LOTRO - Anyone Planning To Play Moria?

I preordered the CE and will probably start logging on a bit here and there after the holidays when things settle down a bit.

Too many new MMOs in such a short time.

Um, I've not heard back from the Arcane Heroes guys yet... It would be cool to have a guild to do MoM with. Any idea how long they take to process?

It took a few days before they contacted me in game.

I pre-ordered, but having been playing for a week or 2 and sadly forgot to pre-download. After a few hours of 'patching' I seem to be far from done, but really can't put off going into work any longer.

Woot!

It is a LAUNCH! =)

I just now need to pick up my CE from gamestop now =S

OMG =) MORIA =P

Robear they most likely will try to talk to you in game. Not sure what game hours you play but that may make it difficult to hook up. I would suggest you make a post in the general section of the guild board if need be to let them know when a good time to look for you online may be.

Logged in and started a Warden for kicks. Looks coolio!

The thing that sapped my excitement for MoM more than anything else was the lack of new starting areas/content for anyone wanting to role a Warden/Runekeeper. After leveling a hunter and burglar to 50 and a champ to the high 20s I just couldn't get excited about starting over again.

I will be interested to here how Moria itself turns out, I actually never made it inside while in beta.

Okay, thanks, I'll watch in-game.

Sigh. Still loading. Won't be on tonight.

That is a weak point of this game. For those that like alts there is limited starting options 3 basically and you will funnel through some of the same areas in mid to high levels too.

I have a Warden going and while I am not turned off by going through the same content that I done a bit before I can see the argument.

Nice thing is you can jump right into the new content with your level 50 toons. Not that I have done it myself as I really want to put sometime into my warden while there are a bunch of people playing the lower levels.

Stopped playing my Warden for a bit. Doing the same starting area a fourth time made me a little crazy. (I play 4 elf characters now). So the good news is I'm wrapping up Forochel and more than half way to 51 when I'll go to Moria. If I can figure out how...

I held back the Dwarf start so I'd have something left to experience. And the Dwarf RK looks really cool, elemental, yay!

I got into Arcane Heroes last night and headed to Eregion after doing 2:1. I like Eregion, still have not seen the Mines.

One thing I didn't realize is that the $30 upgrade is download only. EB and the others only had the $40 combined edition, or the Collector's Edition. So I had to spend Tuesday night doing the DL and install.

I'm sure you know this already, but you can fast travel to any other starting town (Michel Delving, Archet, Thorin's Gate) for 1 silver as soon as you complete the intro quests. The stablemaster has those destinations "pre-programmed." Might help keep you from scratching your eyeballs out repeating starting quests for a fourth time.

I think it's true too that once you've "unlocked" the prologue of a given race, you get the option to automatically level any newly-created characters of that race to like level 5 and skip the intro material. At least, I think that's the way it is.

If you're on Landroval, look me up if you wanna do any ultra-low-level questing. I'm Taikuri, dorf rune-keeper. Also Larghetto, medium-ish level burg.

I love how there are little runeish writings which rise up from the r-k's hands while "casting." It is a bit weird how flames swirl around my chosen enemy for 3 full seconds prior to that starting fire "spell"...I know that if _I_ was wrapped in flames, I'd sure look around before the hurting began!

I cannot stand hearing the non-stop crackling lightning sound of five hojillion new RKs. It is driving me up the wall.

lol, yeah...

I believe a dev posted in the official forums and said they would be looking at toning this down

I went for the lifetime, but that other game has a strong hold on me at the moment. I'll be back though.

The dinks at EB didn't give me my pre-order code so I called them up to harangue them today. Fun.

Well I dinged 51 today in Forochel and am going to hit Moria soon-ish. LOTRO is still the best community hands down.

So what's the word? I got my Mines of Moria CE today and I'm ready to play. I'm taking a break from WAR to play LOTRO.

I'm playing on Elendilmir, but I believe most of the GWJ crew is on Landroval...

Almost 51 now, should hit that before T-Day. I'm enjoying being back in the game. Tons of questy goodness and new areas. I do find, however, that Eregion has a LOT of collection quests. A bit grindy for me, but tolerable.

As someone noted, the people in Lotro have a remarkable lack of asshattery. I had some very nice pugs over the last few days, and a few drive-by assists that were very helpful. I honestly think this is the best-looking and best storied mmo out there right now. Very engaging.

dx10 does not automatically make something good looking. Of course this is personal preference but the character models still look like complete ass to me. The landscapes on the other hand are nice.

Where did I mention dx10? I think the game is good because it's higher polygon counts than many other out there, they have great textures, and the lighting is very well done. They've also done a very good job with the design of the environments (regions, buildings, caves, etc.)

Whenever i fuss about the graphics the normal response is: "but did you see it in dx10?" Like that's the answer for me not liking the characters. I do like the environments though.

LotRO has gorgeous environments, some of the best in any game I've played. And no, I haven't seen it in DX10.

I don't like the character models very much; they're ok but not great. I especially find that a lot of the clothing just looks odd. Helms especially.

It's a great game overall. I hope and wish Turbine to see continued success and expansions with it.

I'm not a fan of the combat (some of it due to the character animations), but love the immersive chapter based quests. The other quests and crafting just sucks balls. *shrug* With a good guild to work with i can see the appeal the game can have for people and why it's so succesful. Hell i may even jump back in for awhile if their next expansion is truely going to be Rohan.

Rohan would be very cool, and of course it's adjacent to Eregion. If you head to the border, you can see the start of the rolling hills that I think Rohan will have.

Nah, Ranalin, I've been gaming and working with computers long enough not to confuse technology with good design and art work. There are no magic technologies for making a game look good. I think Turbine just has a good team doing art and location design, that's all.

Character animation I'm not as upset about, since it's hard and I remember when your character in a game was a rectangle with some smaller ones chained together sticking out. It was green if you had a normal monitor, and amber if you had a newer monitor. So, I'm incredibly happy with recent advances and I just filter out the awkwardness.

Ding 52 -- and I still haven't hit Moria yet -- just wrapping up old quest lines. Plus I realized to my horror I'm still on Volume One Book 2!!!!1111

Haha.... I'm only L20, but I need to catch up on the main quest line as well.

I'm looking to start another mmorpg, does anybody have an extra buddy pass? I played Lotro in beta but didn't really give it a fair shake.
