Citing the in-game mail crisis, GWJ Alliance Guild Master Shanker announced he was suspending his Death Knight leveling campaign to head to Northrend to work with his fellow Guild members and bring about a resolution with Blizzard insiders.
Seriously though...
Lich King launches at midnight tonight. Post your thoughts and impressions here!
I'll go out and pick it up sometime tomorrow, but I won't be there first thing. Based on the experiences over the past 2 days I'm not holding my breath that anything will be playable. If things are "up" I might just stay in OL a little while longer anyhow to finish off quests and max my skills. The worst case scenario I could imagine is for us to be knee-deep in new content then experience the kind of BS we went through this week. This would leave an incredibly bad taste in my mouth for new content I should be excited about and enjoying once I get to Northrend.
Can't wait to see the XP tick when I kill stuff again though.
I'll be there.
With bells on, son.
I'll own it...but will be watching the internets to see when the firestorm stops before I run it.
It's going to be ridiculous. I'm picking it up at midnight tonight and a buddy of mine, Cestalvie, and I are going to hole up at his place and level.
We both took Thursday and Friday off.
I'm hoping to be well on my way to 80 Monday.
Anyone have any idea of the total amount of hours required to go from 70-80?
I'm reasonably certain I will be one of the pathetic losers standing outside Best Buy tonight. Even after vowing to never ever do that again after The Burning Crusade.
I just wonder if I'll be kicking myself for being a schmuck over the next week or so. Here's hoping it's a smooth(ish) launch!
I already got my CE sitting on the table taunting me... So I will be at northrend.
Btw, bunch of us at work would like to join up with GWJ guild finally. Who should I talk to about that?
If the last month has taught me anything, it is that Blizzard has done a half-arsed job prepping for this launch. They've pushed shoddy code onto the servers in the guise of a "patch", they've lost all the mail on a prime game playing holiday by pushing a patch that was obviously not tested for even the most basic function maintenance and the server stability has been in the crapper. If I could instantly transfer the guild to another venue to get my fix, we'd all be gone.
Eh, I still have horrible memories of the 2.0 launch. Basically everything was broken, and the trees were even less balanced than they are currently.
The fact that everything has been playable, more or less, has been pretty nice. Not to sound like an apologist, but through TBC-colored glasses, this has been pretty good.
We'll see how the Borean Tundra/Howling Fjord works for load-balancing. Hopefully, it'll be better than hellfire was...

Not me. But my son will be.
Yes, I'm not above using my children to do median tasks.
Too bad I don't trust that little bastard enough to level my toon.
Hell fire on opening night was unreal on spinebreaker.
I had fun just breaking the non agression pact the server had at the time.

Yeah.... for us, that isn't happening. My guild has been leading the other alliance sunwell guilds in a few days of Horde faction boss kills(we've gotten quite a few warbears), and we're probably KoS for all the Horde now.
Now that I transfered to blackhand will be a new exp for me. I have never been on a pve server before.
But by and large world pvp has been dead even on the pvp server I came from.
I'm trying to decide what spec to use on my DK. Probably will start off Blood, but i'm a huge sucker for dual wielding and seriously thinking about Frost
I know absolutly nothing about about wotlk and dks.
I am going into this blind.

Always nice to see long-term Goodjers join the guild and we have several of note over the past few months. Look forward to seeing y'all online.

I am pretty much. Just pulled up the talent builder for it for the first time this morning. I'm seeing if going at the expansion blind and playing it instead of "working" it will make a difference for me and not turn me off.
Yeah we have already all xfered to BH We didn't join up yet because we wanted to get the hang of the server first
Oh yeah, when TBC came out, Outland was littered with corpses on Kil'Jaedan... I do NOT have any fund memory of that... Ended up having to wake at at 3am for a week to just get my quests done... (and I still get ganked at those hours...)

Haha - awesome. You need to buy your son a custom hat that says "[Enix's Minion]" on it (I tried using greater-than/less-than, but that obviously didn't work...you get it).
The best analogy for what it is like on opening day is an old western saloon. Tensions are high, everyone is on edge but not being aggressive. All of the sudden one drunkard runs comes in and throws the first punch (usually a night elf rogue) and the entire bar (zone) erupts into chaos. Half hour later, everything reverts back to the state of high tension until the process repeats.
I was the ud rogue drunkard launch night of tbc.
It was awesome.
Hmm... I wonder if I can grant levels from my RAF accounts to a new DK. Should work up to level 60, right?
I just wish I could squeeze in some play time... though I guess right now I should be glad I can't play.

You could grant him levels up to 60 but there is no point. In the starting area, you start at 55 and you'll be 58 by the time you leave and you cannot skip the starting area (nor would you want to!).
I missed the launch of TBC... or at least my highest level character was wandering around STV at the time. I may pick up Wrath next time I'm in a store that carries it, or I may just wait for it to show up under my Christmas tree. I have plenty of alts I can level further towards 70 while I wait. And when I get to Borean Tundra, it won't be crowded. I'll just have to deal with a horde of Death Knights while I level.
You know what I haven't seen much of lately? Loot lag. Ahh, how I miss loot lag.

You shut your face!

And bugged mining nodes! Ah, the good old launch days of classic WoW, learning which ore not to mine lest I get bugged and have to re-log my character. Made for good booby-traps against claim jumpers though.
