It's the Great Pile, Charlie Brown

In honor of Halloween, Peanuts and the fact that there won't be a new one of these until January (possibly February), let's get out there and make on last valiant effort to play something old before all of the new comes rolling down the mountain.

This month's Pick of the Pile is

"Welcome to a world that knows no mercy – none is received, and none is given. Only physical and mental agility can keep you alive, though they are by no means a guarantor of life. You play the role of Geralt – an already legendary monster-slayer, but this, my friend, is not a gift and is certainly not given lightly. “The Witcher” is an immense computer game. Within its realm, you will have to assume the burden of choice. And this burden of choice, as light as it may appear, is the very thing that will both permit you to wield influence over the fate of the world, as well as get you slain prematurely." For what it's worth, I'm going with The Witcher. Let's see if I can break my horrible "beaten" streak.

Nice title

For me, the current releases I'm working through are The Witcher and Dragon Quest IV (DS).

But I really, really need to finish my Fallout 2 game in preparation for Fo3.

Keep me down for Mass Effect. I really need to get some playing time into this game before Fallout 3 and Gears 2 drop.

EDIT: Love the thread title, Hemi!

I put you down for Fallout 2 and The Witcher. DQ IV for DS is a little too new for the Pile.

Put me for Witcher on PC and Assasins Creed for 360. I have barely touched that one and I'm determined to play and finish it!

Freeagent, if a title is out for more than one platform and is essentially the "same" game, I put it in Multi-Platform. So, Assassin's Creed is in there.

I'm going old school this month.

F.E.A.R - PC

Doom 3 - PC

I'll carry over Lost Odyssey from last month, but I have a more immediate title as well: I have the next week off work, and my mission for that time is to finally finish Shadow of the Colossus.

Put me down for the Witcher as well - it's the only way I'm going to get anything done on the Pile, between that and Crysis Warhead...

Crysis PC. The perfect Pile of Shame game for a new computer - since it was essentially meant to be played for future hardware anyways.

I'll see if I can finish off Fallout in honor of Fallout 3.

Transferring Lost Odyssey over from last month. It will fall this time!

*sigh* Picking up WAR today, Sacred 2 later this week and I have exams so any pile games are going to be a challenge.

I'll make an assault on HL2:episode 1 though.

Final Fantasy IV - DS

Awesome thread. I need to finally put Okami for Wii to rest. Lets hope this is the month to do it!

I'm plugging through The Witcher at the moment myself, so might as well add me to the list.

Nice thread title! However, I have to give you a bit of work to do now - both Breath of Fire and SMB finally fell late last night

Breath of Fire was nice, although I heavily used a walkthrough to save me time - I don't have the same patience at 30 as I did at 15, and spending hours running all over looking for an item hidden under a jar somewhere in the world is not my idea of fun. It's interesting to go back and see what we put up with in the olden days... Some more music variety would have been nice as well. Aside from that, however, I really enjoyed it, and thought the fusion spells were an interesting aspect. Story was somewhat interesting as well. Still, after over 50 hours of playing/grinding, I was HIGHLY ready to move on!

Super Mario Bros. - what can be said...I caught up with the rest of the world after 20+ years. No way I'm doing the second quest right now, however.

Please add DS9 - The Fallen (PC), and I'll decide on one more later.

List should be current.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through Creed on the 360. I was really cruising and enjoying it for awhile, but I got distracted. I'll join you in trying to finish it, Freeagent...I almost have to do so before November starts, since the gaming goodness ratchets up significantly then.

The Darkness for me. Still plugging away at it!

Put me down for Mage Knight: Apocalypse. Not the most fun game I've played, but it's entertaining enough and was 99 cents through gogamer.com.

I'm coming up to speed on the 360, so put me down for Gears of War and Call of Duty 4. (Yeah, I know they aren't 360 exclusive.) Though, to be honest, I've got a lot of new stuff I'm playing so I may not get very far with either one.

Well...last month was a complete failure. I'll change it up completely this month, and join the Witcher pile-on.

Okay, I've gone back to the pile. I'm going to try Myst III again. I say "again" as if I'd gave it a real attempt. A couple of years ago I bought it, installed it, sat through the intro, chased a guy into a book, and never ran it again. Eventually an OS reinstall resulted in it not being installed anymore. So, here I go. And I've actually made progress.

Ok, I bought Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 1 on steam a while back and never even touched it. I think I should give that a whirl.

Put me down for Dead Rising (Xbox 360). Classic zombie goodness!

I'm down for Fallout and HalfLife on PC and Assassins Creed on 360.

List should be up to date. Just to reiterate for any new folks, if a title came out on more than one platform, it'll go into Multi-Platform. That way you have a better idea of how many people are playing it (it's more fun when you can actually talk about it and share your experiences... end touchie-feelie right now).

Final Fantasy IV - DS
Bioshock Xbox 360

Ok, got my other targets.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant (PS2) - Got turned onto this by a Penny-Arcade comic and loved it, but it seriously outstayed its welcome. By the time I was ready for it to end, there was another 30% of the game left which I've been chipping away at for 3 or so years now. Down to the final 10%, I think.

Half Life 2, Episode 2 (PC) - Finally bought the Orange Box in August, so...here goes.

(If I get through these, I'll add Penny Arcade 1, but not just yet).
