Oct 4th - 10th

Welcome to GWJÂ's new home! Hopefully everyone is getting here ok and we can carry on doing whatever it is we do. If wallets could breathe I expect yours would utter a sigh of relief, there really isnÂ't much anything coming out this week. Things are looking so sparse in fact that the game of the week was almost going to be pie. Instead weÂ'll go with ToCA Race Driver for the Xbox and PS2. Shipping on Tuesday for $29.99 it supports online play and the Xbox version includes Colin McRae 04 as well.

On DVD this week weÂ've got Aladdin: Special Edition, Fahrenheit 9/11 and more!

Only Leisure Suit Larry and it will have to sit unopened for a bit...

And I so wanted to like Superpower 2, but it is SO boring and so poorly put together...

Wow. Two great games for that price. Don't see how anyone who considers himself a fan of racing titles could not pick up this one. And Race Driver 2 has an impressive amount of content and cars.

Did you forget about Mortal Kombat?

Yeah... the new MK doesnt look half bad... I may pick that up

Like Sim, I so very much wanted that SuperPower 2 demo to be good, but it wasn't. It was the opposite of good. It was... bad.

Don't forget Counterstrike: Source!

Some of you guys will be playing it while I get married, bah!

If it's not on EB's release list I might have missed it, yeah.

LSL this week? Sweet!

Wheeee doggie! There ain't nothin' better than pig farmin' with John Deere!

I just might take a look at Wild Fire but my budget game money's on Wanted: A Wild West Adventure this week (to be shipped on 10/3 when last I looked)....Ride 'em cowboy!

What's with the difference in the Leisure Suit Larry PC and console prices?

Extra breasts, i'd guess.

I ran through the demo for this game last night. It's available via The Adventure Company and I liked its use of 3D. It's easier for me than the classic Grim Fandango as it's all point-and-click.

Here's a link to Quardary Land's review of it.

Also, here's a link to IGN's LSL review -- it doesn't look as good as I had hoped: they give it a 72%. As an adventure game player, I'd rate it lower than that, from what I read.

That Lesiure Suit Larry game makes me flinch everytime I see it. Looks way too platformish with all those mini-games for my PC gaming sensibilities. There's a chance this might have been worth it had Al Lowe been involved in the creative process but as is it, I'm taking a pass on this week's edition of tit tweaking titillation.

I'll most likely still eventually buy it, but it's definitely not worth even the $30 for the PC version for me. (I'm as much a sucker for "tit tweaking titillation" as the next heterosexual male.) To bring in the other LSL point, I would assume that the higher price for the console version is simply because the market accepts $40/$50 as the typical price point there.

But, I expect that I'll be waiting quite a while for it to drop below $20. I had been thinking it was going to be one of my few exceptions to my usual $20/$25 per game limit, but no longer.

Nobody's said anything about Tribes: Vengance?
