Blood Bowl game Catch-All

Oh man. Nerdgasm.

I did some necromunda themed maps for Quake 2/3, but man that's going back some. I want more Necromunda kthx.

!!!!!!

I can't believe someone said that. Well, first of all because Blood Bowl is much better but also because I thought Necromunda was long forgotten. I got hooked on this game and bought every book and expansion there is.

It's also on Specialist Games' range of 'free games' now, meaning you can get the PDFs of the rules for free just like Blood Bowl

I'd like another epic spacemarine game.

THQ has the rights to Necromunda right now. Maybe if Blood Bowl does well enough we'll see pc versions of all the games that GW no longer supports.

Anyway I'm just happy they have turn based play as an option.

Wow! Just wow. That movie makes missing the beta hurt so much more...

I'd love to see a Necromunda or Mordheim game.

EDIT: After watching that trailer I'm pretty excited for this.

Honestly, this is my most anticipated game for the year. I can't wait!

Is there any kind of release date? or am I a filthy skimmer?

Amen.

I think I read Q2 09 as release date somewhere

Bloody hell, this looks like a laugh. GWJ league, anyone?

I'd certainly be up for that.

360 version for me. Hopefully there will be enough guys picking it up for some online games. Never played before, but always wanted to.

Certainly is a nice change of pace from football games of the NFL/Madden persuasion.

I'll be all over that if the developers let me.

I'm getting more and more excited and this is the version I'd be going for as well.

Football, brutal murder, dress-up and painting too?

Sign me up!

I'm quite pleased, Penny-Arcade talked about it Friday

I'd sent them an email about the videos, asking them to "do their thing" (talk about it) but I really don't know if it had any incidence. I'd rather think the sheer awesomeness of that video was the only reason they mentionned it. Hopefully this will bring a lot of players back for the videogame version of the game.

More sales = more chances of Dungeonbowl, more teams, sequels, etc. and I'd love that.

I'm down for a league with fellow goodjers. I think we'll need to do one for each system we have enough players. We may need a website type of thing to run that stuff. Can't wait

So it's Mutant League Football with customization and the Warhammer license? Why yes, I am salivating.

Hum, ok so I agree, that's what it is basically.

But it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine so I feel I must say it-- Blood-Bowl was created in 1987 so came long before Mutant League Football, which also lacked the strategy/rpg/turn-based aspect of the tabletop game. It's almost 100% sure that Blood Bowl inspired Mutant League Football though as it was absolutely thriving with geeks in the early 90s when the second edition was released.

Of course both kick ass and all is well. Blood Bowl will be playable in real time just like a new Mutant League would and also turn-based for fans of the original

Sounds like you're describing the Lingerie Bowl if it was run by OJ Simpson.

Never played Blood Bowl before, but this looks like a lot of fun

Never played BB (not for lack of wanting) but will definitely be picking this up for the 360 and am in if we get a league up.

Yeah, I enjoyed Chaos League and every now and then I think I'd like to re-install it and play some more, but the DRM always stops me. Shame that they're going with the same system, because I won't get it.

Did a Q&A with the Cyanide CEO that answers some of the basics.

Reason I'm pimping this is that I'm doing a follow up in a couple of weeks so if you want anything specific answered please just let me know. I believe the PC version will be StarForce free btw. I was told that by PR and not the devs, but still...

Sold.

Awesome stuff, I hope no StarForce is true!

Anyway, I'm aware of the quality of the game, and I probably won't care about the quality of AI (as I have a dozen prospective players waiting for a league if this game does not totally suck). What I want to know is primarily if there's a solid private league system, how it will work, how customizable is it and the teams in it (look, etc) and what kind of DRM/game connectivity are they rocking.

Very interesting interview Bill! I was dying to ask them questions regarding the game and you've answered a lot of them already.

But here's a couple

- Were there any rules that they had to leave out due to limitations?
- Is the game going to include well known Star Players like Mighty Zug and Griff Oberwald?
- Was leaving out League Play from portable versions due to hardware limitations or time/budget restrictions?
- Does the game have a publisher for every region of the globe Blood Bowl is played and will all versions be released simultaneously?

Thanks for the questions. I'll certainly follow up re: the DRM stuff. I know there are private leagues and that you can customize a lot of that, but the details..I'll ask.

I was told it's nearly 100% Living Rules 5.0, and in speaking with a fellow who is in the beta and who is also a lifelong Blood Bowler he says it's "freaking awesome" and is pretty much a direct port so take it FWIW. But I'll see what rules had to be omitted. NO one I spoke with even plays the real time mode, which really isn't a shock. It was a big gripe with a lot of hardcore Chaos League players because they wanted it to be like BB. I can relate.

Oh, I also found out: no hot seat offline leagues, which sucks. It looks like multiplayer leagues wil be online only although you can play a solo league against the AI with all the trimmings.

Abner says PC version is still a go for June but that the Xbox 360 version is pushed to September.

If you're interested in the PC version, you should also keep an eye out for an open multiplayer beta in the coming weeks.
