EA Continues Draconian DRM Policies - General DRM Discussion (Thread Title Change)

I'm completely confused as to the logic behind these DRM decisions because from what publishers are saying, the majority of people won't ever install on more than 3 PCs.... which would lead me to the conclusion that a large portion of that majority would also not lend the game to more than 2 of their friends.

DRM is basically there to convince shareholders and people that don't know any better that their investment is safe. Stopping piracy is really down to stopping the distribution hubs and keeping the game from leaking before it hits retail. The home DRM to stop casual piracy is really like the TSA, it's security theater.

Which is why it pisses me off so bad when it inconveniences people.

For a moment there i thought you wrote T&A..... LOL!

I just hate having the 'rights' to something being removed from 'peoples' hands. I'm not a huge socialist or libertarian and i remember one time i was basically laughed at in another thread because i suggested government intervention.... i just have a bit in my mind which dictates what i think is right and wrong and i think deceiving the consumer, changing full-priced products to being rentals or services and releasing shoddy software which is 'protected' by license agreements which allow the publisher and developer to do whatever they want is wrong.
