If anyone who has the game, actually takes a time out to check the forums....One question:

How big is the dlc for the Gears 1 map remakes?

100mb takes 2 minutes

Thanks

Well I'm hooked. Horde mode is the perfect way for a small crowd to kill time until the match snowballs into at least 3v3. The new gametypes are... well, non-respawn, but Meatflag is at least funny enough to warrant playing. For the most part it feels a lot like Gears with new weapons, extra pretty and a very well done party system, and that's good enough for me.

I forgot how good this game is!!!

Mine.

The mailman just delived 'the package.'

Can't wait to play some Gears 2nite!

Just got back with it. Will be on in 15-20 minutes. If anyone wants to do some co-op, look me up.

For anyone who ordered the exclusive lancer, if you've tried putting batteries in and the trigger results in no sound, it appears to be because of a very slight and fixable manufacturing defect. The plastics supports that hold the + side battery plate in place are a hair too wide and prevent contact from the tip of the C battery on the plate for some people. At least on my unit and others reported in Amazon. If you put something like a paperclip there to temporarily complete the contact, you'll hear the chainsaw kick into action upon pulling the trigger as expected.

So, there appears to be a simple user fix, but I've written a note to NECA to see how they respond. I'm not sure its worth returning the gun to Amazon over, since I could easily insert something in the battery compartment to make it work permanently but it's a bit disappointing to see it was missed in product QA.

Geez, the servers must be getting hammered. Downloading the flashback map pack...slooooooowly.

GoW2 get! It's sitting in the car, mocking me as I toil away the hours to pay for it.. Hope to see some of you online (late PST) tonight.

I got it, just waiting for the maps to finish and I will be there

I can't wait so close

I could go get my copy tonight, or I could stay home and screw with my new PC.

Decisions, decisions.

I'm diggin the bullets slowing down aggressors thing. I tried rushing a pair of the goons early in the campaign and got tore to shreds before I could get to them. Took me a second to realize what had happened, and the implications, and it's all good. Bullets like rain off a duck's back seems silly, now.

This thing is huge.

Has anyone been able to use the code for the Gold Lancer? I tried to do it and a message popped up which stated that I couldn't download the gold lancer at that time. Now, every time I reenter the code, it's invalid. I went into a multiplayer match and I don't have it. It's not in any of the options. Did this happen to anyone else?

EDIT: Seems like I am not the only one with this issue. Go into Account Management and keep trying until it works.

Lancer? Me, I got a code for a golden Horde gun -- Hammerhead.

Couldn't get into a game for some reason...kept giving me the "downloadable content" error. Started playing the SP campaign, and it is full of win. Well, the game mechanics anyway. The story so far is atrocious, but who plays GoW for the story?

I'm okay with the story sucking, I just wish they'd stop interrupting me so frikkin' often with it.

I have never played the first Gears of War. Is that game required for me to enjoy the second one?

Did you download the revamped map pack? There should be a code for you to redeem.

No.

I've played about 2/3rds of the campaign. Mostly more of the same, although there are some really, really good firefights sprinkled in there.

When Dom's subplot reaches it's conclusion... I was touched. Predictable, yet they reached for an emotional chord and succeeded.

Some of the setpieces in Gears 2 are very erm... Epic.

The leadup to landown was especially incredible given that there wasn't a single framerate dip during the whole battle, and what was reserved as bosses in Gears 1 you see regularily during your fighting in Gears 2. The new weapons are great, I especially like the gorgon pistol and the new improved hammerburst. Multiplayer is a blast, I've not yet touched all the new maps but the balance seems to be spot on and I haven't found any I hate like rooftops

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. It's been a while since I played the single player campaign in the first game, but I don't remember quite so many cutscenes. Oh well. Things really seem to open up once you get past Landown. I'm definitely enjoying it so far.

Also, it's hard to go from Far Cry 2 to Gears 2. It makes the rails just that much more painful.

This game feels like an improvement over the first game in pretty much every possible way.

To anyone whose invite I snubbed today, I apologize, but I was desperately trying to finish my singleplayer campaign before I had to leave for work. I managed, if only just. Did it on Hardcore. Now I've gotta rope a buddy of mine into playing through on Insane

Also, Horde mode is awesome.

Got the game today, keep an eye out for me!

Horde mode is great. I played that for like 4 hours today. 5 of us managed to get to wave 18.

I'm hating the story mode though. There's some cool, intense stuff but things like having to do the boss fight on the boat 10 times really killed the flow. Its not even that we couldnt figure out what to do on this stupid Metroid-inspired boss. Its bugs keeping us from doing them or getting us killed while trying to do them.

The innards / tomb raider level wasnt any fun either. Other than those two things none of the set pieces has been at all memorable either.

The effectiveness of the chainsaw combined with the new way they mask lag pretty much breaks the adversarial mode.

How so? I haven't played yet and I assume it might be different from Gears 1 but to declare it broken seems harsh.

Hey guys im sorry for my complaining the last couple nights, I'll stop it because it's just me doing badly but I can't wait to play with everyone again

I am enjoying the campaign, it's pretty fun though seems like alot of cutscenes, I believe im almost at act 4 and it's better than I thought it was gonna be.

I don't think it breaks it but it makes it alot different and some of the things just are strange that they did with how they mask lag.
