Official Age of Conan Wiccana - PvE

Hi folks,
I got beat up a lot in Deathwhisper. Unless they change PvP (and many others are satisfied - so likely they may not), my 29th level Assassin is abandoned there.

So I would like to know whassup over here! I spent yesterday having a ball in PvE on your server. OOC is helpful, rather than the typical pooheadery I encountered at Deathwhisper.

I rolled a Guardian, to try something very different from Assassin, but I am also interested in HoX and maybe Demonologist, if that fits better. I know the 'play what you want' mantra that most guilds give out, but it would be nice to be missed when not online! Anyhow - as stated earlier - absolute blast plowing through content without PvP - she is now 17th, I believe. Funny thing, every time I came across someone with blades drawn in the tunnels below town, there was always the halfstep backward - then a little smile as I knew I could continue to enjoy my progression.

Anyhow - later tonight, I will join TeamSpeak, and if anyone wants to run to White Sands - that is where the majority of my quests still lie. Will petition for guild invite, also. Ride on.

Just curious were you in our guild on Deathwhisper? If so what was your characters name?

Welcome aboard. There are bunches of us capable of inviting you into the guild, so we can take care of that whenever you on.

I am not sure about TeamSpeak, though, as I believe the vast majority of us use Ventrilo for our voice communication. There's a Ventrilo Thread Here with all the information you need to gain access to its use, if you want to join in on that fun. You'll almost always find people out there to talk with, get invites from, or call for help to on both the PvE and PvP servers.

FWIW, I vote "Not PLS" for guild city.

Just dinged 31 last night. Certis is winning the race. Curses.

I was - well I am - Akharu. You guys offered to help on White Sands when getting rez camped during early release, I got freed up within about four kills, and called off the Broken Oar retribution squad. And I grouped with Tkyl and another doing 40 croc skins. Ran with three or four out at White sands mid-teens. Did the feather quest.

This move is certainly no slam on you guys! You were great, and the Ventrillo channel (not Teamspeak!) was very handy and helpful. I think I am just not made to peer over my shoulder every second of adventuring. Truth is, I don't really enjoy killing other *random* players who pick a fight with me. I don't feel much retribution is needed - I just head toward quests in the other direction. What a wuss ;-). Really - I am more about the co-op than the compete.

What I do want to get into is PvP for a reason - the raiding does interest me. I just may not be cut out for full-bore always-on PvP. Or I may be back. If I were to critique myself, it was that I didn't actively advertise myself for groups, and thereby enjoy the enhanced safety and firepower of others. Instead I was lollygagging round Khopshef, and lollygagging round Wild Lands, and lollygagging round Tarantia Nobles Quarter. What's that make me... Larry?

I vote Poitain for our guild city. And I'm very happy to report that I think I'm hooked into AoC. I was really struggling at keeping myself playing as I just kept having trouble with my early level conqueror. I died or had to ran away too often.

Yesterday I went from lvl 24 to lvl 28 in a couple hours of play and I had a blast. I felt like I was a soloable force, and to finish off the play-session I tackled a lvl 30 boss and was able to defeat it using a combination of kiting, potions, and stance dancing.

hehe thanks. I just couldn't remember another Assassin outside of Tkyl and Neph. Do hate to see ya go, but i understand that the pvp side of things isn't for everyone.

Don't feel bad, I'm torn too. I enjoy RVR type of PVP, but the one on one stuff really isn't my style either. I'm still going to play Shoal (The Demo) on Deathwhisper, but we'll see if PVP or PVE wins out in the longrun.

Good Evening, I play a level 10 Demonologist (Szzaros) and I'm a real life friend of Wreaker. I am interested in joining the Legion of the Broken Oar. I've played several MMORPG's over the course of the past 9 years. I look forward to meeting everyone and hopefully join your ranks soon. Thanks for your consideration.

Great group last night, although I've decided that being top-level in a set of fairly grindy quests in Cohnal Valley is *not* exactly a level-factory (grin). Did anyone submit a bugreport on the "get the axe" quest?

Did anyone submit a bugreport on the "get the axe" quest?

If you leave the instance and come back in it will respawn. Like a bunch of quests in the game, it is NOT group friendly.

Hey Poly, I can't choose a Guild City Location (in Poitain) as it must be done by the Guild Leader. Do you want to browse around and find us a good spot? I'll start working on the Keep and city upgrade thread thereafter (Suhn is just a hair short of 40 as of this AM).

Shade, you don’t get to pick your location just the instance. They auto assign them to you.
All 4 in each instance are pretty sweet to look at though.

Yeah, we figured that out, we just though it should be /bug'd - and no, I didn't.

Turning those Conal Valley quest in should have netted you a bunch of XP. The 3 or 4 I turned in this morning gave me 3/4 of a level (29.75 to 30.5). Thats after the other 20 I tunred in last night gave me like 5 levels

What?!? I was hoping for a place that was easily to defend, using terrain and water to our advantage. Of course, I'd like it to be scenic... waterfalls, forest... Even some shrubbery... maybe a second one placed beside thie first, only slightly higher so you get the two-level effect with a little path running down the middle. A path! A path!

At all cost, avoid building them in the swamp. They tend to sink, burn, and/or fall down.

You don't defend your guild city. In fact, nobody but our guild ever sees our guild city. Once your guild city is level 3, then you may vie for control of a battle keep, which is a city you build in the pvp zone. That city can be attacked.

Not 100% true. Anyone can see your guild city. There are 3 other guilds that share your instance. + Anyone who does not have a guild city in Potain can come to it and see your city as well.

Until you have walls and a gate they can just walk right in.

Now also right now the cities are bugged and they are attackable.

The goon city on Deathwhisper has been destroyed a few times now it is great.

Have a look at the top post of this thread, you can sent a /tell to anyone listed there for an invite. Hopefully they get the guild application interface sorted out soon.

Apparently, Monty Python Humor is lost upon you. Not a single part of that was meant to be taken seriously.

Now attacking Goonie cities sounds like fun while it lasts!

Ill be on a bit later tonight. If you're around we can go to the zone and check things out.

Don't you realize? The next time you see sky, it'll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it'll be in some other school. Our parents, they want the best of stuff for us. But right now, they got to do what's right for them. Because it's their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it's our time. It's our time down here. That's all over the second we ride up Troy's bucket.

Apparently so.

Holly S...!! I haven't heard that in years!!...(Must show my kids the movie..:) )

Hello! I am a long time lurker and would like to run with you guys. My two toons that will be applying for the guild are Hazrad, a HoX at 20 and Harden a lvl 10 guardian.

Okay!
I got it!
The podcast convinced me. I'm installing right now. I played a rogue (combat) in WoW, what class would be good for me?

If you really liked the rogue, you should give the Barbarian, Assassin and possibly the Herald of Xotli a try. The barb and HoX are really melee heavy, very savage. Its hard not to like it.

Conq would be good times.
Barbs and Assasins go down hill fast IMHO after 40... hence my reroll.

Who has acces to guild bank? Is it guild rank based? Can everybody put stuff in but only those of required rank can withdraw? Is there only one bag of guild bank? Do we want to reserve it for specific stuff or let everybody put whatever they think should maybe in there? What if someone without withdrawal privilidges wants an item?

Should we be putting crafting materials in there?

No! Don't say that! My Assassin can't become useless, it's so much fun at 32 so far!

So Im working on a plan to do 2 things.

1. Establish the guild city and get it to an early point we're happy with

2. Start generating some money as a guild to help our level 40+ folks get some horses. They're bugged at the moment so they dont really give players any advantage but it is a confirmed bug so they'll be fixing it shortly.

So the basic plan of action I came up with
-Claim the Guild City spot
-Get a group together to harvest resources (have to spread out, jump into different instances of the zone, possibly have some relocate to the other gathering zones so we're not competing with each other)
-Pool the resources and build the Keep and Tradepost
-Find a decent way a group of us to get some gold for the guild so that we can get many of our members 3g each to buy a horse with training. (farming resources to sell, running a dungeon to get items to sell, hold a raffle, crafting.... bake sale?) We can continue to gather gold as a guild over the coming weeks to expand the city and continue feeding gold to new level 40 players.
