Anyone use Twitter?

anybody know a program that is easy to use for the BB curve?

justinmwhitaker on Twitter.

kevin_phair, so don't be too concerned about somebody of that name suddenly following you out of the blue ;p

Anybody else notice an odd amount of advertisers and spambots following you?

I don't really want to like it, but I find Twitter is a very quick and easy distraction when I need a quick breather.

It's a brilliant tactic. Especially with all of those people stuck in the MySpace Mentality (tm), there's so many people who will simply add back anyone that adds them as any kind of social networking "friend".

Register an account to advertise through, add a ton of people to your followers, and a good percentage of those (enough to be worth your time) will add you back. Then, post an advertising message here and there - just few enough so that most people won't bother to dig through their list of a bajillion friends in order to delete you.

Umm... not that I know anything about this sort of stuff...

I loaded TwitterBerry on my 8830. It has its flaws, but it is fairly straightforward.

I caved in. I was tired of hear Kevin and Alex talk about it on Digg. Me.

I caved a few weeks ago: http://twitter.com/doogiemac

Yeah, I'm there... http://twitter.com/RBD_OC

I twitter sporadically =)

I just signed up because I will be able to update it from my new iPhone tomorrow.

Because I was bored I went through this thread, collected everyone's twitter ids, checked to see if they were still active (as in, had tweeted in the past 30 days) and consolidated them into a single list. Since some of the rest of you may find it useful, here it is.

If anyone wants their name added to (or removed from) this list, let me know.

Bennard has one but hasn't updated in a year.
Grumpicus has one too.
Permanent special guest host Zenke has one.
Yoyoson hasn't updated in three months.
dhaelis
Spunior hasn't updated in two months.
Max_Shrek hasn't updated in a month either.

Hopefully this will shame them to update.

I never signed up because I knew I'd never update. I can't even remember to post stuff regularly to my web page.

This is what I get for rarely updating mine. Asi es la vida.

If anything, I think I update mine too much... that reminds me

Did I put mine in here? I think I did.

Just signed up for my Twitter account. "Datyedyeguy"

I caved due to peer pressure, I swear. Plus I'm addicted to adding new apps to my mobile gadgets, woo!

I'm a dirty skimmer.

I just don't get Twitter... as if people blogging about what they had for lunch was bad enough... now I need to read about how you're standing in line at the post office or WAITING to eat lunch.

So what did you have for lunch

I'm not too lazy to update, but I am too lazy to add all the people in this thread. I'll add basically anyone who follows me, though.

People who do that are doing it wrong. It's like a combination public IM, message board, tiny blog all in one. Use it to share your thoughts, amusing anecdotes, cool internet stuff, et cetera. Not to tell us when poop is coming out.

Follow me on twitter to find out

I like the challenge of squeezing ideas into short bursts. It's also nice to see little life updates from people I don't have as much day to day time to talk to anymore. It saves you some time when exchanging pleasantries and catching up when you do finally get a chance to talk.

I may have already posted this but since you skimmed... Twitter in Plain English.

Nothing says you have to post about lunch - or at all. Just add a couple people and see what they're writing about and you might just find you like it. Of course, that will depend on the quality of people you add so here's a supplement to the GWJ list.

OK, I signed up. Gave me an excuse to try the Twitterberry software on my Blackberry Curve.

I listened to TWIT for the first time in months today, and heard them arguing about this list. I dunno... following "famous" people seems to go against the whole "community of friends" vibe Twitter seems to be about (At least according to that video linked to above).

I don't know if I'm ready for a Kevin Rose "Sleeping with 3 beautiful ladies atop a huge pile of money" update. Might make me cry.
