How about a link that works?
Certis: Quintin is both smart and attractive.
Fedaykin98: Good lord, I wouldn't have expected brilliance like that from that nemeslut Quintin Stone!
Yonder: It's weird to say this, but Quintin Stone may be the wisest person here.
I don't shoot as much as I'd wish.

I didn't get around to listening to the podcast until this morning, but I hope to god Elysium and Rabbit tear Certis apart for his smug dismissal of Portal's greatness. I didn't choose it as my #2 for the year because of the song, I chose it because everything that happened in the game filled that song with so much meaning and emotional release.

Yeah really. Certis, you honestly believe that Portal won GWJ community GotY just for the end song? Shameful!

You know, it was hard to pick it up, but I did mention I was using hyperbole to make a point in regard to the mint comment. I think Demi drowned it out a bit. I don't recall saying that the song was the ONLY reason Portal was getting all these game of the year nods, but the song and the cultural phenomena played a part in it. I'm sure when Sean gets back I'll get mine, but anyone responding as if I said it was a bad game or people only liked it because of the song are off the mark.

I didn't interpret you as saying that, but you certainly sounded like you were saying that you think people thought it was GOTY material only because of the internet meme stuff associated with, which to me felt like someone saying people wouldn't be praising BioShock so much if it weren't for the old-timey music in the background and people saying "Would you kindly..." all the time. I guess I'm just on edge because some people seem to be stating things to the effect that something can't qualify as a game of the year because it doesn't have a set of arbitrary rules as to what makes an "excellent" game.

That's all crowning something Game of The Year or "excellent" is. Doesn't matter if it's Portal, Bioshock or Mario. I think Portal is an excellent game, but I don't think it's better than a number of really, really good games this year.

Quoted for truth.
I loved Portal with a passion, don't get me wrong. And it is definitely in my top 10 of 2007, but probably not my top 5. There were just too many great games out this past year, Portal being one of them (just not the best of them).
I think Portal is better than practically every other game this year, but (and I'm saying this from a completely objective standpoint) my opinion is more valid than yours, therefore Portal is GOTY. I'm sorry, but you can't argue with logic.

I surrender!

Except with metalogic. Or with not logic...from which logic must have arrived.

Don't feel bad. Some of us are good at technical stuff, others are good at... um... wait, what are you good at again?

I always imagine him hammering new words together out of worn-out old words, like a blacksmith. Except that squishing new words together from old ones is more of a German thing than an English thing. We just hyphenate our compound adjectives and allow them to lose the hyphen after enough usage. Or we did before the internet and people that have never heard of Bill Walsh were allowed to "write." Argh!

It's fairly simple. You heat the words in fire until they're nice and soft. Then you take them out and beat the sh*t out of them with a hammer.
Eventually Liam Neeson shows up and you kill a priest, I think.
