So has anyone picked this up yet? I'm sooo tempted to buy it, but I haven't played a rail shooter in years and I'm not sure if my tastes have changed so much i may not like it. Damn though, it sure is pretty, an dseems to be getting pretty good reviews.
I was going to pick it up, but after playing the demo, not anymore...

I looked for this one at a couple of local Best Buy''s today, but had no luck. I plan to seek it out again tomorrow. There''s a good chance you could see some first impressions on the site in the next few days.

From what I hear the full game is MUCH better then the demo. Remember the demo you played is the E3 demo. Very very old code. Nearly everything has been improved and tightened up.
My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.

That''s what I keep reading too. I think I''ve pretty much decided I''m gonna give it a go. If I can find it that is. The few places where I''ve seen people talking about it so far are really praising it.

Just picked it up today. The game sure is pretty, and never slows down. I''m not very far into it yet, so I can''t say too much about the game as a whole, but I''ve had a lot of fun with it so far.
Worst signature ever.
I will second that. sure is pretty, and fun. I picked that and war of the monsters up today. war of the monsters is ok, but I will probably return it after I beat it once. pretty simplistic.

The latest demo is the one from XBox mag about 2 months ago, I highly doubt that would be the exact same code as the E3 demo. There is too much time difference...
It would be {ableist slur} of the company to send out such an old demo when there have obviously been improvements to the game code, framerate, and the general dynamics of the game.

Don''t forget that the magazine has a lead time on that stuff as well, anywhere from 2-3 months in most cases. so while it may not be E3 code, it would still be pretty old.

We had that same demo running at the Xboxworld.nl stand at Gamexpo, I was quite impressed to say the least. It will be a tough time deciding between this one and DOAX though, I would rather go for the game with extended boob... uhh multiplayer fun.
Actually, releasing slightly modified E3 demo code as your public demo is a relatively common practice. Preparing, coding and compiling a demo is a pretty major resource drain/scheduling headache, and, needless to say, preparing multiple iterations thereof compounds the problem. That''s why Nintendo''s Cube Club demos were almost identical to their E3 counterparts, and also why many game demos you find on magazine discs are identical to or modified versions of their respective E3 kiosk demos.
As for Orta, picking it up today, and I''m pretty excited. Sometimes pretty graphics and old school shooting are all you need...

That''s it. I''m off to Best Buy again to needlessly spend money.

I just got this yesterday, and I played about an hour of it. The controls are fairly easy to use, the graphics sure are ""purdy"", and the music rocks. And the voiceovers... wow. I know it''s a madeup language, but it sure sounds nice. I''m going to go play it right now!

Picked this one up today. Put a couple of solid hours in on it, and enjoying it so far. It''s damn difficult, though. Least it is for me. That''s not really a criticism. Nothing wrong with a good difficult game, as long as it''s good. I''ll have some impressions from more play in the next few days.

Please do give us your impressions, I would really like to know if this one is worth picking up. Now surprisingly I don''t recall me disagreeing with any decisions you made yet so I do consider your opinion importent
The game is tough, but in a good way. The tough parts are usually hard until you try something different. Case in point, I''m trying to shoot down these shield like things that are blasting fireballs at me. After morphing a couple of times, I have this idea to speed forward, and voila! they aren''t so tough when you hit them from behind.
This game is damn cool.

So is this the typical console type game where you die and then have to start the level over? I''m somewhat interested liking dragons :), but I''m dam picky about having to replay stuff.

Did Samurai Jack ever get back to the past?
They at least included the option ""Restart Level at Boss,"" so if you got to the boss you don''t have to go through the whole darn thing again.
The more I play this game, the cooler it gets. The Pandora''s Box Option is kickass. If only I knew what exactly I am doing to unlock stuff in it.
The Boss fights so far (I am on the third episode) have been epic. Lots of fun. Whoever likened it to Ikaruga was correct. the secret lies in knowing which form to use.
Now if only my fiancee would finish watching TV.....
Truer words, have not yet been spoken on these boards. A section that seems agonizing in one form, is suddenly a breeze in another.
Griffon, yes, I think you will end up playing a lot of the game over. There is no in mission save, though once you''ve reached the boss, you only have to restart that fight. I''ve done my Female Doggoing about cutting the gamer out on saves, to I''ll hold that back for another day, but it can be frustrating at times.
Still, there''s a lot to like about Panzer Dragoon Orta, and I think there''re going to be a lot of gamers for whom this fits the bill nicely.

I gave it a rent today and I can already tell that this is not a game someone like me should buy. I just don''t think I have what it takes to keep up with all the missles and the dragons and the ships with the screaming and the EXPLODING.
I''ll keep at it until my rental period is up though, it may grow on me.
