Batman: Arkham Asylum Catch-All

From Shacknews

Co-written by Paul Dini. Never heard of the dev before, but likening it to Bioshock is one big gauntlet to throw down.

Written by Paul Dini?! Day one purchase for me, no question.

Haven't been a fan of a Batman game yet.

Dini wrote all the best episodes of TAS, so bonus points for this. Not day one like Veloxi, but certainly higher on the radar.

I thought Grant Morrison's take was incredible, Paul Dini has some shoes to fill.

We're due for a good Batman game. It really shouldn't be hard, Batman is one of the most game-friendly heroes out there, but it's pretty much been one bad game after another. Hopefully this will be the one to get it right. It sure sounds like an interesting direction.

To my recollection, there's never been a good DC game. DC games are to Marvel what most Star Trek games are to Star Wars games.

Yeah, that's true. I can understand there not being a good Superman game; Superman would be a really hard character to make a game about. Hell, even Blizzard tried and it was awful (not quite Superman 64 awful, but still pretty awful). And really, who wants to play a game as Aquaman or Hawkman? Batman is pretty much DC's one shot at a good game, and he's been squandered so far.

Actually, now that I think of it, a game about the Flash could be pretty cool. Or Wonder Woman's Invisible Flight Simulator!

Wonder woman could be a good game. Suiperstrong, super tough, but not invincible. Like a basically a crackdown with flying and a lasso, fighting, I dunno, Giganta for a shadow of colossus like section. She seems the perfect candidate, but I doubt that will happen until a movie comes out.

Also, boobs. Hopefully they'd redo her lame-ass costume.

But back on topic, still not a fan of Batman, I still think he's just a billionaire who inherited his fortune and uses it to beat up on poor people without repercussion. To me, a game on par with BioShock but with a Batman license is kind of a waste.

If they remove the cleavage and hot pants, I have no reason to play.

I wasn't suggesting an austere business suit or anything, just maybe a design that isn't older than my parents.

Plus we all know how gamers like to look at female characters, so this wouldn't exactly be a stretch.

If this turns out to be another Batman game where I have to hit one button a million times in a row to beat up a thousand identical henchmen then I'm officially giving up on any future DC related games. Wonder Woman invisible flight simulator or not.

I'm admittedly fuzzy on the DC side of things, but can't Wonder Woman fly? Like without a plane? Which would make owning a plane about as awesome for her as a wheelchair would be to Carl Lewis?

Wonder Woman has an invisible plane, which is apparently a useful, logical thing to have. She's supposed to be an Amazonian princess or something, right? Yeah, they're known for their aerospace technology.

You can carry more things with a plane than with your hands! Also, I judge plane to be faster than her. So invisible plane to wonder woman is like an invisible bicycle with a basket to us.

I'd prefer a non-invisible bicycle, personally.

I don't know, I think it's kind of cute.

Wonder woman could be a good game. Superstrong, super tough, but not invincible. Like a basically a crackdown with flying and a lasso. You could fight Giganta for a shadow of colossus like section. She seems the perfect candidate, but I doubt that will happen until a movie comes out.

Post-Crisis around 1985, Wonder Woman got a reboot by George Perez and could fly. Sort of negated the need for the Invisible Jet.

I could do a creepy Arkham Asylum/Batman/Bioshock game. That's one of the best ideas for a Batman game I've heard of in a long time.

It has a great amount of promise, and if they pull it off.. man I dunno.

I believe it is being implied that, as Giganta is huge, and wears a skirt, it is inevitable that someone would just try to park them selves between her legs looking up, right before she pounded you into the ground. And also she was born a gorilla. So its really bestiality. So keep that in mind gamers!

I am really anticipating this.

So sounds like it should be closer to Condemned then.

Beating people up with billions of dollars sounds inefficient. That must be a big sock full of quarters.

You could put the dollars in a big metal safe first, then beat up on people with a comedy cliche.

Screen shots available at CVG. Wow. This may be the first realistic-looking version of the comic book Batman costume that doesn't look silly. And the Joker looks like he's a hybrid of Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson's versions of the character.

ooooOOooooo....

Well...it looks good.

My bet? A bronzed turd. It'll be really pretty crap.

Game Informer had a couple page preview of this. Looks interesting. Comparisons to Bioshock are a bit premature, however.
