Any good CO-OP games for PC like Serious Sam & Diablo

Hi all,

My Wife and I quite enjoyed playing Diablo 2 and Serious Sam 2 together in CO-OP mode. Does anyone have any sugestions for other CO-OP games on the PC that are similar.

She only has a Keyboard and mouse for control and it needs to be something easy to play, like the above games.

All comments, ideas and suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks.

I''m not sure it meets your over al needs package, but BF1942 is very fun co-op even just against he AI. Some of the turned based games like AOW2 can be fun to gang up on the computer in, but realy MMP''s make for some of the most imersive small party play.

Thanks for that - BF1942 might be a bit much for her machine as it is only an 700Mhz machine, but it is worth a shot

What do you mean by MMP''s?

Age of Mythology?

You could prolly have countless hours of fun in skirmish battles ganging up on the computer and testing out the different Gods.

They''ve got the whole allure of myths down pretty good. Nothing like sending a wave of minotaurs at your enemies ground troops. Minotaurs can fling enemies great distances with their horns!

Elysium and Certis have played this quite a deal more than me and could prolly give you more in depth feedback.

Well, Hoochie and I have had a ton of fun playing through Dungeon Siege together (very Diabloish) and Neverwinter Nights.

Both games aren''t considered the greatest for single player but they are a ton of fun for multi.

Ooooh I''d forgotten how much fun Dungeon Seige was in co-op mode! Must go home and dig out my copy!

You can CO-OP in Dungeon Siege?

I never played it, though my Wife did and enjoyed it (apparently the donkey was a big hit :D)

So is the multiplayer the same as the Single Player or are there other things you can do. Are there extra maps & stuff to keep it going? (gonna go search now)

That was a really sad thing about Diablo II, once it was finished, for the casual player there wasn''t much point to keep playing as it was just the same stuff all over again.

NeverWinter nights sounds really good, I know there are a lot of user mods out for it, and it really is designed with CO-OP style play in mind, not just tacked on. Have been holding back on it due to lots of patching going on and waiting to see if it stablises, I guess now is the time to grab it.

As for Age of Mythology - probably a bit too complicated, has to be able to pick it up and play for 1/2 hour without any hassle.

Many thanks for the tips Certis.

mental note to self - make sure to check out *ALL* the features on games in the future. DOH!

Dungeon Siege would get my vote. I had far, far more fun with that co-op than I did solo. Still end up stuck with those wacky levelling dynamics, but it''s fun as heck while it lasts.

There''s also an entire extra multiplayer world that''s pretty darn interesting, and generally better designed than the single player campaign.....

Something about NWN just didn''t work for me. Don''t know why. I just couldn''t stay interested in it after I finished it.

Massive Multiplayer what evers, a good friend of mine and his wife got hooked on them (I got them into our EQ guild way back when it was the place to be)...they love playing them as a team.

Dungeon siege probable would be a good choice and NWN. DS was decent if you where in the room with the folks, the in game chat was awfull though, really bad chat client design IMO.

Another vote for DS. Quake 2 is a lot of fun in co-op. And if you want to go way back, there''s Doom 1&2.

No One Live Forever 2 is pretty cool in co-op mode too! DS was fun for a bit, but those click-click-click-click games get a little boring to me after a whole day of ''em. Although that was one of the few that I actually did get my wife(non-gamer) to sit down and play for a bit.

Well, on my topic of the day, have you considered a MMOG? Remember, you don''t have to play it the same way as everyone else around you. Just have your wife and yourself play the game as you want, depending on your poison of choice, take up a tradeskill, adventure and explore, whatever. These games, are after all, meant to be shared experiences. Depending on how much you put into the game, you can get quite a lot out of them.

Freelancer is a lot of fun Co-Op. Plays kind of like a mix between Privateer and Diablo.

Could you elaborate a bit? I''m seriously thinking of getting this and would consider picking up a second copy for my lan if the co-op is really fun.

How is Freelancer like Diablo in space? Well, it''s addicting as all get out for one! It''s really fun for two! It''s a purely mouse driven game and extremely simple. Basically, if you can point and click you can play this game.
However, the game is huge. You can spend literal hours and not make it all the way around the game universe. The individual systems are huge and there''s always things to find! The game''s biggest low-point IMO is that fact you can''t own multiple ships. So, when you feel the need to just go out and do some freightering, you have to find a good one and change out your fighter for it. But that''s a small quibble.
I play Diablo 2 with my g/f quite a bit. Shooter games aren''t up her alley but if your wife likes Diablo 2 and Serious Sam, this game will probably be right up you guys'' alley!

I''ve logged about forty hours on the evilavatar.com server. unfortunately the administrator doesn''t seem to really care if the server stays up or not. That''s the bad part. Your characters are stored on the server and when the server leaves so does you characters. So, I''ve essentially lost forty hours of game time.

Okay thanks for all the great tips everyone.

We are gonna play DS and there are a few mods out there to keep us going for a while.

After that we will give NWN a run and all the user created stuff for that.

By then I should hopefully be able to upgrade the second machine to run Freelancer.

It looks like all this will keep us busy for a while. Its great to be a gamer.

Once again. Many thanks for all your help.
