APF2k8 - Legends League S2 - Week 8

Well, that's why I made that comment. Last season we had a tie where the team that seemed to have the tie-breakers didn't get in. And given that it took me two hours and an Excel spreadsheet to create a schedule (after APF helpfully autogenned a schedule where Chris had 7 home games and you had 1), I'm not counting on the software to do the right thing, unfortunately.

I'll drop out. That should help a little bit on the playoff tie breakers.

Dude, don't throw yourself on your sword again. You're always doing that.

What happens happens.

Ahh Gumbie, our country-fried martyr.

Firesloth, sorry about not reading this thread all weekend. I just totally forgot. Lots of beer involved. Can you play tonight?

Bagga -- I should be able to play tonight. Again, later is better with wife, boy, etc.

How about 10 EST?

Actually, 11 EST may be better. Let's try for that.

Holy crap, great game to end the season. Bagga pulls out a win 24-21.

Alright, stats (firesloth v. bagga in all cases):

1st Downs: 22 v. 5
Total Yards: 365 v. 197
Rushing Yds 113 v. 25
Completion %: 72% v. 60%
3rd Down %: 75% v. 33%
No. of Plays: 51 v. 18
Time of Pos.: 17:41 v. 6:42
Turnovers: 2 v. 0

So, the pivotal stat is the last one. In the first half, I threw a pass that bounced off of the butt of a lineman and into the arms of one of his no-star LBs who ran it back 67 yards for a TD. To top things off, I was called for an illegal man downfield on the throw.

The second one, though, really hurt. I was down by 3 with 28 seconds left from bagga's 22 yard line. I had gotten there after starting the drive with under a minute to play from my own 8 yard line, so things looked good. The play before Todd Christensen (my version) was *WIDE OPEN* for a sure TD, but Steve Grogan threw the ball into the ground even though he was unmolested. I thought I should go for the TD, given the season I've had....and threw it to Christensen again even though he was covered by 4 defenders. That INT sealed the win for Bagga.

What a great game, Bagga!

So it is safe to say Grogan is not a first round pick this upcoming season?

On to the playoffs. Good luck everyone and good season to those who didn't make it.

And before anyone asks, I was given the opportunity to choose the final playoff team. I studied the teams in question and deferred to Jayhawker's breakdown on head to head matchups.

The illegal man call is simply for the O-lineman being the first one to touch the pass. It happened to me this week as well.

That was a game where I was totally dominated statistically. Like, if you look at the stat sheet and not the score, you'd expect it to be 31-7 Firesloth. I never even had a chance to try to play the game I wanted (grind it out and play field position), because the only thing I could do was chuck it downfield and score quickly. Elway was 3 of 5 for 173 yards. It was simply that I had no other option but to heave it because nothing else was working. On defense, I simply could not stop OJ or the receiving game, save the 2 lucky picks. I think that game used up all of my luck for the rest of my lifetime, maybe the next 2. The guy spouting sentence fragments and swear words should have been him, not me. Well played, I still can't believe how that game turned out.
