What GWJers are reading, on Goodreads.com

I recently discovered Goodreads.com, a social site centered completely on literature. It's a cool place to post brief reviews and see what friends are reading. Given the regular "what are you reading" threads here, it strikes me as the kind of thing GWJers might be interested in.

I recently put a profile together and added the last few books I've read. Any other GWJers use Goodreads? Anyone interested in joining up? I currently have no goodreads friends, and that makes me sad.

My profile is here.

I just "friended" you. This is probably the kind of thing I'll start and keep up with for a bit then forget about. Looks like a great way to expand my book shelves though (as if I needed any help).

Here's my profile.

I figure I'll check it every time I'm looking for something new to read.

I'll be your friend, Fly!

This is really neat. I like to read about reading.

I made a group for us to be in together. Will you be in it with me?

It's very quick to add a lot of books and ratings out of 5. Writing reviews may take somewhat longer.

I've been on GR since August... once the initial rush faded, I haven't been back too often... my account is "TWSSpodcast."

I've added 92 books to my list so far... I have several hundred still to go

I'll start collecting my books together, and use the site as more of a personal way of keeping track of what I own. I already do it with my games (IGN.com) and my albums (rateyourmusic.com) so I might as well catalog my other main hobby.

See, this just seems like a hassle. Although it does allow me to compare my metaphorical literary penis with other goodjers, I'm sold.
*Edit* Unfortunately I registered under my real name. They don't really have a 'username' section and I am naive and tired. ***Edit***and Now I found the username section. It's boogle btw.

Since I like this thread, does that mean I like to read about reading about reading?

That's meta as hell.

man I just read your post about liking to read about reading about reading. I was like whoa... then I thought, what if D-O-G spelled cat?

You're more dedicated than I am. There's no way I'm going to add my book collection. I'll hopefully be able to keep up with my Amazon orders as they come in.

I've "friended up" everyone who put there profile tag on this thread. Here's my profile.

I just signed up and I'm poking around (profile). Has anyone else used Shefari?

I have joined the group. No more searching through the "What Are You Reading" threads for me.

I plan on putting a handful of books in at first; but like most people there's no way I can add everything I've read.

Yes. Sexier, to me. And sexy means everything. Goodreads just seemed so spartan.

I'm in as "Erik."

I am in there, but I am warning you all now that all I ever read is kids books and Christian-y things. If you need a good book for an angst-y teenager, though, I gotcha covered.

By this, do you mean naked, oiled, and carrying a spear?

For those people looking for easier ways to add books to your profile:

Find a friend, or just a random Goodreads user, who has already entered a crapload of books. Go through their list, and just ADD the books from their list to your own (that you've read, of course). It's much easier than trying to think up every book you've ever read and add them in one at a time.

I signed up as 'Haiku, but I'll probably be inactive most of the time until the semester is over. College interferes with reading, sadly.

It seemed a bit of a chore to add everyone manually, so I went ahead and created a group.

Doh! My filthy skimming fails again!

I jumped on, joined the group.

Just added myself to the group. To avoid the temptation to add the hundreds of books that sit on my shelf, I've contented myself with only adding books that I've read since I joined the site.

I just joined and I'm starting to add my books. Is anyone else having slow load times and intermittent 503 errors?

I joined the group as Adam Clay. Feel free to add me as a friend, as well.

Does anyone have any experience selling/trading books through Goodreads?

This looks like a pretty cool site. Will check it out.

I don't believe this is you. I can't find you. I'm lost.

Here's me btw. Just joined. I like to read and have been meaning to join this site for a while.

Without thinking, I totally invited that guy to be my friend. We'll see what comes of it.

I was serious. Doing a search with "Adam Clay" only pulled up that guy.

Oh well, now wordsmythe has a new friend.
