First Blitzkrieg or Panzer Campaigns Normandy from HPS. Strategic Command 2 from Battlefront. Battles In Normandy from Matrix/SSI (probably the best choice for operational). Battles in Italy, also SSI. Highway to the Reich. Conquest of the Aegean.
Thanks Bud! I'm a bit tired of Tiller stuff. But I'll look at the others. I may just dig out CMBO and get tactical:>) I've got the first edition of Strategic Command, but always had problems with it. Maybe if I patch it up.

Dont forget Battlefront! Donan, I have Battles in Normandy and Battles in Italy, I'd love to PBEM with you. I am willing to purchase other games for some good PBEM. Anything smaller scale than strategic. I think Startegic just does not work for WWII due to the US's huge industrial strength and the strength of the allies as opposed to the axis nations. Same offer to you, Kier.
Thanks Swampy. I'll look at those. I think I even may have one. I'll have to rummage around (I think it's the Normandy one, but I may just be remembering wrong altogether).

So...any hints on the secret projects?
Not yet. But when I start dropping hints, I'll remember to come here...
Gamersgate is offering a special deal on Civ 4 Colonization - pre-order, and get a free copy of EU3.
EU3: In Nomine has been patched. Use the "Check for Updates" button at the start screen. New patch tweaks the policies sliders, adds events and missions, and lets you commission privateers for profitable sea raiding.

Is that "ultimate" version of EU3 with both expansions out yet?
Civ4 Colonization is now available on Steam. Probably will hit stores Wed. or so.

In October, says Paradox.
I've had one hang after an hour or so with Civ Colonization. On reboot, Steam hung. I had to load up the process manager, kill it before it hung, then re-download Steam. Ugh. Methinks they missed a memory leak.
It does look good, Swampy. Is that next year's release?
That game certainly *looks* very appealing. For some reason, the graphics make me think it will be accessible, even when I know damn well it won't be. =)
Nebulous? That's an understatement. They give release dates *after* release, pretty much.
Not sure, but the Marines add-on went live. Does that incorporate it? I think I heard that.
Does anyone know how Strategic Command compares to Tiller's East Front? I grew up playing East Front with my dad and was looking for something along those lines to get back into. Im kind of simplistic - I dont really want to worry about research and all that, just lie up and fight. So is there something good out there I dont know about or should I just pony up and give Matrix my money?
There is a demo for Strategic Command 2, so you can try it and see what you think. I agree with Swampy, SSG does great operational level games.
Picked up the Marines module today for CMSF. So far, I am very excited, especially with the changes in the 1.10 update. Performance has improved (at least on my system.) No more chugging with jerky animations in big city battles. Many of the issues I had previously with the game have been addressed, particularly the path finding problems on infantry. All in all, this is pretty close to what I wished CMSF had been when it was originally released. I'm glad BF stuck with it and seems to have the game on the right track. Especially since I want to see a WW2 game with this engine.
Here is the complete list of updates in the 1.10 patch.

This is what I'm waiting for. I liked the original Combat Mission(s) a lot, but I'm just not interested in a modern warfare wargame. This engine on a WW2 game would be right up my alley.
Jake beat me to it. Just started the Marines campaign and it's lots of fun so far.
Ouch. I understand. I have arthritis. Nothing sucks like carpal tunnel and an arthritic left button finger.
I have not run into any yet, so I don't know. The airstrikes are cool, though the planes are not visible, the weapon trails are, and the sounds are good.
Good luck with the back thing. I have some back trouble, too, but it's been under control for years. Stretching and exercise help immensely. Didn't you recently start with martial arts? That *really* helped my back, when I was still having trouble with it. Seems that the "don't move, take it easy" approach is not always indicated.
