College Football 2008 Season Catch-All

Quite possibly the weirdest Tim Tebow story you'll ever read. Could this be the start of a new celebrity mohel trend?

The 'Horns hook the top rank in the polls, but how long will it last?

Hopefully not long. I can't believe OU let them back in that game. (Yes, I'm late to the party - I usually forget to come to the Sports forum)

Beat the Hell Outta Texas Tech!

It's gonna hurt more when the Jayhawks win today!

<---Wishful thinking

Good game, Boogle. The Jayhawks kept hanging around, but I kept feeling like they were going to eventually let the game get away from them. But hey, at least the Jayhawks weren't exposed as complete frauds like the Tigers last night!

Yeah, the price was for where my buddies ticket was. Mine was in a pocket of OU fans in the Texas endzone to make up for the tunnel on the OU side. Would only have gotten 75 above face value so I went. It was a rough walk out of the stadium, but I did knee a guy in the crotch who jumped in my face and yelled overrated.

I always wonder what makes people at sporting events act like crazy men, in a way they'd never act in their places of work.

I suppose we have it better than they do in Europe / the entire soccer-loving world.

I've always thought Longhorns and LSU fans (most of whom are idiotic Louisianians who didn't attend LSU) were the worst-behaved. Come to think of it, Sigsbee's uncle likes to give me crap when Texas beats A&M (it's been a quiet two years, of course ), and he didn't go there, either. Well, I guess his daughter did. But I ramble.

So: A&M didn't get past Tech, but we did a million times better against a number five team than anyone would have guessed. It was a really exciting, good game until somewhere in the fourth quarter. I wondered if this was the first game where Coach Sherman showed his personality; the offense was quite different than in previous games. Much more interesting and dynamic.

You should see what working is like in Kansas City. Kansas and Missouri fans both act like idiots. Not all of them, of curse, but enough that it really affects the workplace is a pretty negative way.

I actually grew up as a Missouri Tigers fan in St. Louis. But my family moved to Kansas (south suburban KC) and I ended up at KU. I was still pretty much a fan of both until basketball season. Then I met the Antlers, which are some of the most disgusting fans on the face of the earth. I mean chanting "Momma's boy!" over and over at a player whose mother had just died disgusting. The worst part was Norm Stewart catering to these assholes. Every school has its share of jerks, but there aren't many that make sure they have good seats for the basketball games.

Both Roy Williams and Bill Self have taken Kansas fans to task for behavior that seems to be encouraged at Mizzou.

Having grown up in Texas, but not attended any school there, I think Aggies are just natural targets. I grew up on a solid diet of Aggie jokes, mostly told by people who really have no reason to be telling them (i.e. not Tea-sips). Plus, we all know the Aggies have never actually lost a football game....they've just run out of time (told to me by my best friend's dad - he played under the Bear at A&M).

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

As a lifetime Ole Miss fan, there is genetic code built into my being to prevent ever saying anything nice about LSU. That being said, with the exception of the Grove in Oxford, I do not think you can be better treated as a visitor than in the mass of humanity surrounding an LSU football game. If you are willing to brave the traffic, you will be fed more food by LSU fans than you can possibly imagine. Of course, maybe their plan is to kill you by kindness....

Still, they know how to treat people to a good time down there.

That was hilarious! I spit out my Dr. Pepper while watching the game. I'm sure the ref was just defending himself, but it looked like he was trying to relive a little past glory...

That is indeed totally awesome. Now, if you were a fan of the team on offense? Grounds for a lynching. Otherwise, totally awesome.

Black Saturday is here - Mountaineers, beat those Paladins! Go App State!!!

What a whooping the mighty Gators are putting on Kentucky. Style points!

Well, if you're a fan of offense, Penn State v. Ohio State isn't for you at the moment.

Unbelievable!

Wow. Textbook. You can't get pro teams to run the 2-min like that.

But I bet you can get a pro defense to knock the ball into the receivers hands in the endzone.

If the the clock stopped after every first down they could. My thought during that drive was that I wish they did at least during the last two minutes of each half. It's great to watch.

Ridiculous.

That's freaking insane. Someone's going to be in some trouble. Any idea how long they were sitting there?

Yep, U of H just can't catch a break.

This weekend: Texas Tech is ranked 5, the highest in school history. They get to play the number 1 ranked, in-state, loathed opponent Texas in Lubbock. This ought to be really exciting.

No, but from what I heard on the Jim Rome show, the injury to the player in question is so bad that he may never take the field again.

Every story I've seen today said that he's expected to be back next year. Here's one.

AP wrote:

Edwards is expected to make a full recovery.

"The doctor said I will be good, ready for next season," Edwards said.

I don't listen to Jim Rome anymore. I'm just saying...

Which is why I didn't mention it initially. None of the articles with the video I saw mentioned his condition. Still, gone for the year because of some twit from the band; someone's going to get shoved up a tuba for this.

Wonder how long it's been parked there. Probably was a long time coming.

And that JMU play made me sick. App State's at #2 right now behind these guys in the polls because of a similar comeback they had against us earlier this year. They're truly the cardiac kids this year and they've got quite the target on their backs now.

This kid is now the envy of America.
