Just Another Snake Cult Roll Call

OK, I'm gonna call it. Looks like we don't have a quorum. At least Hockosi will have a chance to catch up. Let's say we'll meet for the elite vanir quests next Monday.

Have a great week!

Darnit! I'm already at level 28, but I couldn't even hit 29 today no matter how hard I try. Griefing is HORRIBLE tonight, my death count has doubled. It took swimming the entire river length to make it from the resurrection point out east just to get back to town.

I was looking forward to a group to get some revenge, but now I'm just gonna stop playing until next Monday I guess.

Business as usual, glad you could run with us Hockosi. Highlight of the evening was when you knocked that fool off the cliff

Sorry I couldn't make it last night. My fiancee wanted to finish up season 5 of Buffy and did not want to wait until tomorrow. Barring any horrific surprises, I'll be there Wednesday.

The Next Big Patch™ '1.04' is confirmed for tomorrow, although it probably won't affect you guys very much.

However, when this particular patch updates it will force everyone to run the verfy/repair tool to find and replace any corrupt data. This takes a while especially if it finds something, so you might want to run it at a convenient time before you next want to play, in case it has to download a lot of extra stuff.

Click on settings on the patcher window.

Ugh that verify process is like 15-30min

Just ran mine and it didn't find a thing, but every now and then people get stung by a massive download.

Thanks for the group last night. It was a lot of fun. I'm glad to see we still have momentum after a week off.

Wednesday, we'll finish up the Conall's Valley stuff and hit up Black Castle!

I might miss the first 1/2 hour to hour tonight, but I'll be there.

I'm trying to do some homework before AoC tonight. I'd just like to say I'm slightly confused.

Anyone capable of explaining combustion of n-octane with excess dry air to me or anyone capable of providing a book that doesn't suck at explaining it wins points.

Fundamentals of Gas Turbines by William W. Bathe is not helping me all that much...it leaves a lot of steps out of how to do problems and I'm having trouble filling in the blanks just to understand the examples.

Ahhh crap I forgot to update earlier today...started about 15min ago...waiting...

Ugh same, for both of us. We're running a bit late :/

Between domorin and I, we've got 8 hours of patching to go. Looks like it won't happen tonight. Swat and Tzig are in the same boat. Let's try tomorrow night instead. Hockosi, Swat, Tzig, domorin, and I can make it.

Arovin and Stengah? You down for Thur at 7pm PST?

1.1 gigs x 2 (after the first few little ones)... I wasn't expecting that. Thursday it is!

I cannot make it tomorrow, I start my 7-days on tomorrow, so I can't play again until next Thursday. What kind of connection do you have where it takes 8 hours to update? I started downloading mine before I went out for dinner at 9:20 (EST) and it's all set to go now (10:40 EST).

Only 2.5 DSL, but two computers hammering the patch. I guess I could always get the patch on one and copy it over the network, but still might take a while.

Thursday night will be too late for me. Don't worry, I can catch up for Monday's session.

Yeah, the problem was having too people trying to download it at once. I think I got it down to 3 hours, but that still would have been far too late.

From the Patch Notes:

- Player's nametags will now be colored grey if killing them would give you murderpoints. If a gray player attacks you their name will turn red, indicating justified self-defense.
- When attacking a target with melee or spells, the damage will no longer splash to nearby targets, unless the main target will give murderpoints, you have previously attacked the splashed target, or the splashed target will not give you murderpoints.
- You can now attack players 8 levels lower than you without getting murder points or criminal status.
- When being attacked in PvP, a player should no longer receive the criminal buff for attacking his opponent's healer, regardless of the level of the healer.

They are really starting to flesh out this system. Which is really good. Now if they can finish and pull off a relaunch.

They STILL havent fixed stealth though If they fixed that this game could tempt me away from WoW as my main game.

Yeah, the stealth issues are a problem. But I'm glad to see you're still watching the thread, Ran. Why don't you join us tonight?

Fiances sick so i'm in/out and wouldnt be much use. Our schedule in WoW is all messed up right now, but normally when we're not raiding and i'm able to game i plan on jumping in like i did the other night... I'm just really hooked on my DK in WoW though so i've been giving him priority of my gaming time.

Other then the stealth issue, what is your verdict on the state of the game right now?

We're going to be about 30 min late today, Tzig got home late and we're trying to get some dinner ready here.

Other than the stealth the games a lot of fun especially being done like the guys/gals in JaSC are doing. PvP isnt even an issue because they're rolling in groups of 6+.

The game still needs polish, it's not quite a place I'd like to call home, but I'll be damned if it isn't a kick ass dungeon crawler with friends, sprinkled with some fun (and annoying) PvP encounters. That's my take on it, I definitely wouldn't be playing if I was soloing it.

Yeah stealth still being broke is a pain, but I might resurrect my Assassin at 55 because I miss the ol' melee fights. Playing a caster is yawn-inducing, but I do have some delicious buffs

Edit: The new patch brought a lot of new stuff today, some nice changes, and DX10 greyed out but in the menu.. some of the options for DX10 include god rays, specular lighting on water, some other mumbo jumbo, and something about realistic wind/tree physics. Can't wait to test it out, the game's super purty still.

See everyone tonight. Same snake cult time. Same snake cult channel!

*curses work*

What's wrong with stealth? It's fine in PvP at least. It's not something I hear complaints about.

My problems with stealth are:
Your own team can "discover" you when they use search.
It's extremely difficult to succesfully sneak up on an enemy. It's like they've got an always on search skill that's a hundred points higher than your sneak skill. If my level 30 with maxed out hide has problems sneaking up on a level 20 snake, there's a problem.

I've never played an assassin but I think hiding in PvE is quite heavily dependent on light levels (the little thief crystal below the minimap.).

And yeah I'd forgotten the friendlies spotting thing. That popped up quite recently.
