Beijing 2008 Olympics

USAHD and CNBCHD or both showing Olympic footage on DirecTV in addition to NBC and UniversalHD. It's pretty much insanely good coverage.

I'm watching via CBUT and KING-5. And USA when I happen to be in that area of channels.

If you have Time Warner, http://www.timewarnercable.com/centr...

Um, will this cut into the September 4th opening of the NFL season? Oh hell no.

I love DJ Gallo

See as how the Olympics are over on August 24th, I would think not...

RichyRambo: I totally agree with you about the boxing scoring, some of the bouts I watched it was just ridiculous, they really need to change the system again. I don't think it has actually changed the outcome of any of the bouts I've seen, but we'll never know, maybe the boxers would have reacted differently if the score had been different.

The US Men's Soccer team tied Netherlands this morning. That makes for a really close group. Nigeria and the US are tied at 4 points and Netherlands has 3 points. The US and Nigeria play on Wednesday, and that match will likely determine who advances from that group. On other soccer notes, Brazil beat New Zealand 5-0 this morning.

Thanx. I am ignorant of the Olympic schedule, for better and worse I'm sure!

Turns out we're getting a bit on USA HD as well. So, 3 HD channels on Comcast in Houston.

Moar swimming tonight!

There's something wrong in the world when you can watch a Star Trek convention live over the 'net but not the Olympics.

In terms of some of the fireworks during the opening ceremonies...

HOLY $HIT MEN'S 400m RELAY ZOMG!

I actually screamed out loud.

That was the best comeback since the Red Sox, and since I'm not from Boston, this one was more exciting for me.

That really shut the smack-talking Frenchies up. One of them is still in the pool crying as I write this.

Seriously, that is what you hope to see when you watch the Olympics. That was an unbelievable comeback.

His tears of defeat have brought a ray of sunshine into my otherwise humdrum existence. Cry, frenchman, cry! Even Jerry Lewis cannot make you laugh now.

And, yeah, the best part of the Olympics are those come-from-behind upsets.

Schadenfreude. It's what's for dinner.

Someone might want to put up a spoiler tag for those of us on the West Coast that don't want to be...spoiled.

Ah, apologies for that. I forgot you guys weren't getting this stuff live like the rest of the country. That's messed up.

Y'all don't get it live? How bizarre...we're staying up slightly late to watch it, and it's live at a comfortable hour for y'all. Sorry.

In other thoughts, that was a fabulous illustration of why you should never, never give up.

Man that race was so awesome. I'm glad I stayed up late to watch Phelps swim again, it was so worth it!

The footage of Phelps hulking out like that really scared my wife. She shrieked every time they showed it.

I maintain an extremely slight musculature as a courtesy to her delictate sensibilities.

I personally didn't care about being spoiled; it's just that others might.

Yea that was an amazing finish. Never thought a pro could catch another pro with such a lead but apparently some of the commentators mentioned it was the French swimmers mistake of swimming so close to the American and allowing him to draft off him in his wake? I had no clue you could draft off someones wake in swimming.

You're doing a great job!

I'll admit to not being a huge swimming fan, but that was freaking amazing! Now will someone please buy mark Spitz an airplane ticket so he'll shut up??

Men's gymnastics was scary to watch.

The final event we almost lost the Bronze - which we weren't even supposed to get - but the last guy who apparently goes nuts and hangs on the edge of control pulled us out of the can after two crappy runs.

We should have won silver, but we had some major mental mistakes, and a Bronze in and of itself was a victory when your top two scorers - the Hamms - were out of the entire competition. So we'll take our win and bolt.

Phelps will make up for whatever golds we missed out on.

Phelps is absolutely amazing. He smokes fools so thoroughly that the dude must be Atlantian royalty.

That French smackdown is damned legendary, as well. Phelps was nice enough to congratulate them on a good race, but oh man are they eating cheese-flavored crow.

Was anything real at the opening ceremony?

Ridiculous.
