Tobey Maguire out as Spider-Man?

From Sci-Fi Wire

Well, at least if Tobey gets replaced with Jake, there might be some more interesting on-screen chemistry between Peter/Spidey and MJ.

If there''s one thing that really kills sequels for me it''s when they replace the main lead with someone else! I hate that!

Heck yeah, this only works with James Bond films, and even then it can be touchy. The Jack Ryan changes weren''t too bad until they settled on Affleck (ick), but I''m still wishing they''d stuck with Alec Baldwin. The other two Batman beyond Michael Keaton sucked raw eggs as well, for example. <sigh>

Yeah, and not just due to the change in actors...

Thats a stupid move if Ive ever heard one.

Ditch the loser and wait for me Kirsten!

Oh of course, the departure of Tim Burton and the acquisition of Joel Schumacher was a horrible...horrible thing...

That sucks, but the Donnie Darko dude is a pretty damn good actor at least.

Gotta get that movie out the door asap to make as much money as possible.
Too bad if the actor can''t make it, lets just get someone else.

Who runs a business like this?

USA Today debunked earlier reports that a bad back might prevent Tobey Maguire from reprising the title role in the upcoming sequel film The Amazing Spider-Man. The newspaper also quelled a report that Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko)"”the real-life boyfriend of Spidey co-star Kirsten Dunst"”was offered the part.

That was posted on the same site, and I''m guessing, later then the first post was made.

For me, I''ve decided to withold all judgement on switching actor''s between movies. I remeber thinking Val Kilmer (sp?) would be the death of Batman....I was wrong.....

Play Planetside!!
(sorry, couldn''t resist)

How exactly were you wrong again? After the 2nd Batman movie, it all went to hell. I loved the 1st as a kid, and after the 2nd one, I couldn''t stop laughing at how ridiculous they were at that point. Utterly laughable.

Val Kilmer is more like the Comic Batman to me.

Hmmm I like Val Kilmer in certain films but I have to agree with Pyroman that after No.2 the Batman Franchise took a nosedive over a large cliff.
