GWJ Conference Call Episode 94

Too Human, Some E3 Thoughts, An Interview With Dr. Horrible's Felicia Day, Batman, Your Emails and more!

This week, we reminisce about the wonder that was Dr. Horrible with geek-heartthrob Felicia Day. She does a little dance with Rabbit about why humor is so freaking hard, and what she's really looking for in a ... game.

Enough said.

Oh dear. Please tell me Elysium didn't sing, "I Want To Friend You Up."

I was just thinking about Dr. Horrible when I hit the refresh button, and Felicia Day jumped from my thought onto the screen. She's a gamer?

Oh, just you wait. Girl's got mad gaming cred.

Wow.
We moving on up
to that deluxe apartment in the sky.

Really? Really? I mean, I agree. But did you have to phrase it like ... that?

Next stop: Steven Spielberg on Boomblox.

*snap, snap* Word.

(I'm a dork)

Good lord. I can't take you people anywhere.

Could you at least take her to Oakland? Hubba, hubba, hubba.

Oh, you have to check out The Guild. She created and wrote most of it, and she just plain gets it.

Nice work, Rabbit. *seethes with jealousy*

Hot.

It's like we're legit or something, I swear.

Just because its a theme song don't mean it ain't true.

F*cking fantastic.

... my work here is done

Oh, I feel all of you guys will try Alone in the Dark now -- except the MMO addict. Seriously man! play something else for at least 2 hours a week, I don't know!

No but seriously about the part in the car with the bats, it says ''drive into things OR drive really fast'' to shake them off, so you don't *have* to run into things. I made the same mistake you did and ran into a bunch of sh*t before I realized that if I go fast enough it'll shake them off.

I'm in love.

Also with Felicia Day.

Another wonderful, intelligent interview from Mr Murdoch.

Great interview, Rabbit. Also, great song, Tom Quinn.

I am in awe.

Plain and simple.

Seriously? Felicia freakin Day?

Jesus Hoppity Christmas, Rabbit. I'm expecting to see you in Wired or Entertainment Weekly any day now with the string of interviews you're racking up.

//Yayyyyy! I got a shoutout!

Thanks for the link to The Guild, I'd never seen it before. I just sat and watched the first 6 episodes back-to-back and really enjoyed it.

As one of the two Australians who plays/pays for games, it's pleasing to hear such nice things said about the place; but having all the women talk with Australian accents is not quite as alluring as you guys make out.

As for the pricing of games and gaming hardware here, it's a comparatively small market, the prices have traditionally been set by overseas headquarters, and the value of the Aussie dollar (formerly called the Pacific Peso) bounces around like a super-rubber ball. Consumer goods are almost always more expensive here and that's just the way it is.

I also want to applaud both Elysium's and rabbit's statements regarding game piracy. It's not my intention to inflame the issue or provoke a discussion, but after hearing your opinions on the podcast, and afterwards checking out the Escapist piece (and attendant vitriol comments!), I just wanted to say that I have long shared your view and wished that it was more popular. And, no, while I am certainly a tool, I'm not a tool of the industry.

May I see your wife wavers? You know you had to get them signed by your wives before you could interview a hottie like her.

Fantastic interview. 'The guild' is great. It's brilliant to hear she is such an enthusiastic gamer.

I've actually watched a lot of tournament films for one particular game (you'll never guess.) Myth could record films for games. Every year the fans held a tournament called Myth World Cup. There were reviews for all matches (in theory anyway. It tended to break down after a while) and the films were posted. Myth had unique attributes that helped make the games easy to watch. It was always slow paced, so you could follow the action. You could keep track of everyone in the game (unlike first person shooters when you can only ever see part of the action) and the fight weren't just a swirling scrum of friendly and enemy units.

Why phrase it?

Did you mention how much I loved her character arc in Buffy season 7? didjadidjadidja?!?!?!!

I didn't even realize E3 was happening till I got back from the Austin Slap and Tickle. Goes to show you how far it's fallen as I've always followed most trade shows.

Wow great job guys. I figured the picture just meant you were going to talk about DR. Horrible... And then I saw Certis' bold lettered title description!
