Visit my site and tell me what you think, please?

Hi there, how are you? I'm writing to ask y'all a favor. I've been tweaking my site now for some time, and thanks to the brilliant CMS, e107, I think I have the final design nailed down. Could y'all visit my site and let me know if you have any questions, comments, or problems regarding its design or usability??

BTW, this isn't just a mere plug for my site, I really am concerned about making the best site possible, since this site is basically a large portfolio for my writing work, in order to lure in perspective employers. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

/me likes! The only thing that strikes me as a bit off is the A-10 pic at the top. Great pic and all but its too light, nice lay-out and colors though.

Nice Site. I like the mix of gaming news and headlines from the real world.

Nice site! I also like the colors, very easy on my eye''s.

I personally preferred the two previous designs.

Thanks for the feedback so far, guys. I''m continuously working on the logo, so it''s not final yet. Also, JD, by ""previous two designs,"" what specifically are you referring to?

The white/grey-blue designs.

Well, to be more specific. Part of it is personal preference (preferring dark text on light backgrounds over vice-versa attempts - e.g. Gamespot-style), also, IMO they looked somewhat ''tidier''. I forgot how the design you used like 3 months ago looked like exactly, but I found that one to be ok as well.

You''ve been visiting my site for three months? I''m touched. :)Thank you. I like the darker look of this site, but my favorite feature is that there''s no icon mixed in with the text.

Good site, but I personally prefer my text dark on light, but that''s just me! another one for my favorites bookmarks.

Wow, that''s so nice, and means a lot to me. Thanks so much!

Great effort mate.

At the cost of no longer looking ''l33t'' and hardcore, please bear this in mind: A black background, as any graphic designer will tell you, is much harder on the eye. You''ll find a white background with black text (similar to GWJ) is much more legible and your audience will ultimately prefer it.

Luther, I''m glad you noticed that. When designing the site, we decided first and foremost readability above style, and immediately dispensed with any talk of dark backgrounds. That''s not to say that they''re always bad, and there are certainly situations where a stylized presentation has merit (particularly if you''re focused on displaying your design talents), but I also tend to believe that dark text on light background with larger font type (12) is the easiest way to read. GWJ may not be the prettiest site on the net, but I think it''s quite readable.

With that said, I think, Brian, that you''ve got an outstanding site, a clear layout, and an artistic eye. I am one of those people who thinks, however, that italics can be overused, and if I had any suggesting above possibly working on text/background contrast, it would be lighten up on the italics. Otherwise, quite attractive.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I''ll see what I can do about implementing them, since I''m no programmer

Welp, my friends, given the comments here and elsewhere, I decided to toss out my last design for something more efficient, readable, and usable. I hope it''s to your liking. Thanks for all the helpful input, folks.
