Post a picture of your pet!

That was it, luna. Thanks for the advice, I didn't know it was transmittable to humans.

I would destroy everyone's bandwidth if I were to post pics of every pet we have. Seriously, we've got like 50 cats, a bird, and a dozen or two koi.

EDIT: Here's a small glimpse -

IMAGE(http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o24/dhelor/IMG_0230small.jpg)

Cats pictured (in no particular order): Pockets, Bunny Boy, Mo, Bootsy, Teddy, Stinkoman, Mouth, Demi, Yin, Muffin, Mr. Mustard, Banshee, and Sable. Possibly others, can't quite tell.

We've got our hands full with 8 cats. I can imagine yours are fun on winter nights when they all have to crawl in between and under the covers and trap you so tightly you have to wet the bed. Anyway, here's a few of ours (haven't gotten pictures of 5 of them yet):

Big Darryl doing his imitation of my ugly nephew

And lastly, Big Darryl saying hello to all the ladies on the intertubes

Let me guess: Giardia. Just be careful, you can get it too.

And you do not want it. I got it once. (I was camping and what I thought was a safe water source... wasn't) I lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks. Not fun.

Best.

Diet.

Evar!

You're welcome. It's something we see a lot in my practice so I've got a lot of experience with it. Like you said, it's found in water (lakes, puddles, etc) so dogs get it all the time. Giardia cysts are also found in the feces, which is why I warned you.

It's something that's usually overlooked at shelters. They routinely medicate for other parasites like roundworm but often overlook giardia. No worries though, it's something that can be cleared up pretty easily with some Metronidazole (flagyl).

Hope that wasn't too off topic or nerdy.

Eldest one, the black and white one laying down is Chewbacca.

Middle child, brown and white on the left is Jabba.

The youngest, the little blond girl on the right is Princess Leia.

I think you got the size thing mixed up between Chewbacca and Jabba, but still a great pic.

I have a cat named Chewie. Not named after Chewbacca, though, he was named for the fact that he was chewing on my shirt at the time we were thinking up names for him and his brothers (Loki and Banshee).

Chewie:

Ok I am adding my four legged, furry alarm clock to this collection. Meet "Destiny". A "shelter cat" I've had for 10 years.

Why is it that cats look so evil when they're most comfortable? That picture has a "I will destroy you" caption in my head.

I approve of your knowledge of Dog butts.

Logan informed me that I needed to come post in this thread.

My wife had wanted a dog for months, and Valentine's Day approached... so I started doing the shelter rounds. There sure are a lot of shelters in Monterey County! There's the county shelter, Salinas city shelter, Marina city shelter, Monterey SPCA at Laguna Seca, Animal Friends in Pacific Grove... not to mention all the ones in Santa Cruz County.

At the Monterey County shelter, I found this one:

None of the other animals had that kind of enthusiastic writing on their cards, obviously this one was popular with the staff.

I took my wife to him, she fell in love, and one neutering later, we had a dog. His name: Sam.

IMAGE(http://www.armchairempire.com/images/miscellaneous/sam-max-culture-shock-interview/sam-max-culture-shock-2.jpg)

Yep, named after him.

I had another game dog name in mind...

IMAGE(http://www.thg.ru/game/20040126/images/002_dogmeat.jpg)

... but the wife said, "hell no".

So Sam he became.

That is one handsome dog. Congrats Legion.

I got to visit this sweet sweet dog when I went to see Legion and his wife a few weeks ago. The pictures do not do that personality justice. My birthday's Easter Sunday and they're bringin' him down. Hooray for me.

I had another game dog name in mind...

You know, this was also the first name I suggested for our pup. It got nixed as well.

well not exactly my dog, Brody is my brothers, but I really liked the simple goof

I've had Seamus here since I was twelve.

He turned 14 two weeks ago.

Ok so Sammy was a name I already had in mind, so it wasn't totally based on that character from Sam and Max.

I picked out Sammy. Brendon wanted this scary looking "Kill you in your sleep" looking dog. HA! Sammy was in both of our top 4 (Sam being my #1).

He is the BEST DOG, so smart, and so sweet!

Everyone knows the best pets have fins!

This is Head the goldfish (from So I Married an Axe Murderer) in the "hospital" recovering from a swim bladder problem.

Uh, why is his brain on the outside? Is that the goldfish version of Shane Battier?

It's to plan world domination.

We don't celebrate Easter, but it is another chance to put cute things on poor Dimitri..
IMAGE(http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/fireflysas/Dimitri/easterdimitri.jpg)

My friend had one of those bug-eye goldfish. I named it Quasimodo. It was an air bubble junky. Used to get high on them, float to the top of the tank, and then desperately try and swim to the floor. Kept me entertained for a hours at a time.

That might be the single sweetest looking dog I've ever seen. I'm happier now because he looks so happy.

Also, when I finally get a dog, I too have plans to name him Dogmeat. Sorry it didn't fly for you this time.

That's mean... now he's gonna cry himself to sleep on his big pillow.

Take that as a lesson, husbands (and boyfriends): Make your wife/girlfriend play Fallout before you suggest naming her sweet, little new puppy "Dogmeat". Or at least don't suggest the name in front of your future in-laws.

I just don't understand what was wrong with your wife's suggestions. I'm now convinced I'm naming my future dog "Hell No!".

You asked for it...

This is my first kitty ever, Murphy, a 4 year old calico...

And this is my kitten Harry, an 11 month old Tuxedo (he's much, much larger now, as he's a main coon)...

Aren't they PRESH?! If you're wondering, their names were taken from the Dresden Files.
