Political Compass: On What Point of the Graph Do You Suck the Most?

Not a huge shock, really. I would've thought I'd be more left-leaning than I am, but otherwise it seems about right.

I'm pretty sure it's inaccurate. Too many questions that _require_ a more subtle answer than they had. (And far to many, I wanted an "Are you f*cking nuts?!" option.)

I was at -3,-3. Right about where Gandhi was. Guess that means I'm RIGHT!

I agree that it's a poor quiz. Too many uses of "some," too many questions of degree with no opportunity to say, "all" or "none."

I moved more to the lib side since last time.

I like to think no one's changing, only that contemporary politics has re-zeroed the entire system.

And not a single question about guns! Harrumph.

Good point. I hear some people bitterly cling to them.

These questions were way to loaded for this to be accurate.

Wow. They'd have to be.

I haven't looked at the questions yet, but it looks like you're the only fascist in a sea of free love hippies on this site.

Where are the liberal authoritarians?

Filthy hippie skimmer!

I actually prefer the quiz at Glassbooth, but now that it's down to only three candidates, it's probably not as useful.

I liked it better when I was purple. Still pretty centrist though.

It's interesting that all of the presidential candidates from the primaries were in the first quadrant though.

I'm always suspicious of these "assessments". They almost always seem to have some sort of macro political agenda.

This one does. The questions lead-left in their wording. I selected that I'm against abortion and the death penalty, which should even me out, but it puts me firmly to the right.

"Holy cow, I'm liberal! I didn't even know. I guess I'll vote Obama?"

I took the quiz. It said that I was very similar to Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader.

Same here. 76% McKinney, 70% Nader, 68% Obama. Last week, they only had Obama, McCain, and Nader, and a few months ago, they had damn near everyone, and I was closest to Gravel, Kucinich, then RONPAUL.

Sorry i don't have a pic of the actual scale but you can just imagine my dot firmly placed deep in the purple square. I noticed that the scale designers obviously had leftist economic leanings (their English) by the wording of the questions and i was often forced to answer in a way that would make me appear too authoritarian, leftist, etc. They were oversimplified. I counteracted this by retaking it and answering those particular questions only in the way that i knew would put me where i should be (a die-hard laissez faire libertarian).

our probably-soon-repealed second amendment.

Really? Do you not pay attention to the news at all?

I know that irked me too. The Brits who produced this test probably back their idiotic gun ban so wholeheartedly they don't even think about it being up for debate. Too bad they don't have an equivalent to our probably-soon-repealed second amendment.

I agree, Britain is basically a third world country now with all the rampant violence, looting and deprivation of human rights. If only all those silly English people were openly packing heat. They must just be despondent without their shootin irons.

Actually no. Not lately due to work and...uh..well ok because I play Hearts of Iron 3 all day. There I said it. So what happened? Inform me since currently my wife won't let me switch off her nick at nite crap to watch anything even mildly educational.

Wow! I feel stupid now. I just read the news article about the Supreme Court ruling you were probably referring to. As such ive removed the "probably-soon-repealed" part. Score one for civil rights! Ive become so accustomed to hearing bad news on the gun control front I had not expected to see that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. That made my day.

Dead center left/right, which matches well with what I think of my own stances. I don't like centralized management of economies, but big corporations scare the hell out of me. I'm not at all in favor of long-term welfare, but I think short-term benefits should be excellent.

I'm about as libertarian as it gets when it comes to arrangements between consenting adults in private, but I'm very much not laissez-faire. Regulation is important.

Interesting how not a soul here has come out on the 'authoritarian' side, even a little.

No problem, we'll start a community. Another two and we can play cards!

Spoiler:

Play cards = have wild orgies

Agree with others' feelings on the questions. Also, the questions were limited in scope. I have a feeling my score would have been influenced had there been questions regarding gun control (which I am strongly against) although regardless of how many other topics were on the survey, I still would land in the lower left quadrant.

It's also amusing to know that the way I answered the questions which could be defined as having to do with morality landed me on the left yet if I answered them in a less empathetic, tolerant, and compassionate fashion, that would have pushed me much more towards the right, the side that labels itself the "moral majority".
