Dark Cloud 2

Ok I bought Dark Cloud 2 the other day, and have spent about two hours with the game. In these two hours this game has made me realize a few things.

1) I don't really like cell shading.
2) I don't like circuses.
3) I absolutely abhor clowns, even when I am killing them.
4) Using a wrench to beat stuff up is not nearly as cool as using a sword.

Someone please tell me this game gets better. After all the rave reviews I was ready to like it. Unfortunalely up to the atmosphere is really killing it for me.

I haven''t played it but I just wanted to mention that you''re not alone on the clown issue.

I hate them and their smiles. Especially when they''re made of porcelain.

Why does it seem like everyone hates clowns lately?

I love ''em.

Plus once an exgirlfriend dressed up as a clown for a kid''s charity party, and afterwards... oh yeah.

I also suffer from Clownophobia.

Mex, I think I would be scarred for life if I''d ever had sex with a clown. However, I don''t know if I''d be quite as spooked by a female clown.

There''s just something inherently creepy about clowns. Just think of it. It''s some guy, painting his face, and putting on other identity masking apparal in order to play around with kids.

Creepy.

I''d like to know more about this game. Is it a builder/rpg/action thing? Any further impressions you want to share would be most appreciated.

As for clowns, I''ve hated them sense I read Stephen King''s It (I think thats the one)

I played the game for about 3 hours yesterday, and it is getting a lot better. The plot is actually kind of reminding me of the Dark Tower series. I haven''t got to the town building part yet but I have a feeling as soon as I finish the dungeon I am on the town building part will open up.

The game is a bit odd in that your weapons actually level up and not your character. As they level up they get points allowing you to up their stats, and upgrade them to better versions of the weapon. For instance I have upgraded the original weapon for Max from a ''Battle Wrench'' to a ''Drill Wrench''. You can also break down your upgraded weapons and use the result to upgrade a newly bought weapon so you don''t actually lose all of the time and money spent upgrading the old weapon. There is also a ''Ride Pod'' which is a robot thing you drive around that you can upgrade. Last but not least you can actually take things in the world put them together and create entirely new items via the invention system.

I hope that made sense, it is fairly complex it took me a while to get it. But the game definately seems to have that sort of Final Fantasy X feeling to it, where they are constantly adding new gameplay elements to keep things interesting. Also I must say that the help system is one of the best. When you go to the help menu and click on a topic it actually shows a short video on the topic in question.

Overall I the game''s plot has started to pick up, and the gameplay seems extermely deep and varied. I still don''t really like the whole ''Battle Wrench'' and clown thing. However they did drop in another character who uses a sword which is nice.

That is easily the creepiest thing I have ever read.

She made you balloon animals!

I don''t particularly find that creepy, was she hot? Hmm... posibilities.

Michael Jackson?

Michael Jackson?

Well, that would explain why I find him so creepy. Thanks, I''ve never thought of that before.
