"Popular" Singaporean female blogger tricked into reviewing iPhone knockoff. (NSFW due to language)

I've been debating putting this up here but seeing the mature yet side-splitting humorous community around here, I'm looking forward to see what you all make of this.

Firstly some background, the subject in question is Wendy Cheng (Xiaxue), the so called most popular and famous of all Singaporean bloggers. She is mainly considered to be infamous due to her crass attitude, expletive filled rants about nothing and everything, and unapologetic publicity seeking antics.

Personally I find her a terrible example of what real Singaporean girls are like in terms of dressing and personalty. But it would not be fair to say that there isn't any girls here that don't think a little like she does. Sad to say that most of us actually do speak like that

Because of this, I'm concerned about helping to spread unflattering views of what Singaporeans are like, seeing as how there is still alot about us that many people still don't really know about.

In this case, Wendy was tasked by her producers of some Web TV show into reviewing the iPhone. In actual fact, they handed her a cheap China made knockoff and claimed it to be the real deal. After she was done reviewing it, she was then given a real iPhone to review in contrast to the cheap knockoff. This results in a painful comedy of statements.

The video can be found at this link (no rick roll) and the original article is from here

I liked her Photoshop clip...

Yeah that was the best thing I've seen her do. Talk about having niche skills.

Here you go A.J. Xiaxue's Guide to Life: Photoshop
Actually I've pretty sure Walt and myself were just kidding around with how "good" her photoshop skills are. But see for yourself I guess.

You might also like her Guide to Shopping for Slutty clothes.

Take note, like I mentioned before, this not how most common Singaporean Girls dress or act. The accent, I'm afraid, is much more common.

Sheesh. I'm still not so hot on the idea that I'm helping to spread the more low-brow aspects of my country. Must be like Jeff Foxworthy and all those redneck jokes (whom I love by the way)

I agree. Therefore I hope you don't mind if I ask for specifics. heh.

She reminds me of all the shallow girls I go to university with. Very high Asian population in Vancouver so it's pretty common. Good looking girl who seems obsessed with herself, blah blah blah.

Yep. You pretty much hit the nail on its head. And for that reason, we pretty much can't stand her (and others like her) over here in Asia either.

Point of the whole post, is that I would hate for someone to think that All Singaporeans (Asians) girls are like what you encounter at your campus.

My brother was up in Vancouver a few years back for a in-line hockey tournament. He very much enjoyed his time there. I wish to visit someday myself.

My dad went to Singapore a short while ago. Suggested I visit in the near future. Odds are I'll make it their within a few years.

Vancouver is a beautiful city. Mountains, ocean, forest, everything is close.

I don't think anyone here would make the assumption that she represents all Singaporean women. It's like thinking that Britney Spears represents all American women.

That's what I came to expect from the community here at GWJ. A perfect, reasonable response.

I guess I was a little cheesed off at the ignorant comments on the original Gizmodo article that the video was at and ran all the way here for comfort. Thanks Vector, for renewing my faith in the Intertubes.

I haven't heard from her before. But any decent blogger should know how the real iPhone looks like.
She obviously didn't. She was graceful enough to admit her mistake... still... ah well.

I'm originally from Singapore and it's people like her that remind me why I'm OK with living elsewhere.

Like others have said, she doesn't represent Singaporean women as a whole but her mass appeal in Singapore does give some insight to the country's psyche. Kinda like Perez Hilton.

Ooh, good death match.

I love to visit Singapore but it would be hard to move back.

OK, she's got so much makeup it looks like her eyelids are on upside-down.
