Metroid Cleans up

I can''t say that I''m shocked. Unfortunately I''ve not had the chance to sit down with Prime, but I truly wish I could. If a Gamecube ever graces my home, it would be my first buy.

Metriod was a game I always liked. Never played this version, I''m sure it''s good though.

Nintendo is going to be starting a new promotion soon.
Buy a gamecube for 150 and get your choice of Prime, RE:0, or Eternal Darkness for free.

That is a tempting promotion. Going to be a hard sell with the now hormonally unbalanced wife, though.

I''m battling my way through Prime right now. (Finally through the Phazon Mines) It''s an incredibly well thought out game with the exception of back tracking and ""save stations"" (we all know the stance on THOSE in these forums).

It seems a perfect balance between hard and fun. The music is fantastic, even the space techno/rock mix that jams while the enemies are near. (If I heard it now I may duck for cover, damn Space Pirates!!!)

Not really trying to give a review here, but just wanted to say the game is well worth any nomination it gets.

Amen, its keeping me from playing splinter cell. So that should be an indication of how good it is.

I didn''t mind the backtracking or the save stations, but what did drive me nuts was the constant scanning. Ugh! I really disliked that aspect of the game. And to tell the truth I''m not a big fan of bass battles anymore either.

Other than those two things I thought the game was fantastic. One of the years best without a doubt. I can''t wait to see what they do with the next one.

And NoE keeps me from playing Metroid Prime.

So far there has only been one part of the game where I felt screwed by having to use the save station. Nothing like playing for a while, doing well only to get wasted and have to do the same hour and a half over. UGH. (**throws wavebird across room**)

Otherwise the save stations are ""some what"" well placed.

I''m at 46% right now and have put about 13 hours in, already worth my $49.99.

And to tell the truth I''m not a big fan of bass battles anymore either.

I''m not a fan of bass battles either; However, catfish battles are a different story.

I have one simple request - sharks with friggin'' laser
beams attached to their heads, and it can''t be done? Remind me again why I pay you people?

What do we have?

NUMBER TWO
Sea bass.

DR. EVIL
Right.

NUMBER TWO
They''re mutated sea bass.

DR. EVIL
Really? Are they ill-tempered?

That''s impressive. When I haven''t been watching the Little Wumpus (no, that''s not a euphemism), I''ve been playing Splinter Cell and am really enjoying it. The three meager slots for checkpoint saves are annoying, especially when you''re forced to hear the same dialogue again and again. It doesn''t give you a lot of incentive to experiment. Going all the way back to a checkpoint makes me impatient to get to where I originally messed up, which makes me a little less cautious... causing me to mess up again, etc.

That aside, I''m digging it. If a GameCube ever comes my way, I''ll definitely have to check out Metroid.

Smartass!

I- I''m REALLY sorry sir. Please, I beg of you, don''t tell Lord Certis or Lord Elysium.

I really enjoyed the original Metroid on the NES as a revolutionary gaming experience. The SNES version was great as well. I am in the Ice area of Prime right now and I stopped playing a month ago. I am not sure why I lost interest. I do want to pick it up, but I haven''t felt compelled to finish the game up.
