Diablo III Catch-All

Wonder how Flagship are feeling at the moment (this one-ups Mythos just a tad i would think).

I was just thinking that if Mythos wasn't going to release by the end of this year, it will now. The only way that game can succeed is with enough headway to garner a large enough community that they can survive the inevitable exodus.

Also, while it's funny to say this since we're joking about it being out in 2010, I do like how Blizzard reveals their games like they did this time and with Starcraft II. No grand ideas off into the future, no concept art that may change, no vague generalities. The same day they announce the game's existence, it comes with a full cinematic trailer, screenshots, several gameplay videos, and a hefty amount of commentary and description on what they plan on changing, keeping intact or adding to the gameplay. It lessens over-analyzing a teaser trailer, making insane speculations, and creating unrealistic expectations of how it's going to look and feel because there's almost no real info after the initial announcement for eight months.

Hmm, looks much more cartoony than I remember the previous games...

Edit: I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it sort of looks like more World of Warcraft-ish than Diablo. Still badass, tho.

Wow. I foresee a bad case of carpal tunnel syndrome in my not-to-distant future.

Yup, it's like a grittier, bloodier version of WoW's art style (the shoulder pads in one of the screen shots is a dead giveaway ).

Ghaaa !

Re-installing D2 as we speak. Their master plan is working.

the addiction is coming back and I couldn't be more happy.

Has anyone tried running the first Diablo on a modern system (or Vista even)? I'm thinking about replaying both games since I never did finish the first one and I've got a sudden jones to replay D2.

I've been trying all day to temper my excitement for D3 since I'm sure it won't be out for a year or more, but I can't help myself. I'm as excited for this one as I am for Fallout 3.

The king is dead. Long live the new king!

Anyone else notice that diablo has mouths on his shoulders?

I wonder if the three prime evils have combined?

I guess you are broken because it looked pretty cool.

Maybe it has more to do with the fact that we live in the age of Fallout 3, Spore, and the Nintendo Wii now. I just can't get up in arms over what's essentially a game I played back in high school. Sure, it looks spiffy, but I don't see myself dropping seventy bucks for the inevitable collector's edition on day one, let alone picking up the regular copy at full price.

Doesn't Fallout 3 fall into that "I played it in High School" category?

Just saying. :P

If they released Van Buren instead of what Bethesda's cooking up, sure. I think that if Hellgate London wasn't the disaster it was on release, we wouldn't be talking about Diablo. If it worked, in many ways it would have been the next logical evolution of the Diablo gameplay style.

Also, this would be easy to do as a 2-stick on the 360... I'm just sayin'...

Starcraft Ghost proves why Blizzard can't do console games anymore. They just can't follow that kind of development and console lifespan cycle and release a game that meets their standards.

About Ghost thats incorrect, its not that blizzard can't keep up with it. It's that Ghost was very cool but nothing stoot out (the blizzard way) about that game at that time. Now here's something to put in a pipe and smoke. Activision-Blizzard, Ghost done by infinity ward....nuff said.

The whole free thing works well in their favor too though.

The last time I tried it, it ran fine.

Well I watched the vids and gotta say this looks amazing....the last encounter with the huge boss at the end....wow just wow. I think I am more excited about this than Starcraft 2. I want to play the campaign in SC 2 but just like Left4Dead it's all about the co-op play with friends. Now we'll just have to wait till what about 2010 to get our hands on it? Hopefully even more info comes out at Blizzcon.

Running it now on a Vista 64-bit system.

Hopefully there will be speed modifiers on items / skill tree. R/W looked low there, although witch doctor I think probably has a higher base r/w speed judging from the video. The use of mana, at least by barb, seemed extremely minimal for the stuff he was doing (at his assumed level on my part).

They definitely have adjusted stats for that walkthrough. If you notice, the barbarians mana regen was so fast, that it was usually full before he was able to use his next ability. He also did practically nothing but special skills. Only rarely did he ever do a normal attack. Plus, the only time he seemed to take damage was at the one point they wanted to "show off" the health bubbles.

Okay, so 12 hours later i watched the gameplay video. I have to say i think the game looks great.

They've combined elements from Diablo, Dungeon Seige, Titan Quest and (i think - if i'm remembering the game properly) Gauntlet (Legends on PS1).

I'm not sure about those health pick-ups... but it's nice to see that if one person in the party picks one up that it applies to everyone - keeps the infighting to a minimum.

The only problem i now have with the game is that i want it to be out this year. I'd preferred them to have announced it 6 months before release rather than a 'when it's done announcement' - not that i don't appreciate the reveal... but i'm going to have to go on D3 block from now on. There's no point in over-hyping myself. Like when D2 came out - i only found out about it by accident.

Diablo obviously spent some time on Mt Hyjal getting his Tier 6 shoulders.

The experience of seeing the Arreat summit for the first time when LoD came out was breathtaking. I hope they can do something similar except when you look over the precipice you actually see what's really down below you. Oh man OH MAN.

In Hell nobody can hear you scream, or you'll get shushed.

"Stay a while and...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Is that my torso! It is my torso! My precious torso!"

Everything I see about this just screams awesome. Not that I honestly would have expected some hideous thing. I thought the demo video was one of the finest pieces of game marketing I have ever seen. It builds perfectly, ends perfectly. Has me totally salivating.

Go to those shack links.

They have HD res versions of the movies! You miss a lot in SD. There is a siege walker stalking in the background of the crypt like dungeon the barbarian is fighting in.

So who is the new "Diablo" now? Tyriel himself, perish the thought?

Damn. I so want to go on media-blackout on this one but I don't know if I have the strength. If only they'd announce a release date...

Possibly, he did destroy the worldstone.

I missed the HD versions, do you have to be registered?

A decent Diablo-clone supported by ads and/or microstransactions sounds incredibly less appealing when an actual new Diablo is on the market.

Really? I love that concept. When I'm playing a great loot 'n' grind, constant health potion management has got to be the least enjoyable aspect of it.

Hm, a World of Warcraft expansion, Starcraft II, and Diablo III being made at the same time. Jesus Blizzard, will you ever let your grip on me go? All you need to do is announce Lost Vikings 3 and I'll sign over my first born.

Sure, when you have a comfortable income. Hopefully the availability of Mythos will thin the everfun early teen market infiltrating Battle.net.

Appreciate the effort, tow, but you absolutely cannot load 19+ megs worth of pictures into a thread. Link to them, please.

So this took me, way, way, too long. Blizzard's p2p of 900mb video, then compiling these. ugh.
