Looks like the latest UFC match between Silva and Cote was a disappointment. Silva appeared to be toying with Cote and let him stay in the fight for far longer than he should have. Cote's inability to continue due to a knee injury in the early part of the third round didn't make the crowd happy. Silva actually apologized to the crowd afterwards.
I think Silva shamed himself. I think his behavoir pushed him into a disrespective zone. He is the last person I would have expected that sort of behavior. Good thing the undercard was decent.
He may still be the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet right now, but he needs to get a grip on his head right now.
I wonder if he is getting drunk on his own Kool-aid.

I like Rampage. I really do. But he has a tough enough time with Wanderlei Silva let alone Anderson.
I wouldn't be surprised if GSP moved up in weight to face Silva. It would be a mega fight for UFC and Dana White would love all those PPV buys that it would bring.

That's a pretty damn good card and I'll definitely be hitting the local bar to check this one out. I'm tempted to see Lesnar/Couture but there are no other fights that I care for.

Almost every fight on the card was over in the first round and the Lesnar/Couture fight was pretty boring. It looked to me like Couture was starting to defend himself three or four blows before the ref stopped it. I think he should have been given a little more time there. Glad I didn't drop any cash on this one.
Kind of had hoped it would go a round or two... Surprised cause when Randy got hit it looked like a glancing blow, but I guess with hands as big as Brock a glancing blow is enough.
Lesnar is a monster. Just goes to show you that there is a reason you have weight classes. You just can't give away nearly 70 pounds of natural weight to a decent fighter and honestly hope to come out on top. And as much as I dislike Lesnar, I have to admit he is actually a decent fighter.

And frankly, I'd rather get in trouble with Dana White than with the Nevada State Athletic Association or, for that matter, the Nevada State Gaming Commission.
I agree to I didn't think much of Lesner at first but he is pretty good and a monster of a man. If he ever develops a good submission game he will be great.

Dana White is the president of UFC. Who is the face of the WEC. I didn't know Dana controlled the contracts in WEC also.

I really hope Kimbo Slice joins up with "The Ultimate Fighter" show. I would be interested to see if he can stack up against those guys.
Now that the largest MMA production company (Zuffa) is in the female fighter market, I would imagine that there are several unknown women in the small local organizations (There are several MMA fighters here in DE) that will be more than willing to play on a big stage. Who knows maybe women on the Ultimate fighter show. That would be a good twist to a show that is starting to get a little stale. Most weeks I fast forward to the fight and skip a the stupid crap that goes on in the house.

Oh yeah here is a local article about a woman who has been fighting in mma since 1996, Grapple Girl Michelle Farrow. She even kind of calls out Gina.

I have to admit he is actually a decent fighter.
He's getting better. Remember that Frank Mir caught him in a knee lock in his (Lesnar's) UFC debut back in February. And keep in mind that Randy Couture is 45 freakin' years old -- an eternity in pro sports, especially in one that involves getting the crap beaten out of you on a pretty regular basis.
Lesnar is impressive, but he's not unbeatable yet. Sure is scary, though.
As for women in the UFC, Dana White initially said "no way" after Elite XC met its expected demise. But somewhere along the way he got religion. I've got two guesses:
1. Gina Carano is hot. Hot = buzz. Buzz = money. And Dana White loves him some money.
2. The WEC has a case of Kimbo Slice disease. It hitched its little minor-league wagon to one guy, Urijah Faber, who had the misfortune of running his face into Mike Brown's fist a couple of weeks ago. Miguel Torres and Carlos Condit are pretty good fighters, but neither of those guys really moves the needle. The WEC needs more than one star, and Carano could be No. 2.

Some stiff. Doesn't matter. You won't remember the name before the intro or after the fight, even if Carano loses.

I disagree. Say what you will about the WEC, but it was definitely not the freakshow that was EliteXC. Urijah getting KO'ed was an eventuality as he was put up against real contenders and increasingly more difficult fights. The same was true of Condit. If you watched the Yoshimitsu Maeda fight, you'd remember how much trouble he had in the first four rounds against a skilled judoka.
EliteXC, in sharp contrast, was all about trying to preserve the tv staying power of mediocre fighters by using tomato can opposition. Urijah beat folks like Jens Pulver, Jeff Curran, and Chance Farrer -- folks with a combined record of 60-3. No one at the top bill of Elite XC ever fought a fighter with a winning record.
Folks don't watch WEC just to see Urijah Faber continue a streak. They watch it because there are high quality fights. Conversely, folks generally watch EliteXC just to see Gina Carano's boobs.
WEC is definitely *not* a freakshow. The fights are often really good. (I'm ignoring the Filho-Sonnen fight.) Condit-Mura was a war, and Torres-Maeda was one of the best fights I've seen. Best of all, WEC is on cable TV, not PPV.
My point is that the WEC hyped the hell out of its one and only star, and he got his ass kicked.
The difference, of course, is that Faber can actually fight and Slice (and Elite XC) was a joke. WEC can credibly hype a Faber-Brown rematch (everyone loves a comeback story), but Slice's loss pretty much crushed Elite.
I have always looked at the WEC as the UFC minor leagues. It will never be as big as the UFC, and I don't think it should. I wish it would be used more as a tool to groom up and comers. I think a great number of the fighters that come out of the Ultimate Fighter show would be better served by spending some time in the WEC.
In the two EliteXC events on CBS the Carano fights were the best fights of the night. EliteXC was a joke, but I think women's MMA can have a future. Carano is hot, but she is also a legit fighter. Her fights were more intense and exciting than those of her male counterparts of EliteXC.
