College Football 2008 Season Catch-All

Pages

Kick-off is tomorrow night with Wake Forest (23) taking on Baylor. The big weekend match-up Alabama (24) vs. Clemson (9), but for the the most part, it's an easy weekend for the ranked teams unless some gets Appalachian State'd. Who you got?

Go ACC!

First on my list is Gustav vs. my travel plans for the weekend and next week. Taking a wait and see approach to that one.

Next is the Auburn Tigers and their new Wishbone, er Spread Offense vs. the Louisiana-Monroe "Tide Rolled" Warhawks. I think Auburn wins that one, but it doesn't go as smoothly as the Tiger Faithful think it will.

Alabama vs. Clemson? I really hope Tommy Bowden doesn't find a way to screw that up.

Go Beavs! They have a nice warm up match with Stanford before they have to take on Penn State.

The Beavers have a solid receiving corp, 2 decent QBs(really hoping 1 of them becomes good/great) and as always a good defense. The big question which really decides the fate of the team is whether we'll have a run game.

I'm hitting at least one Gator game this year. I was thinking this weekend vs. Hawaii, but I'm going on vacation a few days after and don't want to spend the extra money on tickets, gas, and every Gainesville eatery I miss. Probably going to do the Citadel game since tickets will be easy to get and the weather will probably be beautiful up in Gainesville at that time.

Fresno State is ranked #25 in the Coaches poll, just outside of it in the AP poll.

They're at Rutgers this week and host #13 Wisconsin next week.

Well, Notre Dame will not lose this week! (Of course, they will not play, either.) Went to a practice. More physical. Some good new fresh faces, but that means they're likely clueless. Michael Floyd at WR is going to be great once he gets the ball in his hands. Seems like he can run routes, but have to test that on gameday. Once he has it in his mitts, though, he can make people look silly. Well, at least ND defenders, so we'll have to see if that holds up against real competition.

Now, about the O-line...

Well, I'll be at the OU v Chattanooga game on friday. I have season tickets and am hoping I'll be able to get one to OU Texas.

It's been a long time since I looked forward to a Jayhawk football season to anything more than beating Missouri. It will be interesting this season, as their schedule is loads tougher, including a road non-conference game against a ranked team. Even their conference schedule is going to much tougher. If they can come out of this season with as good record, there won't be any doubters.

I think they are loaded and ready on defense, but the key will the the OL, in which they lost two starters, including their best lineman. They may actually be better at HB, and Reesing should only get better. They open this week against a cupcake, but will face #21 USF in Tampa week three.

Who out of the south do they play this year?

Starting the year off with a probable pummeling by Northwestern (on the road, no less) followed by one of the toughest schedules in the NCAA. Another glorious year to be a Orange fan. Here's hoping we break Pat White's tibia.*

*Joking. Partially.

Texas A&M begins the Mike Sherman era and their mostly creampuff non-conference schedule at home against Arkansas State this week and at New Mexico next week.

The fact that it's the post-Dennis Franchione era makes you winners already.

I couldn't agree more.

They play at Oklahoma and have Texas and Texas Tech at home.

OSU, Baylor and A&M were much easier. They have five games this years against teams ranked right now. It will be a good test.

Well, I will be going to the game here, and you're more than welcome to head down. I can at least promise you a cheap ticket (50ish),

That might be cool. Will check my calendar.

Muchas Gracias!

Okey dokey.
I'll see if one of my friends is out of town so you can upgrade their student.

God I just hope the LSU defense doesn't hurt our offense too much. App State could certainly win 4 National Championships in a row with Armanti at QB and his surrounding cast. We're very deep at RB as well, and most of the offensive line is returning. I want us to score a couple of TDs to let the SEC know ASU is no joke, then pull everyone. Not popular, but I was hoping for the same at Michigan, they didn't do it, and Armanti re-aggravated an injury.

I'd also like to say "Go McNeese State - beat those Tar Heels!!!"

I'm SO psyched for college football season!!!

Oregon continues it's tradition of mangling QB's knees. Nate Costa, the front runner for the starting QB job, will undergo surgery wednesday on his already surgery-ed knee.

I feel a lot better about our QB depth this year with Sun Bowl MVP Justin Roper reportedly coming on strong in practice before Costa was hurt. We've got a decent JC transfer QB in reserve, and some nice looking recruits waiting in the wings. The defense looks to be our best in years, and there is some pretty nice returning talent at the skill positions and the o-line.

Go Ducks!

Happy Football Season, everybody!

Ugh. The Chickens are ugly again this year 3-0 over NC State at half. Hey Lou, still think they can win the SEC east?

In other news, Go Dawgs!

It's a sad time for PSU football right now, with many of the above troublemakers kicked off the team for this year. It's going to be an interesting year...

On the bright side, very much looking forward to a breakfast tailgate before kicking Coast Carolina's (who?) ass, and then a kebab tailgate after. Ahhhh, so good to see football again.

As reported by bennard, Appalachian State vs. LSU's kickoff time moved up six hours over Hurricane Gustav concerns.

Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, and (ha ha) Michigan all take losses in Week One.

USF did not play a football game this week. USF swatted an insect.

Poor Clemson.

Good. That puts an end to that ridiculous #25 AP rank.

A great RB does not a top team make. Certainly not a team manned by Dave the Mustached.

I know preseason rankings are about looking forward, but seeing as they become the foundation of what each successive ranking gets based off of, shouldn't winning at least a few games be a prerequisite to making the list? You know, something besides three consecutive non-winning seasons?

Poor, poor Clemson.

Roll Tide!!!!!

Dang it's good to be in the SEC ... the best, most competitive conference in the land!
