Video Game Deals Catch-All

That's what they're counting on over there.

In all seriousness, Rise of the Triad is fascinatingly weird. It's such a bizarre fever-dream of a game. It's not life-changing, and it's not a neglected classic, but it is fun, especially in multiplayer. You can alos download a lot of free map packs from the Rise of the Triad website; scroll down a bit to find them if they're not included in the GOG bundle.

Newegg's got one of their Daily Deals out today:

Crackdown for 12.99

If you've not grabbed this game yet, it's well worth 13 bucks for admission.

OK... maybe I'm NOT getting Dawn of War II. I put in the order last night but it's not listed on my GoGamer account, the PayPal transfer is still listed as "pending" and the game's now Out of Stock. Wonderful. Thanks a bunch, GoGamer.

Don't sweat it Lobster. When you do finally get it, holler and I'll let you take out your anger by *NSFW* my Tyranids.

I had some weirdness when I ordered...I went through Paypal, then it went back to GoGamer which started asking me all the stuff that the Paypal order should have handled for me. I got confused, back-buttoned a few pages to Paypal, then clicked through again to GoGamer, at which point it suddenly picked up the Paypal info.

I *think* I only ordered once but won't be surprised if two show up on my bill...

I think you should be able to check your gogamer account summary to see if you wound up with two orders. Might give you a chance to cancel one if they havent processed it to far.

Same thing happened to me, only payment is showing up in PayPal for me as of today.

*edit* Checked my account when I got home, nothing shows up for gogamer; I did receive an order confirmation last night.

GOG.com just announced that they're going to start adding the Apogee catalog to their site, starting with Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition today for $5.99!

Link!

Coming Soon:
Duke Nukem: Manhatten Project
Rise of the Triad: Dark War (!!!)
Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold
Blake Stone: Planet Strike

I know it's not really a "deal" but I thought the news was quite worthy. I played the hell out of Duke3D and Rise of the Triad back in the day.

Edit: Edited two titles.

LockAndLoad wrote:

I thought it was "Blake Stone"? And if I remember right, those games were pretty good for a generic shooter. Nostalgia might get the better of me and my wallet....

It was totally Blake Stone, and I even played the first one so shame on me for the incorrect title. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote "Black Stone", but I did mean Blake.

Unless your tyranids stand perfectly still and let me beat on them, that won't happen. I can't stress how ass I am at this game.

I just got a shipping confirmation from GoGamer so I guess all is right in the world.

Not as beautiful as the Christmas Steam deal for the Unreal Pack, but still slightly cheaper than buying these two individual games on Steam right now.

Sins of a Solar Empire Collectors edition is amazon's game deal of the day, for $19.99

Not for me, but I know there's a lot of RTS fans here...

As of this next week (3/1 - 3/7), BestBuy has a deal that you get 2 tickets to The Watchmen with any Xbox console or Live product purchased (subscription or points).

Here's the link to CAG: Best Buy - Buy an Xbox or Xbox Live product = Free Watchmen Tickets/Movie Content

Looks like it's time to go get some MS Points!

Yeah thats about $20 saved when buying points we'd eventually buy anyway. Its not like anyone here would think of skipping the movie

Silly noob question:

Is Sins of a Solar Empire an RTS or more like Civilizations? What's a comparison I can wrap my non-pc-gaming head around? If RTSs typically make my head spin would it still be a good pickup? I hear a lot of great things about that game.

Damn you! I was all the way through the purchase process before I even thought about how much time this game will try to eat up.

I just picked up Mercenaries 2: World In Flames from best Buy for $9.99 - looks like you get $20 off if you are signed up to the reward zone thing for free.

Another game to blow stuff up in - can't go wrong with that

Damn. I made it all the way through and a couple hours out before reading your post and realizing. Stupid Rezzy bringing reality into my impulse buying.

It is an RTS that feels closer to Civilization in pacing. It wouldn't be totally wrong to describe it as a turn-based RTS...there are no turns, but things happen at a pace that makes it easy to keep on top of things.

GoG has a deal for the next week wherein you can get 15% off of RPGs by using the code ALLRPG, according to an email I got today.

Really? The podcast made me really want to play Sins, but then I remembered I totally suck at RTS games. I love turn-based games. Maybe I will look around for a Sins demo...

Warhawk is $20 on PSN now. I'm not sure if this is permanent or not. (Gamepolitics says it's a special, PSN says it's a price drop.)

Deadron wrote:

The gogamer deal looks great, but appears to be box only?

Is that correct?

If so, no sale. I'm the anti-Lard -- download or nothing, baby!

Dawn of War 2 is Steamworks compatible so it means you get a code to use on Steam and voilà-- linked to your Steam account forevah! but you get a multiplayer "tech-tree" (DoW2 doesn't have a tech-tree per se but something similar)

In other news, regarding KILLZONE 2

when you trade in either Fallout 3, Little Big Planet, CoD: World at War, the last Need for Speed or Prince of Persia, EB Games and Gamestop in Canada will give you 50$ of credit, meaning you pay it only 9.99 with the trade-in of one of these games.

What I did is I traded in 2 games to get two copies of Killzone 2 and I returned them this morning unopened for 120$ of instore credit towards anything. However if you really want Killzone 2, look for Amazon's deal, you can get it for ~43.99

Warhawks may be fun but to really enjoy the full game, you'll need about half a dozen DLC add-ons which effectively will bring the price to something like 35-40$ minimum. It's just like those Tom Clancy games, you can't play them multiplayer unless you've bought almost all the DLC because serious players got them.

Beware!

Do try the demo first. As much as Sins is good, it's very, very much a 4X game and is very intricate. Not for everybody.

FEAR 2 PC

saw FEAR 2 at Gogamer.com for 29.90

Actually the addon bundle of all 3 current addons is also on sale right now for $9.99 (usually $5 apiece). So, now would be about the cheapest time to get involved with all the Warhawk goodness.

So Warhawk ($20) + all addons bundle ($10) = All Warhawk game content ($30)?

Wish they were doing that sale in April, when I plan to get my PS3.

Yup that's what it is, it's 30 bucks for warhawk and all 3 expansions.

I decided to buy it for I could leave it on my console without using the disc

Not sure how many NY-ers there are here, but...

The Virgin Megastores in NYC are going out of business, and pretty much everything is on sale. I can only vouch for the Times Square one (the Union Square branch isn't shutting its doors until May, so the sale probably hasn't hit there, yet) but all their video games seemed to be 20% off. And I picked up Rock Band 2 for 35% off ($120). Rock Band accessories were 20% off.

12 Months of Live + Chat Pad + Wired Headset + Project Gotham Racing 4 + 2 Movie Passes = $50

1. Add Xbox 360 Live 12-Month Subscription Messenger Gold Pack to cart at $49.99.
2. Add Watchmen Movie Pack Offer ($24.99 value) to cart. Free with purchase of item above.
