Celebrate Freedom by Clearing Your Pile

Umm... Oblivion?

Finally driving through Dawn of Souls. FINALLY.

Lego Star Wars is complete-ish. Finished all 3 chapters with most of the bonus characters unlocked, but I'm saving up for some of the more expensive game enhancement unlocks. Only completed 3 of the stage ships on the first try, and 10/17 of the true jedi ship, which means no bonus level for me. I had a good time with this game, so I expect to go back off and on to increase my completion % on the various stages and save up for other unlocks.

I will be adding Chrono Trigger to my list for the month as well. I have never owned the game although I did sit through most of my buddy's playthrough back in middle school if that counts. I just spent 4+ hours playing it in one sitting. There aren't nearly enough save points in that game (not because I needed them but because everytime I wanted to stop I hadn't saved in 20+ minutes).

Woot! Super Mario Galaxy defeated (no, not 100% all stars with Mario & Luigi, just the main game beaten, but that counts for me! ;))

huzzah! Completed No More Heroes.

You guys are inspiring.

I recently finished Jade Empire PC. I stopped playing during Chapter 3 sometime last year and if I knew that the rest of the game took less time than Chapter 3 I would have probably finished it then. It's funny looking at the save game dates and realizing how long it's been since the last save. Pretty good game except that once you get Jade Golem, there's no reason to use anything else.

I want to try and finish Titan's Quest. Currently, I'm at the beginning of Act 2 but the monotony kicks in too quickly for me to keep playing.

List should be updated. Yell at me if I missed something.

This thread really works! (you can quote me on that.) I've finished Jade Empire.

Yeah. I thought the same.

It is a fun game but I've decided I don't like NPC companions who stop me during a vital quest in order to hold a lengthy conversation and then finish by saying, "But now is not the time to discuss such things."

If I can go straight onto my next game put me down for Fatal Frame II. I may fail on this one. It depends if my interest in the story can over come my aversion to the clunky controls.

Mass Effect Down - soon after Okami, which just goes to show how much I was slacking off on my Okami duties. Still, mass effect was pretty cool - could have been so much better, though. Like Assassin's Creed, a new IP that gives me hope for the sequel.

Played some more Half-Life last night. It's all right, but nothing earth shattering so far. I'm further than I've gotten in my previous attempts. Boy, do I hate the way the game saves (or lack thereof). I would've played some more last night, but an untimely fall lead to a reload at the last place I saved. I really take auto-saves and checkpoints for granted now.

It doesn't have a quick-save function? I could have sworn there was a quick-save option.

I'm still working on Etrian Odyssey; I usually have 3-4 games running at once, with one or two "light" games and one or two "heavies", usually split amongst consoles. For example, lately I've had Mario Galaxy running on the Wii for pure fun (and to beat it eventually, which I finally did), Etrian Odyssey on the DS as it's turn-based and very pick-up-and-play friendly (I rarely power off the DS, I leave it on in sleep mode when I'm not actively playing) so I play it frequently but in short stints, and Persona 3 FES on the PS2 for my longer deliberate gaming sessions.

EO and P3 are both ongoing long-term projects, I will conquer both, just probably not in the short term. Though in the last month my EO progress has ramped up nicely.

I played through all of Half-Life for the first time at the start of the year, after years of starting it and putting it down. It was a lot of fun, but it definitely has its low points. How far in are you now?

I'm just going over to the Lambda lab in the underground tunnel. I got further than that, but my save was from the beginning of the tunnel.

If I remember correctly, I did the exact same thing at probably the exact same point you did. The worst case scenario with relying on quick saves is that you save in mid-death. I had a nice permafall going at one point in HL.

I played more Chrono Trigger last night. Second night in a row that I started around 10pm and ended up playing until 1:30. Great game, still lots of fun. I'm making really good progress (I think) and should be confronting the evil Magus (my favorite character) in my next session.

I played through Half-Life right before Episode 2 came out and it definitely shows it age. Apparently Freeman's hazard suit cuts off peripheral vision completely because there were a ton of moments where I fell off something, or something fell on me that I never even saw.

As for me I have to finish Okami sometime this millenium but my drive to play much of anything lately is pretty low. Weather's too nice, I guess. It needs to rain for a couple days so I can get some gaming in.

Crap! Thanks to gamestop's 25% off used PS3 games cupons my pile just got two games deeper.

I managed to pick up Folklore, and Burnout Paradise for less than $50 total so I couldn't resist. I have promised myself though, I will not delve into Folklore until I have polished off Odin Sphere.

I shouldn't jinx myself like this, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to finish Jeanne D'Arc finally, and yes, possibly during the month of July. If I do, it'll be my first successful pile-clearing action in the history of this fine project of Hemi's.

Well, with Flagship's meltdown, I cleared Hellgate London off my pile before my character possibly gets deleted. So that's two games down this month!

Just to check: If I beat Oblivion, I can still go back to the sub-plots, right?

As far as I know, yes you can

I'm not going to be able to finish Valkyrie Profile this month. Why? Because I had to get the hell away from that game.

It is beyond frustrating. I am sick and tired of walking into a new dungeon and being obliterated. This is the same reason I stopped playing FFIII. You level up in the current dungeon, destroy everything, kill the boss, go to the next dungeon, die, die again, die some more... Even my highest level party members die in a few hits. It's as if grinding doesn't mean anything in this game. I can't even level up anyone because they're always dead at the end of battles.

I really want to finish this game too. The story has my attention but I can't go on. I'd have to grind my way into hell in order to survive.

So now, I started playing Final Fantasy VI. Never played it before and I've heard so many great things about it that I couldn't resist.

BTW, when I say FF6, I mean FF6. There are 12 Final Fantasy games. FF6 is FF6. "OMG FF3 SNES" doesn't apply anymore.

Mystic, you want me to leave Lenneth up there? Also, FF VI for the GBA?

Zoidberg, You want me to add those two games to this month?

List should be current.

Yeah, you can leave it there. I'm going to read a FAQ in the near future to see whether or not I'm just doing it wrong.

And yes, It's Final Fantasy VI Advance.

Add Burnout Paradise please, as it has captured my attention, and I might be able to complete it in a way that meets my satisfaction.

I'll nominate Folklore at a later date. I have a promise with myself I need to keep first. Looks like we know what I'll have on tap for August.

OMG are you in for a treat. I envy you. I still remember my first time playing through that... wonderful times.

Is there any way to finish the story by other means? Watching videos of the cut scenes or reading a summary? Sometimes it is as satisfying to say, "Ok I'm not enjoying this anymore. I'm done." and cross a game off your list that way. Sounds like you've given the game every chance.

Well, I'm surprising myself by making good progress in Mass Effect. I've gotten all my party members at this point, and am doing some of the side quests. I'm having fun with it, but I have to say that the planets you explore are pretty boring. They all look the same, with some differences in colour and sky texture. Other than that it's still engaging, and I do like the story. I'm trying to romance Ashley atm, but she's not co-operating. Damn these regulations forbidding officers from making out with the crew!
