pervasity

Is that really a word, or is that like Rachel Ray and "healthful"?
(Yes, I know it's a real word, but the rest of the world has said "healthy" since at least 1975. )

Right with you Rob, Soul Calibur IV sucks!

Still listening to the podcast, just want to provide some moral support there.

*edit* No GenCon for Beardy? Nooooooooo!

First Fallout 3! Now THIS! That's it, I'm moving!

I was unaware that Australia hated the internet. I guess that's the price you pay for living in paradise.

Careful Zoidberg. They don't like it when we dismiss their gaming hell for their natural nirvana. Just trust me on that one.

Jim Rossignol of RPS fame has a book that may help you, Elysium - I believe he talks about Korean gaming in there, along with gaming in London and Reykjavik.

Of course if you prefer you could tear out those pages and burn them.

ps. Sorry bout Gen Con. course now you can go to PAX right? .... right?

No Team Fortress 2 challenge mention?

I'll be lucky to go to the Post Office this year.

No Team Fortress 2 challenge mention?

DAMN! I knew we forgot something.

The price is too high! Crazy game/console pricing, no Fallout 3, no Rock Band, no In-N-Out Burger, and now no a-ha videos? Truly this is the land of the forsaken!

Then again, Starbucks just announced that they're closing all but 23 of their Australian stores, so maybe things aren't so bad after all.

I was under the impression that Starcraft was the national 'sport' (the validity of this term used in this case can be argued elsewhere) of Korea. I think that there are too many other possible things for people to follow including Basketball, Football, Hockey, Baseball, Soccer....Bass Fishing, etc. that the opening for a niche market like competitive gaming is very, very small. Depending on their business model that may turn out to work for them. While I consider myself to be a hardcore gamer, time is in high demand and I have trouble in some cases justifying the time that I play video games and I don't think I could justify watching others play games besides the occasional youtube video that shows me something ridiculous. That being said, Starcraft 2 is being largely influenced by the Korean market.

Also, glad to hear Cory back, I was wondering if he had had an untimely demise, but all is well.

You guys don't have to give any specifics, but in broad terms, do you have any big plans for the 100th episode which is quickly approaching?

From now on, I shall read "demiurge" as "duh-miurge."

I was curious about that, too. You guys are so close to episode 100. Got anything special planned? I think that a montage of "friend you up"s are in order.

We've been thinking about it. Once the big Gencon show is out of the way I'm sure we'll nail something down.

^ ^ You'd probably cancel the day before ;P

Hey, in my defense, I backed out the day of when I realized I'd never live down bailing on my parents when it would have taken them past ten o'clock to put their bedroom back together without my help. Thankfully, they only change carpets only about every thirty years.

It looks like the reason Rabbit wasn't on this week's conference call was because he was slumming with Jeff Green and the GFW crew over at 1up: http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3...

Can't wait to give it a listen.

edit: I'm late as usual so ignore this. I just saw the thread on it over in the gaming forum.

Elysium: You're thinking of a dynamometer or a dyno I think.

Can someone post a picture of the Soul Calibur IV Certis?

Damn that Cory Banks and his truths!

Pics, people, pics!

Son and Dad gaming: Civ IV or Civilization Revolution for the 360.

My brothers (ages 45 and 46), my Dad (age 69) and me (age 36) have been playing Civ III and Civ IV together for years. My Dad is not much for the consoles, but Civilization Revolution is probably the one thing that can really grab him.

My dad's in his 60s, he raised me on Apple/Macintosh computers from the time i was in Kindergarten, and fortunately this meant that I was there when Myst first came out, Marathon, Myth, Lemmings, Spectre, etc.. My dad ended up massively hooked on Bungie products (and Myst,) and years later when i showed him the (original, with dinosaurs roaming around, etc) Halo teaser, he was easily as excited as I was.

Fast-forward to now: He's still on Macintosh and played Halo 1, but not 2 or 3, and he's desperately jealous of my XBox360, and I'm quite jealous of his like 50-60 inch HDTV. My 20G XBox red-rigned, so I bought an elite, and I gave him my other XBox, along with copies of Halo 2 and 3, with the promise he may even get to borrow COD4 from me if I ever stop playing it..

My mom is trying to get me removed from their will now, for some reason...

just listening to the podcast now (weird places to listen to GWJ: while working at an opera company). I'm definitely one of those PS2 owners who went with the Wii. I was turned off by the price point of the PS3 initially and there were no game options; plus, I loved that motion controller...! But I'm also one of those PS2 owners who's now a little disappointed with the Wii. Other than a handful of games, I'm finding it to be a little lame. In the end, I still turn to my 360...

Is the PS3 now doing better only because everybody already has a 360, and the PS3 is finally catching up, gamewise (and no longer so outrageously expensive)? I'll admit I've been coveting one lately, but mainly for PixelJunkEden. Give me the weird games!

Thanks to you all, we're now (finally) in the top 20 videogame podcasts on iTunes!

Kiss my ass, Major Nelson!

I was just about to say that, except I was going to use the first-person plural.

Co-founder indeed.

I would just like to mention that whipped the snot out of Certis tonight. Yeah, I opened up a whole new can whoop ass, and beat the little girl down.

For crying out loud, show us a picture of Soul Caliber Certis so we can believe you!

Yes please, Google is no help here.

I'm really hoping for at least one more response to "strangest place I've listened to the podcast":

While pretending to watch Gattaca in Biology class.
