Hellgate London catch all

Isn't there a whole new area on the test center that will now never come out?

This is total garbage. So much for my lifetime sub.

We should form a club

Not that it sucks any less but it is for the lifetime of the game...having it be for the persons lifetime would be awesome. I wonder if you could leave something like that in your will hehe.

I also had a lifetime sub Bleh...

I was just reading through there forums, They are flagging everyones accounts as subsribers so they can play in Stonehenge till the end. Its a nice gesture. Namco-Bandi do not own the code to the game so they cannot push any patch that would update Single player. 2.0 never made it off the test server and test has been turned off for months. Hanbitsoft owns full rights to the IP and code now and are controlling the Asian servers. Maybe we will see a patch or two from them sometime down the road. I stated from the beginning that it needed a LAN component and I feel it still does. Its a shame really I loved this game (the concept more than the execution) had high hopes for it and had fun playing it while it lasted.

Would be nice if they open-sourced the server software.

"Hi, my name is jonnypolite, and I am a Hellgate London lifetime subscriber."

Managed to buy it for 20$ a couple months ago. Been playing off and on with a friend. Hoping to complete it tonight, actually. Good timing I guess.

I'm a lifer too.

Does this mean I am now dead or will die january 31st?

Will single player still work post server shut down?

O.o

Same I would have prefered to have the 150 now

damn it, this sucks

This is awesome. I will bookmark this thread and read it every time I feel bad about myself. Looking at this makes me feel... smart ;]

Out of curiousity, how does the math work for you lifetime subscribers? Have you hit the breakeven point yet?

Don't know why it wouldn't; as far as I can tell, there's no server back-and-forth when you launch the single player game.

15 mounths would be the break even point so Feb would be it. The problem is that they have not charged subscribers in 4 months and from now on they are flagging all accounts as subcribers so we really are not breaking even compared to those that paid for 8 or so months from the begining and have had a free ride since the closure of flagship

This sounds a little obnoxious of me, but I felt like the patch on the test server was really impressive. It added a lot of great stuff, maybe even enough to rekindle interest in the game. Not too little but still too late?

I'm disappointed that I'm not getting my money out of the lifetime subscription, yes, though it's hard for me to feel cheated. I knew the risks going in and I haven't played Hellgate in months so it's not like I'd have gotten my money's worth even if the game ran for 3 years at the rate I was paying. It's a real shame and I don't think there's anyone who's happy about how things have gone. Except maybe the WoW fanatics who love to see anything that's not WoW fail (present company excluded). Oh, and maybe the people who got pissed off with the tiered subscription model and are glad to see the market get a clear answer that no, it does not guarantee super duper success.

It's awesome that a game failed, or a company went under and people lost their jobs, or that people made a bad purchasing decision? I'm trying to find the funny in this situation. Please enlighten me.

So we have to feel bad when a company makes a bad product and it fails? The workers, if they were good, got jobs else where, if they hold up Hellgate as the pinnacle of their computer game developing career, do we really want them making more games?

I think the point was it's not cool to come and smirk at people who payed good money for something that had a much shorter lifespan than was advertised. The reasons it happened are immaterial.

I'm just bummed because I got it shortly after launch, yet I hardly had time to play it what with school, graduation, a wedding (you know, everyday stuff). I'd look at my Collector's Edition box and think about reinstalling the game, but life kept getting in my way. Now all I can do is play SP-- which was pretty much what I used to do online, anyway-- but not being able to party up with friends in there is a bummer for sure...

And not to rub it in for those that bought a sub, but I'm glad as hell I stuck to my "no-monthly-fees-for-games-I-already-shelled-out-60-bucks-for" policy, because I was damn close to breaking it for this one...

If it wasn't for the fact that it would take money they most likely don't want to invest you'd think they'd at least release a LAN patch or something.

Man, I feel way bad for the folks who bought the lifetime sub. As a beta tester, I'm totally glad I didn't sink the money into this one, even for the single player stuff.

Goodnight London, you'll be missed.

Sigh.. oh well.. that 150 is long gone.

O yea, I getcha, I feel bad for the people with the lifetime subscriptions. I never play a game enough to warrant one, but I'd be pisssssssed it I got screwed like lifetime subs did. The only people I think I'd trust with a lifetime sub is the Turbine people, but they don't close stuff down.

They shut down AC2.... Sniff. So much potential there.

Is there some way to reinstall and patch Hellgate to current status and wake up my sub? I'd like to have the latest content for SP, I guess. But... Maybe it's not worth it.

Ya. Your sub is still there, just log into the game like normal. I just cannot find my disc 1, so I cannot reinstall it.

I loved my Hive keeper... Hurray for Bees!

I had the same thought, but I already played it about as much as I wanted to. There was something missing in that game to keep me coming back.
