College Football 2008 Season Catch-All

Dang it's good to be in the SEC ... the best, most competitive conference in the land!

Even Ole Miss won! Of course, the did so with formations they call "Wild Rebel" and "Rowdy Rebel," which basically means they're going to get slaughtered against teams like LSU, Alabaman and Florida. Apparently it is a formation similar to that used by Arkansas last year to beat LSU. Shouldn't take long for SEC defensive coordinators to figure that one out.

USF did not play a football game this week. USF swatted an insect.

Yeah they played well against a team they SHOULD beat. Let's hope they can keep it up against division opponents.

Also I'm spared watching FSU this weekend and any QB controversy that will most likely happen this year.

What a great day of college football on TV yesterday. We got to watch both LSU and LA Tech play on TV. I'm proud of my Bulldogs for their upset of MS State.

So far Michigan's new offense gets a big thumbs down.

Well, I didn't get to watch it, but the cream puff (Arkansas St.) kicked our (Texas A&M) ass. Sure, it was only by four points, but the Aggies at home should have rolled over Arkansas St. Dammit.

Just wait till you roll up to Norman. It will stop being funny to me after 2 touchdowns and then I will feel ennui for the A&M running game of old.

I don't even want to think about it. Hopefully it won't be another 77-0 game.

I don't know. When was the last time Ole Miss shellacked Memphis like that? If nothing else, they'll be a lot more competitive this year. SEC West is a four way race this year, and Auburn's going to have to improve their passing game by leaps and bounds if they want to stay in it.

Major props to Bama. They came to play.

The real test will come in two weeks, as it will be a major test for Kansas as well. After KU's creampuff schedule last year, they are going to earn their ranking this year. A road win over USF will be a nice feather in their cap heading into conference play, where they will still be facing four more ranked teams.

I think the USF game is going to be a great game to watch. I'm not sure either team can really be considered the favorite at this point.

Hopefully your O-line will be able to prevent English from getting penetration every down he's in.

Fresno State tramples Rutgers, sets up a big game next week with #13 Wisconsin.

The win over Rutgers (and Pitt's loss, HA!) should get Fresno just inside the top-25 on the AP poll, where they already are on the coach's poll. Nice opportunity for a big jump up next week if they can make it happen.

That football monopoly in Los Angeles is looking alive and well at the moment.

Edit: Nice going, Tennessee. Way to let a quarterback throwing up lame ducks to get back in the ballgame and ultimately beat you on field goals in OT. You people better be out of the top 25 after this one.

USC now number 1, Georgia 2, Ohio State 3. Virginia Tech and Tennessee (thank you) out in both polls, Pittsburgh and Clemson gone from the AP, and Michigan out over at the USA Today poll.

*AHEM*

You left out something!

Fresno State #21 on both polls!

GO DAWGS! Red Wave!

Mizzou is far to high.
Oklahoma is poised in good position, hoping we can keep it together this year.

4 SEC schools in the Top 10. Half the conference in the Top 25. 8/12 receiving votes.

That's all I've got to say about that.

It's only week 2 bub! Only slightly different then preseason rankings.

Although, Good to see USF move up even though they beat a sorry team.

Ahem, there is only one team that can call itself Dawgs, and they ain't in Kali-forN-Ia.

Good win against Rutgers though.

Really, it's just one game. It doesn't mean anything, right? Right?

Not if we get drunk first. I mean, that was kind of the plan of action anyways...

Talking is against the rules of drinking. Take a shot.

No matter how you look at it, the SEC is the best, most competitive Conference in the land. Period.

ROLL TIDE!!

That's the great thing about cheering for Fresno State. I can go anywhere and yell "FRESNO STATE RULES!" and nobody cares.

Same with the Jaguars, really. Even when they're good, there's just something non-threatening about the lowly small market team.

It just hurts because you know it's true.

2 pages and not a mention of the mighty Gators? For shame!

LOL ... All I hear around these parts is people yelling at each other "Texas Rules" "NO, Aggies (Texas A&M) Rules." It goes on and on. I let them squabble like old wet hens then gently remind them that UT has 4 titles, A&M has 1 while Alabama has ... 12. Case closed.

Believe it or not, they actually quiet down after that talking-to! LOL
