Another New Rig Post

So tax return time came around again, and I got a pretty hefty return. I was thinking about saving it, but as an American citizen I thought it was my civic duty to help stimulate the economy (at least that sounds better than wanting a new computer and just buying it). So I went crazy on new egg and bought all the parts for the new rig.

-evga 790i ultra sli mobo
-evga 8800gts 640mb gddr3
-4 x 1gb ddr3 gskill 1066mhz
-E8400 Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 ghz
-500gb hdd
-vista 64

Needless to say I expected this thing to tear faces off the first time I powered it on. Go to fire it up and the mobo is DoA, which makes me a sad panda. I RMA'd it back to evga and they luckily cross ship products, but it's taking too long and now I am starting to get impatient...anyone else had problems with mobo's being DoA on them?

Let us know how it goes!

Welcome to the new rig club. It's a nice club. You'll have to let us know when everything's been sorted out.

Consider sending the video card back, too. The 8800GTS 640MB costs more and is slower (in the majority of tests) than the 8800 GT. That's the old 8800GTS and stores are just dumping off the last of their old stock.

They should be selling those things off for like $160, not $220-230!

I love a good pig roast!

... Oh.

Well I got the new Mobo from evga...and this thing hauls. I am going to go out and get TF2, but what I really can't wait for is Age of Conan to come out so I can really see the potential of this system (I was going to get Oblivion but I haven't decided on this one yet...I got bored with it's predecessors because there was quite literaly too much to do).

Honestly I threw WoW on it and I didn't think WoW could look better with it being so stylized. However, with everything on high the game runs without flaw and has a much better level of detail.
