Celebrate Freedom by Clearing Your Pile

Pages

Another month, another catchy title. I think I sprained something patting my own back.

Anyway, we've still got plenty of games to play. Some would argue that this summer isn't a "slow" time. There's been some quality titles released, but I think there should be enough time to get to a Pile of Shame game or two.

So, let's throw some hot dogs on the grill, blow some sh*t up and play a game!

[size=20]This month's Pick of the Pile is:

[size=30][strong]Diablo 2

"Since the beginning of time, the forces of Order and Chaos have been engaged in an eternal struggle to decide the fate of all Creation. That struggle has now come to the Mortal Realm...and neither Man, Demon, nor Angel will be left unscathed...

After possessing the body of the hero who defeated him, Diablo resumes his nefarious scheme to shackle humanity into unholy slavery by joining forces with the other Prime Evils, Mephisto and Baal. Only you will be able to determine the outcome of this final encounter...

In Diablo II, return to a world of dark fantasy. As one of five distinct character types, explore the world of Diablo II -- journey across distant lands, fight new villains, discover new treasures, and uncover ancient mysteries, all in the quest to stop the Lord of Terror, once and for all..." I'm still debating on what I want to play this month. I should have my choice up sometime today.

Ninja Gaiden II and GRID on XBox 360 for me!

Too new, next!

Games that came out last month, don't really qualify for a "Pile of Shame" title. Now, if it was Ninja Gaiden Black on the Xbox, then I'd add it.

I'm so. Damn. Close. to finishing Okami. That game is my white whale. I would have beaten it before if I didn't pass out every so often when trying to play it late at night.
Anyways, it will be done by July 11th. I guarantee it. After that, Mass Effect & GTA 4!

I want to polish off at least 75% of my DS pile and thus get it to "sane" levels before I go back to being multiplatform again. NInja Gaiden DS and Nanostray finished off during a plane flight. Impossible Mission almost there (need to figure out the puzzle) and Advance Wars Days of Ruin, Hotel Dusk and Phoenix Wright are all in progres atm.

Well, since I didn't finish Bioshock last month, let's carry it over to this month. I also want to add Medal of Honor: Airborne.

Sigh. I'm still slowly playing through The Witcher. I put it down for a while thinking I would wait until the end of the year when the big patch is coming out but eventually decided I needed to finish it before I pick up Mass Effect for the PC.

I've also started playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. again, hoping to finish it before Clear Skies comes out. It's going better now since I've finally gotten a decent weapon and armor. (I'm up to the point where things start getting weird. Well, weirder.)

This month, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Mass Effect on PC.

Shamefully, I carry over Bioshock.

I listed all of them, but which Phoenix Wright?

In an attempt to actually finish anything, only one item from the pile this month: Company of Heroes

I haven't started Sins of a Solar Empire yet, and I also have GRID to even begin to approach still after buying it on the day of release, being all excited and then what do I do? Go out instead... naughty me.

I made things worse by just playing Lego Indiana Jones. I'm so sorry but to me, Lego's so cool!!!

Fair enough!

Although, Ninja Gaiden II is already on my 'pile of shame' because I have not finished it yet! ...being that I am a huge fan of the series. Finished all; NG, NG Black and Sigma. Yet, I started NG 2 and then kinda left it there without going back.

Planescape: Torment, Hotel Dusk, and Sam & Max Season 1 for me.

Planescape is a carryover (again) from June. The others I'm mid way through already (and were, in part, the cause of the carryover).

When confronted with my meager pile, I decided to try Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire. I had played the original JA2 four years ago, but this official "mod" had been sitting on my pile all that time. A little bit of time playing revealed Wildfire is not really worth playing. Instead, I have returned to JA2, except with the 1.13 fan "patch".

So while not really "clearing the pile" per se, it is what I plan to finish this month.

I try to keep a one game per system rule. Currently working on the following:

PS2: Kingdom Hearts II
DS/GBA: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
PSP: Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles
360: Oblivion

Pile of Shame? It should be the Pile of Freedom!

I'm going to stick with Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth for the PSP. I'll probably add another game when I figure out what to play next. Maybe I should dust off the old PS2.

July is Civilization Revolution month for the PS3, I'm all aboard!

I started playing Odin Sphere (PS2) earlier this year, but I stopped and really want to finish it. So I guess it makes up my pile of shame for the month.

I haven't beaten a thing in I don't know how long. I think I need to build a shelf of finished games so I have something to feel better about.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that...

Civ Revolutions is coming out in July, and is not eligible for "Pile of Shame" status.

I'm really tempted to pick up the Diablo Battle Chest this week. How long is the Diablo II single player campaign? I might have to make that my game of the month.

FYI

Pick of the Pile will be decided on Thursday.

I'm working on Call of Duty 4's single player and unlocking everything for multiplayer. Also, going to try and work through the campaigns for the Company of Heroes expansion.

I too, am going to finally finish Diablo II. I got to the jungle/swamp area and then got rather tired of the same enemy/different color "variation" and moved on to something else.

Man, that is one of the most obnoxious tendencies of those types of games. I can understand the palette swap in an 8-bit game in 1985, but come on.

Put me down for Metroid Prime 3 this month -- after spending 40 hours in GTA IV I'm ready to get back in to a game that I can finish in probably another 10, rather than getting back in to Oblivion and getting stuck playing that for 40 hours. I won't cheat and say Super Smash Bros Brawl, even though it's an "old" game, because it only just came out here.

I've finished Assassin's Creed. Woot! Put me down for Jade Empire this month. It's the original xbox version.

Carry over The Witcher from last month for me please
