"24" Season 7 & 24 Redemption

On Sunday the TV series "24" came back with it's 2 hour event " 24 Redemption".

24 's season premiere starts on Sunday, January 11th, 2009 8/7C and will be shown over two days, 2 hours each day.

I'm kind of surprised I couldn't find a 24 thread already. Either it's not named anything obvious or the search function failed me.

So I started this one.

Is it supposed to be ironic that the UN worker is French sounding and is portrayed as a coward and immediately gives up information when banged around a little bit?

Damnit, I don't remember if I set my DVR for this one. I've had it set up for 24 since the last season, hopefully this one is covered too. I'm looking forward to it, with a caveat that their won't be any groundbreaking creative strokes. I'm willing to settle with that as long as the action is implemented well.

Jack + Africa = Jafrica

Felt like a good start to a season we'll never see. Given its origins, that sounds about right. Its just too bad they wasted Robert Carlysle(sp?) on this short series.

I haven't watched since like season 3 or 4 and I got all confused thinking this was the start of a new season not a prelude.

Was pretty good and was nice that they switched the bad guys up. Was kinda getting bored of the whole domestic terrorist stuff. Jack Bauer international man of ass kicking is way cooler.

Yea they seemed pretty set on sewering the UN. Each scene they would escalate how much of a douche the guy was until I was like come on the guy cant be that much of a prick.

I think my enthusiasm got knocked down from the height of how this movie went after I saw the preview for next season.

Damn it, I knew I was forgetting something last weekend. I'll see if it's on hulu or something.

How many people have watched the first 17 minutes of Season 7 from the Redemption DVD?

*Not sure how to mark SPOILERS, BUT SPOILERS AHEAD*

It's pretty action packed, with Tony Almeida already showing up and playing a major role right from the introduction. I suspect he won't make it past hour 12. Jon Voight was also incredibly bad ass in his showing during Redemption. I suspect I'll like him as a villain.

I gave up when the California city got nuked and Kumar was supposed to be a terrorist.

Season 7 is in full swing now, 4 episodes in, and this thread need to rise from its grave.

I've only been able to sit and watch the first 2 episodes so far, but I'm liking how it has started out.

I can't be the only 24 fan still around, right?

Despite the last season, I am giving Jack one more chance, too.

Ignore the TV "movie". That one sucked. This season is great so far.

I'll watch the first episodes when I get a chance, hopefully some time this week. I didn't much care for Season 6 but watching Jack Bauer punch people in the face never really gets old for me.

I've never watched 24 but decided to try it out this season. I'm liking it so far.

Season 6 was not good. At all. Do watch through the first 3 episodes of this season though, there's a couple of really brilliant lines in the third hour that you don't want to miss.

SO far it's very promising. It's funny how quickly Jack gets back into working against the govt but be doing it a favor at the same time. I also found it funny how the woman FBI agent is acting more and more like Jack.

Also this season made me realize how much I have forgotten from the previous seasons.

I've watched the first four hours. Even though "Redemption" wasn't great, having watched it helped with some background for this season.

It's a bit of a reboot as now there's Jack and no CTU.

Thay keep pushing the message "we no longer do whatever it takes to get the job done regardless of whether it's illegal or immoral or both, especially regarding torture" at us. And Jack is being taken by all as the poster-boy of the old ways; stay around him too much and you're likely to be corrupted.

Strangely though, torture (or at least the threat of it) by Jack still seems always to produce accurate results. It would be a real plot twist for one of Jack's interrogations to produce completely bogus information because the poor schmuck being questioned felt the need to say *something* to get it over with.

Yeah, but given the network it's on, I don't think that'll happen

/Please don't move to P&C, pleeease.

I like that there's a little Jack in training. And he choked her. That was awesome.

Methos' character seems cool. I'd like for him to be the villain until the end.

I'd hope for a knockdown drag-out fight between Tony and Methos for one, and Jack and General Genocide. That'd be nice this season.

Predictability, thy name is 24.

But who will be trapped by a mountain lion this season?

I think we should come up with a 24 drinking game, where you drink every time someone says stuff like:

protocol
perimeter
We don't have time for this!

Add Jack saying, "Damn it!".

Honestly, my reactions went like this:

Sunday night - "Hey, they're actually trying something different."

Monday night - "Oh, wait, it's the same old, same old."

Don't. Kiefer Sutherland once said in an interview that when he found out college kids were doing drinking games every time he said "Dammit," he intentionally ad-libbed about thirteen of them into one rant that made it to air.

How many times are we going to have to sit through the same conversation with the President and her adviser. I hate poorly done exposition, I especially hate repetitive exposition.

Not really.

When oh when will they kill off Chloe?

The CoS is the same person that Bauer tortured in something like season 4. Remember he used to be the Director of the CIA or something. That he comes back as the Chief of Staff is confusing to me. I don't see why the new president couldn't have gotten someone else in that role. As for Secretary of State, being the number one Cabinet position, you'd think he would have a bit more diplomatic personality.

On the secret Syndicate front. We've seen this group before. Jack's brother was involved with them controlling former President Logan. Also in a season before that I think the current SAS guy in charge of the operation was seen on the other end of the phone in the Mediterranean on a boat or something. It seems like we are getting closer to the Syndicate as the central plot and hence closer to the end of the series. It's possible the way this is looking that maybe the Syndicate mystery will be resolved either this season or maybe in a Season 8.
