Gears & Beers Fridays

If you guys see me playing Fallout 3, send me an invite and I'll switch to Gears 2.

Ahhhh. So much better, thanks.

Or hold their injured bodies in front of you for their friends to shoot while you idly plink away. Just like life!

Yo Gorilla,

Sorry for the confusion/drop last night. I hope your hoarding was good!

Well, I didn't have much of a good time. Kept getting stuck with incompetent people in the two games I tried. Haven't even gotten to Wave 15 in either case.

Yourself, though, I saw that you were on Wave 20 when I left. Manson map really really blows in Horde mode (lost of places for the Locust to get lost in, so it slows things down a lot), but I hope you had a good time.

Yeah, we threw you an invite at one point, but I think you must have still been in the midst of the pain. We made it up to 40 before some dipwit (a.k.a. me) said it was late and he had to go to bed. Security is a fun map for horde, at least if you define fun as being 'keeping bloodmounts at bay'

I'd think you would define fun on that map as dodging out of the way of a grenade only to be sliced to bits by the security lasers.

I've played way too much Horde but on random levels. Had fun last night on security. But I don't know what levels I've done and haven't done for the achievement. I guess since we went to 40 last night, its between 40 and 50. I know I've done at least 50 and a few below that, so my guess is 40-45 or so.

That is the most lag I've had in Horde though. No excuse, but that did make me worse than usual.

Security and Blood Drive are by far the best Horde maps.

If you fire up your own Horde lobby, you can see the levels you're missing greyed out in the level select dropdown box.

No - fun is having the wave end with you standing where the lasers reappear, and then getting insta-killed at the start of the next one.

That was weird last night. My internet is normally pretty good for hosting. I suppose I'll leave that to others in the future, at least for Horde. But nonetheless, it was a great time all around.

Well, I'm up for more Horde over break, Gorilla. I can spend some late nights...and if you host the game, you can start it at the highest level you've already done (as Danjo says), saving a bit of time (although, those are good times!) The key is, though, not to start on a level that's gonna' have fricking bloodmounts.

I really despise Security, though. It sort of takes some of the fun out of it with everything trapped outside like that. The other night we did have quite a bit of success on Mansion, and it was a hell of a lot of fun.

I'm happy to try Blood Drive, though, as I don't think I've even played on that map yet.

Hmmm...I wonder what Horde on Tyro Station would be like. Does the train still come?

By the way, thanks Jayhawker, for kicking me in this direction. Last night was the most fun I've had MP since Halo 3. Mostly because people actually talk and communicate, even if we don't always coordinate that well.

I think I'm going to enjoy having this in my collection, a lot.

And Inigo, all those requests to play that you've been sending me for years, now you can send them and I won't always ignore you (he used to send me requests and I never even owned the game).

No, the train doesn't come. There are ramps on the tracks so the Locust can cross them.

I still believe that the best map for Horde is Day One. You grab the shield from the arcade, go up to the mortar, use the shield to block the stairs, launch raining death on everything and win.

I played Day One yesterday. That was tense. There were just two of us remaining, we were locked up on the scaffolds, the Boomies from down on the street kept hammering away at us but we couldn't respond because our shield got kicked down and we had Bloodmounts filing up the stairs in a steady stream. Good times.

roll call for BLACK FRIDAY FRAG FEST!!!

Me and my strained back will be playing.

I'm down for some Gears and **take a sip of bourbon**.

After the Habs hopefully crush the Caps I'll either join you guys or play CoD:WaW with real friends.

One thing is sure. I'll be drunk.

I'll be there

I'd love to jump into some Gears tonight. I will try to find people, but if anyone's getting a room (esp. Horde!) together, send me an invite? Thanks.

I'll be 'round

Awesome, DS...good to hear you've joined the crowd!

It's looking pretty good here.

OK, so I have to wait until I get my repaired console back before I canb re-download the flashback map pack. Keep that in mind if you are going to invite me to a game.

I'll just be sitting here in the corner....

Sorry about last night, guys. I just wasn't into it at all.

Mystic, if it helps any, I felt a lot like you the way my chainsaw was working last night. Maybe I channeled your spirit for our game...

Yes. Firesloth permanently attached his chainsaw to my face.

Too bad, you missed my tour-de-force in which I killed three team mates with proxy mines.

Truley, I was en fuego.

I got really pissed at the end of the night. Not at any certain one, but more at the game's multiplayer flaws. Sorry for being a downer towards the end.

I've been thinking the same thing for a while now, and I think I prefer the enemies who aren't just all rushing at me.

Who's up for Horde later? I just got my "Dirty, Dirty Horde" achievement in a 3-man party and would like to do more later with a full team.

Wow, that's impressive. What difficulty level?

And, DS, I was thinking it was more your back that was permanently impaled. I seemed to have a lot of luck sneaking up on people last night. I really have never liked Canals until last night!

I'll play with you. I'm cooking dinner right now, but I'll hop online after, and just send me an invite. I have so much work to do and I can't bring myself to do it.
