Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams - Catch All

Pages

From Rock Paper Shotgun

This news is spreading rapidly over the net. It seems that the PS3 is good for something other than playing your Blu-Ray discs. News For Gamers have completed the PS3 version of Bioshock, to discover a fifteen second teaser for the second game. It’s apparently called Bioshock 2: The Sea Of Dreams and you’ll find images from it beneath the cut.

Images and video on the page.

I'm excited. I expect a Little Sister returning to Rapture type story line.

*edit* To make catch all and add in tanstaafl's discovery.

intriguing....

note to self : never compete with a little sister in a sandcastle building competition.

Exciting, but very oblique. Doesn't give away much at all, but then I suppose it wouldn't at this early stage. Hope it's not a rush job, and doesn't end with an escort mission and a mince boss battle.

Good. Very happy to see anything about the next Bioshock. Here's hoping they don't do a Bungie add knockoff routine.

If they sell that big daddy doll at any point I will buy it for my wife (and then keep it for myself of course).

Yeah, a very oblique teaser, but it suggests a sequel where talk had been of a prequel.

@ tetnis: I want that doll too.

Thats good but you can't have it, I claimed it. Mine. "You lose, good day sir."

Good deal. It's looking very nice so far.

I remember Ken Levine saying that he would have some involvement with the project, but it seemed to be more of a consultant-level than anything. Does anyone know how much of the original development team will be getting their hands dirty with the sequel?

BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams. A touching story of a young woman's journey of self-discovery. A genetically manipulated teen has to navigate the treacherous halls of Rapture High, find true love and struggle to accept that her adoptive parents are a mad scientist and an overprotective killing machine.

At least that's what the trailer said to me.

So it's a dating simulator then? Also, because of the subtitle, reminds me of my thread were i postulated that Bioshock was about a man in a coma....

Next Week: Newfound Glory gueststars on another episode of BioShock 2.

(Props to PA)

What kind of DRM will it have??

Same one as Bioshock, obviously!

Huh.... i can't find my Bioshock post i referenced above.... Did i imagine that? :/

BAWOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

They must be starting with a big budget this time. So I hope for the best. I.E. a strong third act, no hacking, no photography.

Cool... but I still have to finish Bioshock... I know, shame on me..
But just finished Shivering Isles lol.... not time to finish Bioshock I guess

More like a JRPG, the only thing missing is a brooding boyfriend with a huge sword and a crazy blue hairdo.

What a terrible subtitle...

I would have prefered Bioshock 2: Drowning in Rhetoric.

I wonder if Andrew Ryan will be in the sequel? The Vita Chambers were keyed to his DNA, so it's possible that he respawned in one after getting golf-clubbed to death.

It's a prequel, so probably.

Whoops, I thought it was a sequel.
/facepalm

Are we sure it's a prequel, I was under the impression that everything at this point was wild speculation.

Mmmm....

Nope, not possible. The Vita Chamber in his office is turned off, probably just so he can die. It's also one of the only points in the game that you can die for good if you don't turn the chamber on and let yourself get gunned down by turrets.

Interesting, I never noticed that.

Considering the state that Rapture was in at the end of Bioshock I don't really see how Sea of Dreams could be a sequel unless they move it out of Rapture and either onto land or into another underwater city (a la the secret secret second island of Jurassic Park 2). It should be noted that the teaser trailer takes place on a beach.

Destructoid Article]BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams is part of a prequel and at the same time is a sequel, so you’re kind of close on the interpretation of the trailer. The rising replica of Rapture can represent something to do with this or something part of a bigger surprise that everyone has to wait and see to play.

Everyone is right!

Bioshock 2! It's a prequel! It's a sequel! It's survival horror! It's a shooter! It's an RPG! It's a dessert topping! It's a floor wax!

It's the new season of Lost.

My guess: a full-length steampunk remake of Pipe Dream.
