Deus Ex: Human Revolution Catch-All

DX2 in a vacuum would have been a pretty decent FPS with some lite RPG elements.. its just compared to the original DX in gameplay it fell way short. Basically it shouldnt be that hard to succeed with DX3 IF the developers essentially take what was in DX1 polish it the hell up with "next-gen" graphics/effects and try and convince the suits that console players will buy a fairly complicated actiony/rpg/fps.

Both the 360 and the PS3 have plenty enough "umph" to make decent sized FPS levels along the lines of the original DX. Hell if DX2 had just had larger more open levels it would have made a huge difference in its playability.

As a devoted worshiper of DX I cant help but get excited about the possibilities of another trip through the DX world.

I love Deus ex. Deus Ex 2, not so much. I hope 3 is good, of course we probably have 2 years to wait.

This is so true. DX2 levels' lack of size really killed that game.

Meh. As others have said, we'll see. But I won't get overexcited about it.

I believe that was the result of the game being developed for the XBOX as well as the PC.

There we go.

This strikes me as good news, because even if it is being developed primarily for the console the 360 has substantially more muscle than the Xbox did and they will be able to make the sprawling immersive environments I enjoyed from Deus Ex.

Now that I'm done skimming I realize I'm just reiterating what GG said, but like him I'm a huge DX fan and can't wait to see more.

I guess i'm the only one who thought Deus Ex was just meh and stopped half way through?

Yes. Go choose your tag.

I guess i'm not the only one who thought Deus Ex was just meh and stopped half way through?

Fixed that for you.

Thanks to the uber-obsessing by the likes of Shacknews and Wikipedia, we have a few ideas about what was shown in the trailer. Prequel, maybe?

A piece of art has popped up on deviant art:

Interesting, though I never get that excited about concept art.

Yeah, Rock Paper Shotgun had that bit of art last April. Looks nice enough, I guess.

This reminds me I need to finish DX1. I started a game a while ago, but got frustrated with it because it has issues running under XP (mostly speech getting cut off during cut scenes). I googled some fixes but never got around to trying them out.

I think it's still free on GameTap. You can play it there "bug-free".

I already have it on Steam. I got DX1 and 2 all in one go.

I loved DX1, DX2 was a bit of a let down but it did have its good parts, for instance the side missions were pretty sweet though the hardest part was not to get frustrated and kill everybody

The universal ammo, however, was the dumbest thing idea ever to come out of Ion Storm that outside of the Daikatana team. What are you supposed to do when you run out of ammo? Crowbar enemies to death? Did they really think that console gamers don't know how ammo works?

Anyone know how DX1 and 2 compared to each other sales-wise?

Regarding DX1 I remember reading 100,000 copies sold for the PC in 2001 in the USA, at least Warren Spector said so. Not sure about total worldwide sales, especially after it came to Steam. I don't know anything about DX2 sales-wise.

Site and Teaser trailer are up..

GAH! please please please not suck.

Isn't that essentially the old trailer with a new narration?

Universal ammo = Stupidest Idea EVER!

Outside of that, I'm paying attention to DX3, but... well, my hopes aren't high. Simplifying Deus Ex isn't a good idea. It only kind of worked with Bioshock. (I missed the complexity from System Shock 2. Badly.)

I really enjyed DX2. The small map size was a pain but I thought it was on par with the first one. I finished it on Steam around 6 months ago and with the texture packs they have out there it really held up.

Man, when the DE music kicked in in that trailer, I got a huge grin on my face. Crappy midi or no, that was an awesome soundtrack. Amazingly atmospheric. I think the best part about IW was the intro title-screen music.

Wasn't there supposed to be a big magazine article about DX3 coming out soon?

The next issue of PC Zone apparently has the first public reveal of it

Here's Kieron Gillen's UNATCO style attempt to infiltrate PC Zone HQ to find out more ...
