Official GWJFFL 2008 Interest and Setup Thread

Pages

This is the official GWJFFL 2008 Signup Thread. For general Fantasy Football chatter, go here.

Unless you're still discussing signing up, head over to the preseason thread.

----------

Both leagues are full. You can still sign up as an alternate in case someone drops out. Even if you don't get in this year, signing up now automatically puts you at the top of the list for next year.

----------

Here's the official list.

Host site: EA Sports Fantasy Football - PM me your email address if I don't already have it.

GWJFFL (Map) will draft at 9:30 Eastern on Tuesday, September 2.
GWJFFL2 (Map) will draft at 9:00 Eastern on Wednesday, August 27.

----------

Last updated on 08/24. - Posted final GWJFFL2 draft time.

Count me in! This year, I'm going to win more then I lose. You heard it here first.

Also, Labor Day weekend is the weekend of PAX so probably wouldn't be the best time.

AOL's previous, Fanball-powered service is gone. All AOL leagues are being migrated to FleaFlicker (which they recently acquired) automatically.

FleaFlicker, unfortunately, does not (currently) support blind bidding, and while they said to me (on their forums) that it is a highly requested feature, they have not committed to a time table for its eventual inclusion.

I, however, am far from the only AOL fantasy league user who is rattling this cage.

Anyway, I of course sign up to continue my main squad, and I'll be available to field a second league team if required.

I've decided to bow out of fantasy football this year, both online and the local one some friends do. Somehow I don't think filling my spot will be too tough

As I posted in the other thread, I am interested in playing this season.

I'm in.

Thanks for taking up the mantle again this year Grump!

Count me in, I'll play with the GWJ crew no matter what site we end up on. I don't mind paying a fee if it gets us on a premium site with the features we want. Heck, I think almost all of us in the "I-A" league pays the fees for "live scoring" or whatever the feature is called anyway.

*bok* *bok* *bok*

I'm in.

In

I'm ready to defend my title. Count me in.

I am, of course, in as well. Nothing like watching your all-star team lose to the Lithuanian fielded team again this year.

Oh I'm in. Looking forward to it.

I'm in, though I'd rather only run one team this time.

I'm in, and thank crippity the AOL service doesn't have its one redeeming feature this year.

Count me in.

I am definitely interested.

From this whole discussion of Blind Bidding, it seems that you fine folks may do a variation of Fantasy Football that I am unfamiliar with. Would you care to explain the types of rules and scoring systems you all use or plan on using for the league?

Edit: I saw the blind bidding issue was discussed later in the other thread.

WYCOFF rules, wasn't it? The Blind bidding is as follows: Everyone gets $100 play money at the beginning of the year. During each week, you have the opportunity to bid on FAs, but you cannot see another player's bid. Whomever bid the highest receives that player and gets charged accordingly.

Our rules are taken almost verbatim from the World Championship of Fantasy Football.

There are only some minor deviations (for example, the WCOFF prohibits all trading to prevent collusion, which is a necessary precaution for big cash prize tourneys), but we're mostly WCOFF-compliant.

I should be in.

I'm in this year, I won't do that well but I would like to try

I believe so. I saw the original post and it was a quote from an email from AOLSports/FleaFlicker.

What kaostheory said, I thought it was news until I saw Legion already mentioned it. I'm still in.

I'm in geesh not sure how I missed this thread for so long. Oh wait actually I do know how that happened.

I'm ready to defend my title. Count me in.

Wait I seem to recall an ultimate championship game that my team won...

Hey, I still have a title, just not THE title.

Meh, it was just an exhibition game - like the Pro Bowl.
