Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

I love the fact that Bethesda is changing the "power of the atom" quest in Fallout 3 for Japan. The double standard is great.

It's a different culture. Respecting that is one of the many acceptable double standards that I can think of.

Did CoD4 remove their nuke scene in that country? Sometimes, I think removing something like that is implying that they MAY be offended when you don't know it. Which calls attention to it when I think had it stayed in there it would have gone unnoticed.

It's a game that takes place after a nuclear apocalypse. Everything in the world is somehow related to or influenced by nuclear weapons, there is even a gun that shoots miniature nukes. How does removing one quest that involves an atomic bomb make any shred of difference, other than removing the first major moral choice from the game?

Exactly.

Edit: If Duke Nukem Forever is ever actually released, I hope they re-name the Japanese version to Duke Bomb Them With Conventional Explosives Forever - you know, so they don't offend anybody.

No idea, I don't have much of a vested interest in CoD4. As whether or not anyone may be offended, taking the quest out to prevent it from being an issue at all, simply because it could be isn't a bad thing, IMO.

Wow, extreme hyperbole much?

What part of my post was hyperbole? The Duke Nukem thing was a bit silly, but nothing else is an exaggeration.

Extrapolating the original statement to Duke was, IMO, quite clearly extreme hyperbole.

I love extreme hyperbole.
And the phrase, too. Just sort of rolls off the tongue.
"Extreme hyperbole."

Yeah.

First, allow me to don my pedant hat and argue that the phrase "extreme hyperbole" is a bit redundant, and also somewhat of a gross exaggeration in itself.

Second, is it really that much of an exaggeration? In both cases, all that is occurring is that a reference to nuclear weaponry is being removed. There is nothing in the Power of the Atom quest that links it to the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki except for the fact that it involves an atomic bomb. Besides, the game makes it quite clear that arming and detonating the bomb is an "evil" act.

Yeah.

Hang on... if hyperbole is like the extreme version of the Superbowl (hyper being one bigger than super, obviously), then what does that make extreme hyperbole?

Port wine. It don't take much.

And, Brooklyn Brewing Company's Black Chocolate Stout. My favorite beer.

It is AWESOME. I just drank one. Here you go: Beer Advocate Link.

If you like a good stout, this is one to try. It's unfortunately seasonal (October - March), but we happen to currently be in that season. Go to your local alcohol dealer and pick one up TODAY!

At this moment I am drinking a Pyramid Apricot Ale. It is quite tasty.

My homebrewed Sparkling Ginger Mead (on tap!), which I'm drinking at the moment. I'm contemplating inviting some friends over to help empty a couple of kegs, so I can put on my two newest brews, a Russian Imperial Stout and a Green Chile Pale Ale.

Nic Harris. The man can lay a hit.

If shipping weren't so cost prohibitive, I would have you send me some.

Well, if I ever make it to a goodjer S&T, I'll bring a keg.

Thank god for Sam Adams Winter Lager.

Oh, and the Bose Companion 5 speaker system. My god, music has never sounded so good.

Ohh, nice! My Klipsch 5.1 system just crapped out on me--apparently lots of people have been having a problem with the logic board (inside the subwoofer housing) frying itself shortly after the warranty period is over. Time to start dropping hints to the wife!

Tomorrow is the last day I have to work this week, and chances are pretty good they'll close the office early.

I love driving by the suberban housewife in my bald tired 96 firebird in the middle of a snowstorm while she does 15mph gripping the stearing wheel for her life in her Hummer wannabe H2 or H3. Makes my day.

Texas being ahead of Oklahoma in the BCS.

Jill Scott. She'd been on my "artists I really need to buy albums by" list for months. I should've bought her stuff ages ago.

Yum! I have a few of Belgians waiting to be enjoyed with Thanksgiving dinner--Hercule, Quintine, and Rocheforte 10. I am very thankful for them

Nice!

Hercule and Quintine I don't know, I'll be sure to check them out! We have this nice little pub at walking distance from our home, where they have around 30 Belgian beers. I've never left that place sober

Eh? What? Quit talking about me like that. I'm not Belgian.

Now I will forever associate your name with good beer. But Hercule is better.

National Dog Show!!! w00t!!!
