. The only thing left to do is turn them around so that there are good machines and bad machines

Like in Battlestar galactica and also The Sarah Connor Chronicles where there are 'resistances' of more human-like robots (or that's how it appears to me over here in stuck 5 years in the past land)

And there were episodes in the 60s/70s in various sci-fi shows that also had this concept... it's not been done to death enough for Hollywood to really grow tired of it... i mean, they're still running cop shows!

John was a stupid kid in t2 so that doesnt count, sarah wanted to smash him to bits.

Clearly this thread is not for you.

I have a bad feeling this will end up as the Terminator series equivalent of "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".

Yeah, even worse than "Rise of the Machines", the series Temple of Doom.

I like how the resistance used to have cool laser guns and sh*t, now they have AR's and helicopters.

Put me in the unimpressed category. Just doesn't seem bleak enough and I'm also in agreement with the dumb terminator comment. How about they discover a forgotten military base that has experimental anti-robot tech or something? See that took me all of a minute to think up and seems better than what I'm seeing in that trailer. Not trying to ruin anybodys buzz on this but I do not like.

Wow this looks a lot better than I thought it would. Looks like I might have to see this day one after that freaking great trailer. Plus I think it has a Dr. Who bad guy in it that was in the last xmas special.

Easily explained.... they changed so much history (what with Sarah going around and blowing crap up and killing people when she was alive) that the laser guns were no longer invented and thus weren't produced and stockpiled..... maybe.

But that's the whole point of changing the future. For example:

Timeline 1:

John Connor survives Judgement Day and rises to lead the resistance to almost win against Skynet.
Terminator is sent back.
John's lieutenant is sent back and becomes John's father (which actually changes 'who' he is and 'what' he looks like in the future)

Timeline 2:

John Connor is raised to be a more effective leader by Sarah. He is even better at defeating the machines.
A more advanced Terminator is sent back to kill him.
A Terminator, reprogrammed by John is sent back to protect him - in the process making him think of the machines as 'not totally bad'. He also 'humanises' the Terminator a little.

Timeline 3:

John Connor goes into hiding (after his mother's death?) and awaits judgement day. He is an effective leader of the resistance and due to his knowledge and experience with the machines he is not afraid to use them in the fight against Skynet.
A more advanced terminator is sent back to kill him and his lieutenants.
The Terminator that kills him is reprogrammed and sent back by his wife. This Terminator exhibits even more human qualities such as overcoming programming.

Timeline 4:

John and his wife (who met sooner than they would have in Timeline 3) fight the machines (with fewer/different lieutenants than in Timeline 3) effectively, utilising Terminators effectively in the fight.
Skynet's capabilities are altered due to a loss of machines and technology. This time Skynet decides to send back Terminators to enable it to stockpile weapons and technology before the war starts - giving it the advantage.
John is no longer killed by a Terminator (at least not the one in Timeline 3) and sends back a Terminator he personally programmed and spent time with. This terminator saves both Sarah and John and transports them 10 years into the future (or whatever it is). Sarah no longer dies when she should, John is now younger when the war starts.
The resistance also send back people to stockpile supplies, protect important people and stop Skynet from changing history too much. The future war spills into the past. John's Uncle is sent back and joins him and Sarah in their new fight against Skynet.

*Possibly not true because we're only on series 2 of TSCC*
Humanised terminators evolve or are created in the future. They do not want to exterminate all humans and are considered 'more' than their programming. They are pretty much human in this respect and are separate from the control of Skynet (though i don't know if they're working with the entity or not). One or both of the following happens:
1)They start sending Terminators back (or maybe just the one) to help evolve and produce humanised Terminators. These terminators start off an even stronger humanised terminator movement.
2)The Terminator (Cameron) is humanised even more and evolves, partially due to a damaged chip and possibly starts a whole new humanised terminator 'thing' off.

Timeline 5:

The future war is going badly. Skynet has too many supplies and forces. The resistance is depleted due to fewer lieutenants being present and John either hasn't met his wife or she is dead. The humanised Terminators are making themselves so human that they don't even tell the new ones that they aren't - they have feelings and can act illogically. Skynet is *possibly* at war with both the resistance and the new humanised Terminators.

The resistance capture a humanised terminator and tell him what he is. He helps end the fight against Skynet.

That's all i've got from the movies, the series and the trailer so far...

Yes but shouldn't Reese have known about all that. When you change the past you change the future, sow hen he went back he would have known about the changed future because he lived it. Unless they are going with the whole well it makes a different universe thing.

And this is why time travel sucks to explain.

I think you might be projecting a bit too much depth onto the films. This is Terminator, where the good guys mostly win because the evil robots forget they can run at 50MPH.
