And Demi, that is literally 100% correct.

Man, a few malapropisms while exhausted and inebriated doing a LIVE show and people get their figurative knickers in a twist.

They got punchy when they had to see me flash my lovegut.

A malapropism is when you replace one word with a structurally similar word, like if you said, "it's liberally like going into space."

You were just wrong. WRONG, sir! My knickers shall remain twisted!

Give it up, Lobster. The word's been used that way for over a hundred years. Hell, Rabbit may have even started it. Respect your elders.

This may be asking for a lot but could someone who was at Rabbitcon post a list of the board games that were played there? I'm thinking about having a similar gaming weekend and I could use some ideas for some games to play. Thanks!

Here's the ones that I can think of off the top of my head. Guys, feel free to add to it:

Agricola
Zooleretto
BSG: The Board Game
Shadows Over Camelot
Grave Robbers From Outer Space
Castle Panic
Gloom
Diamant
Endeavor
Small World
Summoner Wars
Campaign Manager 2008
Dominion
Hey! That's My Fish!
Galaxy Trucker
Mystery Express
Cash N' Guns
Last Night on Earth
Ticket to Ride
Ingenious
Can't Stop!

Also: Poker, crokinole and, of course, Rock Band.

I am literally looking at my screen right now.

Everybody screws up spoken English now and again. I maintain that it's only when usage problems like that show up in written English that there is just cause for knicker-twistage.

I prefer "literarily."

You just literarily blew my mind!

I literally and totally forgot this was live this past Sunday. *hands head in shame*

Sandrich? Did I hear that correctly?

I'm desperately trying to fit this in my sig.

I agree, spoken language is rough and spontaneous. Most of the meaning comes from non-verbal cues that transmit the message anyway.

Writing needs a lot more clarity and forethought to keep meaning accurate.

The 'literally' thing does annoy me though.

Literally?

About the Old West RPG, is that a free one, a self published or a published one?

Sounds interesting, any change to get a read on the rules or/and the module?

It was actually a quick invention by the GM, based off (I think) his hazy memories of once playing/hearing about Deadlands. I don't know if Rob intends to do anything official with it, but I'd buy it if/when it got released.

Deadlands is fun with tweaked rules. A buddy of mine who has played RPGs since the original red box DnD introduced me to Deadlands some time ago and with his tweaked rules he found ways to incorporate using the cards more than the game called for.

Personally, I find something satisfying with using the cards as opposed to dice. Perhaps it's because dice are used so frequently, but it's probably more akin to the fact that the cards give you a more authentic Western vibe.

Btw, there's nothing inherently wrong with Deadlands, but as with any pnp rpg innovation is a beautiful thing.

My work here is done.

I think someone on the show literally needs to usher in a new era of using "figuratively" instead. Maybe we'll even see the same knickers in a twist, when it's used inappropriately.

I am figuratively typing on a keyboard with rage at the thought.

I'm metaphorically beside myself with frustration at your figurative rage.

I am literally laughing until I figuratively pee in my pants.

I just got to listen to this podcast, and I just wanted to say that I think Sony has a much better chance with the Move for the same reasons Michael Pachter listed on GameTrailers' Bonus Round: Nintendo isn't making a "Wii HD." Therefore, Sony can market the PS3 with Move as a Wii with better graphics and a Blu-Ray player.

Since the current generation of consoles is going to last another few years, people that already bought the Wii are going to be okay with buying another console soon, if not now. They only spent $200-300 the first time, anyway...

Plus, I do think you guys are right that Sony is investing in the next generation of consoles already. That's what happened with Microsoft. The XBOX was successful, but it was still the underdog until the 360 came out. Then, their investment in the original console really paid off (ignoring the HD-DVD thing).

Finally, Sony has already shown they are fine with supporting two generations of consoles (PS2 & PS3). I think they will be happy putting out a PS4 while also still pushing "casual gamers" to PS3+Move.

I think the Natal will be relatively successful as well, as I do believe they will have some good applications. I think they need to release a version for PC, though, to really get the full use of the product - so that it can be used with PowerPoint and what-not.

In the end, though, I think Sony has the upper-hand, even if they aren't really reinventing anything.

You guys aren't at Rabbitcon, that's just some clever echo effect isn't it? Admit it!

Asking the Physicist if she has trouble with math... that's funny.

Rampart... X-men... TMNT... The Simpsons... D&D... really do we need any better reasons to have a MAME machine?

What I love about this show is the level of intellectualism and passion. To hear you guys talk about games with that gleam in your eyes, it reminds me why I love this hobby. To explain it to non-gamers is damn near impossible. It's like explaining color to a blind person.

George just proves what we gamers always hope to be true: being good at games is sexy to the right kind of woman.

Ahem... Native Americans, please. Indians are from the south side of Asia. You know, the gangster side.

The "Friend You Up" song was very entertaining.

I don't dig motion controllers. If I want to be in motion, I won't play video games. I will go outside. The only exception is Rock Band.

Stop making me want to buy a Wii. My PS3 and PC are enough. They are. Stop it.

Last I heard, most people of that ethnicity prefer "American Indian" these days.

Wii is cheap these days. And SMG2 is rapidly building a reputation as the second coming of SMW. Also, Metroid Other M (a new non-FPS Metroid) and possibly Zelda coming up later this year.

I'm not telling this to anyone is particular. Just throwing it out there.

Have I mentioned that Precision Putting is awesome in Tiger Woods Wii and that minigolf courses and Disk Golf are included in the recently released 2011 edition of the game?

LarryC wrote:

No, no, no. SMG2 is slightly BETTER than SMG, not slightly worse.

I think that's what he meant. That's it's just as good if not better.

Except that SMW was not as good as SMB3. Almost, not quite.

Deadlands: Reloaded, the Savage Worlds revision of Deadlands, is a beautiful book. And the setting and rules are awesome too.

Just a culinary note guys: if you're having ribs, pulled pork, and beef brisket, you're having barbecue. When people from both Texas and the Carolinas would call it barbecue*, it's barbecue.

Damn, now I'm all hungry and the only decent barbecue joint nearby closes before I could get there.

*They'd disagree over which part of the meal was real barbecue and which part is "that other stuff," but they'd both agree that it's a barbecue meal.

I used to be big into Deadlands back in the day. Unfortunately I sold off all of my books. I've gotten the RPG itch again, so I picked up the Savage Worlds core book today and intend on grabbing DL: Reloaded in the future. Now the only thing I need is someone to play it with.
