APF2k8 - Legends League S2 - Week 8

Not officially rolled forward, but since we're flex we can go ahead to week 8 games and see how the thing with Grumpicus and I playing resolves before I roll it forward. Until then you can play week 8 games. Good luck, everyone.

when Ds do you want to play our game. You stand between me and another perfect season mark. And no sumberland to stop me in the playoffs. But it doesn't count out everyone else because all the games were tough.

Bagga, we're up. Unlikely to be able to play tonight, but tomorrow after 10 pm or so might be a good time to take my beating.

I was ready to play just now. Tonight maybe? Else a weeknight. I'm on the West Coast and usually get home around 7pm.

Thought I would bring up a suggestion ruthless and I were discussing when we played our game.

If there is enough interest in a third season, we'd like to try an offline draft to set teams up. I think it could add an interesting dynamic to the league. We have a few weeks to get this set up, since we still have the playoffs to go.

I am a bit worried if we have enough guys ready to commit to another season. I'm sure there are at least three of us, plus someone that mentioned in an earlier thread that they wanted in the third season. With football season over, it does seem that interest is down a bit. But this has been a great season for teams getting their games in. Overall, it has been one of the smoothest running seasons I've ever been a part of in online leagues.

I'm at your service.

So obviously if you guys want to do an offline draft, I'm down for it. Someone would just have to figure out how to put that together smoothly.

I think I play frankiemumbles this week. I'm good to go most any day (I may be busy Tuesday night) after 21:30 Central.

As if to suggest...

That would make it after 11 PM my time, no? That may be a little late, what about tues. night?

Bagga -- I'm on EST with you. Sorry, didn't mention that since we're on the same time. Tuesday night...well, Monday or Wednesday are more likely, but if we're on at the same time, let's see what we can do.

Regarding Season 3: I'm in. I suck, but I'm in. I think a draft would be a fun way to go, if it could be done pretty easily. I think we should mirror the NFL with lowest performing picking first in all rounds!

Well great first game DS it was a nail beater i couldn't stop you and you had a hard time with me. Then you went up by 6 points and i thought if i scored again you would of ate up the rest of the time and scored to beat me. Then the hated Network Problem Message came up and it droped the game.
The second game though was a tale of a different story. And that story was Billy Sims in "Run Billy Run". He was all over the field and i got up by a couple scores. Then DS came marching down the field and scored again. Damn that "SUPER RANDELL" and i don't know what got into Allen though he was a animal in the second game. I want Allen tested for Steriods.
Great Games DSGamer you will get your revenge in the third season because i think going undefeated in two season my luck is running out.

Who knew Indiana is in EST? I'll look for you tonight but tomorrow would be fine if that's better for you.

It's not your fault, they can't really make up their mind.

Hey Chris!

Looks like it is us in week eight. Evenings are generally good for me, but I have a pretty open schedule if another time works better for you. Let me know.

Hey, we had our mind set on a time, and we liked it...we never changed it. Then you coasters came in with your fancy "daylight savings time" and screwed things up! Now I gotta' lose an hour of my life every Spring. f'ing hippies!

How far away are we from this week wrapping up? I'd love to not only get into the post season, but then for everyone interested to start talking about Season 3.

Bagga and I still have to play...may not be until Friday if I can't get on tonight (my wife likes Project Runway...I'm doomed). Last game, so I'd like to get this one in...

Maybe we can play after Project Runway? Make it work! Thank you Mood!

Still no word on Chris. Seems he has been offline since 2/17.

I can play anytime tonight after about 6pm until Gears starts around 10 I can also play tomorrow (Saturday) until around 7pm... Sorry for being such a flake...

It's all good.

I should be able to handle tonight. Is that 6pm EST?

Whoops!

Bagga -- Can we shoot for getting this in tonight? I know it'll take us out of Gears for a bit...but I think I can be on tonight. Maybe tomorrow, if not.

Yeah... EST... now that I think about it... would 7pm be too late?

No, that sounds fine.

grrrreat I can't wait to lose...

Hey, I'm hoping for a good game! Are you planning to play in the next season? I do have some suggestions for ya, if you are interested.

For one, and anyone who else is interested, 2K Football Strategy has a great forum where guys discuss all aspects of the game. Some of it is more in-depth than I care to go, but some of it is very enlightening. Prior to the draft, it would be well worth checking out the Team Creation Strategy forum. Lots of good ideas on what makes or a good team.

In fact, I think the need for a draft is even more important once you start getting this info. The more people figure out who the studs are, the less personalized each team will be.

I'm going to post this info in the Season 3 thread as well.

Good game, Chris!

It started out well for the Gunslingers, taking a pretty easy 21-7 lead at halftime. But Those Sailors would not be denied, and tied the game in the third quarter, 21-21. the sailors pass rush (five sacks in all) put a damper on my passing game, and Otis Anderson made me respect the run.

But I settled down in the 4th and put together two good drives capped by Okoye TD runs. The Gunslingers eeked out a 35-28 shootout. The difference was the three INTs by Steve Young vs. the darn near perfect game (despite getting sacked five times) by Montana, who hit on 18-21 for 315 yards and three TDs.

I had a great game with Jayhawker... close loss as usual

Those ints and a ridiculous dropped pass by Mr. Rice really cost me the game, but it was still an enjoyable battle.

Firesloth, you're the spoiler. You can force a tie for the 3rd and 4th slots. Who knows who will be slotted in the playoffs at that point.

I ran the numbers last night, and the four teams at 4-4 (well, Bagga is 4-3) have all played each other. Charlotte and New York are each 2-1 in those games. Salt Lake City and Nashville are each 1-2 in those games. So if firesloth wins, I'd say frankie and bagga are in. If Bagga wins, it gets more complicated, as he moves to 5-3. The other three teams are now all 1-1 against each other.

I guess we should go to net points. I'd say the fairest thing to do is net point in common games, since all teams don't play the same schedule. I haven't looked at those numbers yet.

edit: here are the games:
SLC 17 Nashville 14
Nashville 17 NY 14
NY 27 SLC 7

So it seems if it comes down to those three, frankie gets the nod due to his big win over Fred.

If this is the way tie-breakers work, it looks like it may be decided already.
